burner12
I've been thinking I hope R* will allow each character to have limited abilities. For example even though Trevor is a pilot they'll allow Michael and Franklin to fly aircraft but not very well. So you're not limited to each character's abilities And I hope GTA V isn't a let down like 4 was. IMO it won't be.
BoyzNGroveStreet
They've already said each protag will have different things they specialize in and different skillsets from one another. And i'm sure another protag could do what the next one can, but im not completely sure, but they do have different unique things one can do, and the other protags have their exclusive things (or minigames i think) they can do but the others cant. Waingro
Why was iv a let down? I think it's the best so far but I'm into crime novels and I don't care about the previous games because were fairly broad and the stories were unoriginal. There was little context to what you did (dick around the map) and the storyline. Gta iv was a real step forward. I started with iv then tried to play the previous games........they're i don't know but I'm too old to find them entertaining and they lack a lot of immersion. I know that they each have their own abilities. What I mean is have those abilities slightly cross over to the others. So if you need to quickly fly a plane but you are playing as Michael you can get in and fly it but not very well.

Rather than rpg type levelling, one character just has a better skill LvL in certain things.

It may have been a letdown for you because it's Grand Theft Auto, but in no way was it a failure for Rockstar. It basically paved the road for RDR, Max Payne, Midnight Club, etc. They basically built an engine from the ground up, and look how amazing RAGE is now. OT: I only see maybe one or two features available for each specific character. Trevor: access to airports and gasoline Franklin: Car repos Micheal: Yoga..? I'm not sure about Micheal. I can see vehicle handling such as airplanes and cars like the episodes from GTA IV. Johnny was better at biking, I think Luis was better at driving..?, and Niko... Idk. I haven't played the original GTA IV yet. I've been spoiled by the episodes.

TheQuestfor100Percent
Although we have been told each character will have their own attributes, I think it will just boil down to each character having their own side activities. I think they will all be able to fly planes/shoot sniper rifles/etc all the same. One of the first screens we got was Micheal flying a Hydra, that seems like it would take an incredible amount of skill to me. Just speculating though. The real O.G loc
nah, when it be comin to flyin n drivin or shootin I want all them mofos to have the same level of skill knowwhamean??differentaye abilitayes should not affect major aspects of da game homie. Differentaye abilitayes should be strictly restricted to special weapons them cats can possess..e.g trayvon be with them cannister, michael with that 007 gear n sh*t and ma negro frankie with with that poo face mofo dog. Knife
The whole point of three protagonists is to give more flexibility than ever. Limiting the characters and chopping up the gameplay into three sections is the opposite of what R* want to do with this multi-protagonist idea. The protagonists will get content especially for each of them, like separate houses and side-activities. But they'll most likely all be able to do the same things that a single protagonist can do in past GTA's.
zainzombie
They could add skills for driving, shooting, flying etc. etc. When you start the game lets say Michael's skills for shooting is 8/10, skills for flying is 4/10 and skills level for driving is 7/10. Trevor's skill level for shooting: 9/10, flying: 9/10 and driving: 3/10 Franklin: Shooting: 4/10, flying 6/10 and driving: 10/10. But as we play the game, (kinda like SA) the skills get better for each protagonist. So we can get our favourite protag to the max level on all skills so that we dont feel limited and forced to use another protagonist after the game completes. Also it gives us more to do. GrandMaster Smith
Skills would be absolutely useless if you start the game with them already near maxed out.. Having one character being able to fly better than another would be plain stupid and annoying.. Would planes just handle like sh*t for certain protags? I could see things like each protag having their own unique fighting styles, unique gaits, maybe minigame/activity specifically for a certain protag to fit their character but limiting the player like the ways proposed in OP would just break the multi-protag gimmick I feel. With negative things like lack of ability to pilot a plane, it's going to make you want to avoid playing as that character and I would imagine R* wants the complete opposite of that. djdiond
I think it will be something like this. Michael = Access to FIB tools + early start with money. Trevor = Access to gasoline + lighter, early start with planes. Franklin = Access to Chop, more fit (maybe better BMX, running and parkour?) + early access to many cars
