They have released plenty of gameplay, it is in the trailers.

That is parts of cutscenes, it's also technically gameplay though.

Not just cutscenes, there are parts of trailer 2 that actually look like gameplay from a fixed cinematic camera angle. Off the top of my head 'Trevor driving off in the Dune Buggy' & 'Franklin chasing a Cheetah'.

I don't have any source, But if you search for some SA videos there are some which are released before the game's release, like this one:

Because they don't need to. Everyone knows what the gameplay of a GTA game is like. They did it for LA Noire/Max Payne 3 and RDR because they aren't as popular. They had to show people what it was all about so people would buy it.

 

Plus, the less they show the better it will be for us when we play it. Do you want it spoiled? The people who complain that we don't get enough info or gameplay will be the ones who complain if Rockstar show too much. Do you all like complaining? Can Rockstar do nothing right for you all?

Rockstar actually responded to my email regarding on the quality of Trailer #2; they said that "As with all our game trailers, it was made entirely of gameplay footage and nothing was pre-rendered". So technically, it was gameplay.

IGN had some IV gameplay videos before release. Gamespot (I think) did a live gameplay stream. The woman called Burger shot Burger King. I Might be wrong.

I dont remember R* releasing any gameplay trailer for any GTA ever.

As for why, i dont really know. But its been like this since Vice City.

No, the trailers are not all cutscenes. They're about half cutscenes and half unscripted gameplay that somebody played with a controller, and recorded and played back with the camera angle changed (just like you can do in GTA IV's PC video editor) and of course edited into the trailer with a lot of other clips. For example, there is rarely much driving or shooting in GTA cutscenes, so when you see a driving or shooting scene in a trailer, it's probably gameplay. When you see any action in a trailer that's not the kind of thing you see in a cutscene, it's gameplay.

Gameplay at a cinematic angle? in the second trailer more then half that trailer was most likely cut scenes from the beginning of missions but I will give you trailer 1 like you said it was gameplay shown at a cinematic angle

 

Its just that some of us dont want to see gameplay all dressed up in a trailer, cuz the idea of a trailer it to sell the game and make the game look better then it actually is alot of trailers are scripted to show the consumer exciting stuff, for some of us, to get a true judgement on how the game plays or looks we just want that raw uncut footage just straight up gameplay, none of that cinematic Bull

No offence, but Watch Dogs is developed by Ubisoft. They can't make very good games.

I think the fact that rockstar never shows gameplay really sets them apart. The first time you play the game and see the HUD layout and the over the shoulder camera is magical

If they didn't change anything, it would play like GTA IV, not SR IV. You do know the Saints Row franchise is developed by Volition & not Rockstar.

Except SR is developed by Volition which is one of the worst companies after EA and Activision. And GTA V isn't out, don't judge a book by it's cover. Plus it's made by Rockstar, who haven't dissapointed since 1997. Stop ass licking Ubisoft, who are sh*t now. They've milked the AC franchise, killed the Driver series and even one of their workers moved to EA!!! EA, LOLOL!!

Most of the footage in both trailers was pure gameplay from cinematic angles. The character interaction parts were more than likely cutscenes because that's what GTA IV also did, the cinematics only showed dialogue and almost never action.

The trailers just show the action sequences in the game with music and not the mundane parts. If you want gameplay, wait for a review to come out (those are usually the first to show gameplay).
