Liberty2k7
That area has a south central vibe. Don't trust rockstar to show us everything before the game is released. The ghetto will be there
Agni
Weird how a forum frequented by majority 14 year old white suburban kids is so obsessed with "the ghetto" Those who have never lived in a ghetto glamorize them when they're horrible places to live. I had a friend from one--good guy, but that place was awful.
Degrees
That in the screenshot is Franklin? It doesn't look like him. The one of the first post? It's a screengrab of the first trailer, and we don't really know who that is. Could be a beta version of Franklin, but then there's also shots of another guy we think is a beta version of Franklin, so who knows. That person running from the cops is probably beta Lamar. A beta version of Franklin is already shown in the red car. Plus it's him driving the van in the heist from trailer 1 but the guy running from the cops jumps out of the back. Superjew
I have some experience with ghetto's. My first time with them, my experience was limited but it was there. My friends and I were a couple of suburban white kids who liked to smoke marijuana. Of course there was always a constant search for the substance because it was on an underground black market in order to find it. Well when no one could find any at all, to get us through the night, we would drive down to the absolutely roughest part of the neighborhood in the inner city of St. Louis (St. Louis consistently ranks as one of the top 5 most dangerous cities in the country, mainly due to the crime in their inner-city neighborhoods) at about 3 am. We had a high chance of success of finding drug dealers (also of getting robbed or our car getting stolen too) waiting on their porches or on street corners, in which we could buy some, and the marijuana wasn't half bad, nor were we shorted even though they had every opportunity to do it to us and we would have no recourse. I use to work with some African-American older women in my suburb of Webster Groves. Webster Groves had a predominantly African-American part of town (btw I really hate for people to associate African-American residents with "bad neighborhoods") Once I went to my neighbors house to talk about something work related. As I was waiting in my car a young man, probably no older than 14 asked me if I wanted some crack-cocaine and showed me a baggy. I told him I didn't really do that stuff but thanks for offering anyways. Currently I'm a criminal justice major and a large portion of serious crimes do happen in inner city neighborhoods. I think it would be appropriate for this game to include a "ghetto" not out of stereotypes of early 90's LA like Menace II Society, but because it would be an accurate depiction of the low income housing for large cities like LA or in this case, "Los Santos". I think it would add to the game and help out with the immersion.
Degrees
Well they can't base it on the 90s. Still surprised Franklin isn't Hispanic the street gangs are like 3 to 1 Hispanic these days right? Risky just to get high btw.

Co. Extra
That video you showed us does a horrible job on showing us Compton. I bet some of those pictures aren't even from the area. Compton to me is a nice area visual-wise for the most part, it's definitely not a rundown like the video, go on google maps and see for yourself. Anonamix
I hope we will see more may 2nd. I hope we see crimes being committed randomly around the ghettos. Also gangs that respond to the world around them.. maybe you see a group of thugs in an alley.. you already know it will probably not end well. I also would like to see people react when you bump them to much. I liked that in gta iv. I would think all races and ages would want to see more dangerous ghettos. Seems to be a more fun environment to explore whilst playing a game of crime.. Tho I look very much forward to playing each character in their neighborhoods (burbs, ghetto, country) Random danger is very appealing to me while cruising the streets between missions. Special Members
Weird how a forum frequented by majority 14 year old white suburban kids is so obsessed with "the ghetto" But i´m not a white suburban from 14 years old. I´m a black guy from 15 years old that lives in the ghetto. Wait, they have enough money for nternet in the ghetto? Also, I am 15 aswell, white, living in Norway. Not really a suburb, as Norway lacks suburbs (Note that a suburb is a residental area located outside a city), and instead has its residental districts located inside the city limits, where most of the places outside the cities are made up of mountains, woods, akers, farms, countryside, stables, gas station, kiosks, roadside motels, and small villages, or "bygds" as they are known as here. I live in a residental district outside the downtorn of a medium-sized, Norwegian city (Very small for American standards, we unfortunately lack alot of big cities). It might surprise you, but this city has some places known as ghettos, where drug addicts and old, flaky wood buildings are common. Also some few petty crimes like robbery some times, and violence on some rare occatisions. But never a murder. That`s the Norwegian ghetto for ya. Now, why the hell am I telling you this? I really have no f*cking idea! (Censored it incase someone might report me for it, if it matters THAT much)

kasa
back on topic: I also miss a lot of info about ghetto's. A lot of the pictures where Fanklin is in seems the same little area. I don't want only Hollywood or the coubtyside to be big Also I think the ghetto's in GTA SA where much too small, half of Los Santos was industrial area
Special Members
I hope a parody of South Central is included. A ghetto south of downtown with all the skyscrapers is needed IMO. I would also like to see a parody of Compton. Watts, Inglewood, East Los Angeles, Long Beach and Crenshaw Heights (And bring in "The Jungle" from Training Day ). Compton, Watta, Inglewood, East Los Angeles and Long Beach where already in SA, as Ganton, Jefferson, Idlewood, East Los Santos and East Beach respectivly. But I think they need to be remade, better, bigger, uglier, more detailed, and more hardcore and dangerous then ever. And yes, a lot of ghettos in LA look like regular suburbs, but some look rather ugly, like some places in South Central. The ghettos in GTA IV looked awesome. Beechwood City, Firefly Projects, Schottler, South Bohan, Chase Point, Fortside, North Holland, East Holland, Northwood, Tudor, and Acter all looked great, and some loooked down-right frightening. I want that sense of danger. But I want the danger to happen. To be a real threat. I don`t hate IV or something like that, but the ghettos where really weak when it came to danger, random crime, drug meetings and drive-by`s. Cause nothing like that happened. I want gangbangers to attack me when I am just standing there, not provoking them. Especially if I`m playing as Michael (Franklin is obvously more used to the ghetto, and Trevor is a hardocre motherf*cker, who no one wnats to mess with), it would make sense if some latino or black gang started shooting at me for no reason. That sh*t happens in real life. It needs to be represented in the game aswell.

Znd
Weird how a forum frequented by majority 14 year old white suburban kids is so obsessed with "the ghetto" So true Well it goes with the general appeal of GTA games: doing what you wouldn't/couldn't/shouldn't do in real life, in a video game. Like, in real life, I wouldn't get involved with the mafia and sell/traffic/steal drugs and get into shootouts with 30 people who all have automatic weapons, but in a video game, f*ck yeah I'll do it, and it will be fun, and there will be no real life consequences.
