stranger44
My "connection" with CJ was broken when the story sidetracked away from the mainplot. Yeah. What the hell happened to the story in that game? CJ kinda sucked as a GTA protagonist. The game would've been so much better if CJ was badass enough to just f*cking kill Tenpenny right at the start when he first starts giving you sh*t. Imagine Tommy Vercetti in that same situation. He'd have been like "Who the f*ck is this cocky ni**er!?", shot Tenpenny in the face, cut off his dick and mailed it to the local PD after burying the body. Acetaminophen
LOL @ People hating CJ. You're all f*cking racists. Here's the skinny, for you punk-ass tricks: - Claude in GTA 3: The blandest motherf*cker ever to live. "Oh, but we can shape him to our personality" THEN WHY KILL HOOKERS YOU SICK FREAK. - Tommy in VC: "Hi, I'm your generic mob guy with no feelings and I love to kill" SOOOO INTERESTING - Carl in SA: A guy who grew up in the rough part of Los Santos, left, came back, got screwed, realized how the 'hood was only holding him down and decided to venture out into the world, forced by his circumstances. It hit me that Carl grew over the course of the game... you can find the dialogue in Home Coming: Carl Johnson: I'm alright, man. Hey, man - we off to our new spot! We got a mansion, Sweet! We been putting in work, and sh*t is going well. We got a stake in a casino, we got some insane sh*t in Fierro, we're getting into the rap game! Hey man, let me get you some new clothes, c'mon! Sweet Johnson: New clothes? Nigga, what the f*ck is this bullsh*t? Carl Johnson: What you mean, man? What's mine is yours, and you know that. Sweet Johnson: You never did get it, did you, Carl? I need to check on things in the hood. Man, that's the problem. You always a perpetrator, runing from what's real. Carl Johnson: Hey man, sh*t's f*cked up there. You don't want to be in the hood. Sweet Johnson: No. That's exactly where I want to be. What you done for our hood? Carl Johnson: Man, what the hood done for me? Always dragging me down. Ever since I got out of the hood sh*t been cracking. That's everybody's dream, to get out of the hood... Sweet Johnson: Man, you sound just like Smoke right now. Carl Johnson: Alright, man, you hard. I'm gonna show you what's going on in the hood. See the dichotomy between Carl and Sweet? Sweet's stuck in his old ways, while Carl, realizing the world is bigger than his cul-de-sac, decides to do anything in his power to save his family and gang. [email protected] Butthurt! No but really San Andreas as amazing as it was.. the story was just all over the place CJ complained alot and a bunch of other things that I don't really care to talk about. But call people racist because they don't like a character is stupid. I think CJ is just above Luis. just by a little. "I can't make an argument so I will call this person butthurt." For people who hated Luis or CJ, chances are there's some inherent racist feelings inside of you. Considering your only argument was "he complained a lot" (because all the other protags don't complain at all, lol right?), it's safe to assume you just never liked the fact that CJ was a black dude. Vic Vance is my 3rd Fav protag. So everything you said is false. Just deal that some people don't like CJ not because he's black.

Quit calling people racist for not liking a character who just so happens to be black. That's not racist and it devalues the meaning. Pointing your finger and calling people racist for holding a certain opinion on a particular character is only a few pegs below racism itself in my opinion. Andreas
@Coral_City Claude was not just a bland character who didn't have a personality or whatever. The story was actually very interesting and that was probably one of the main points of the game, although it seems that not everyone prefers a story-based videogame. Catalina betrayed the protagonist as you can see in the intro video when you start the game. Since the Columbian Cartel wants to liberate someone who is in the same police van as Claude, he's lucky enough to escape together with 8-ball from the bridge which was demolished by the bomb that exploded. Instead of finding Catalina directly after you escape to kill her for betraying you, you are doing some missions for the mafia. Since Maria, the wife of Salvatore Leone, likes you, and the Don finds it out, you have to leave Portland and kill him once you're in Staunton Island, and speak to Asuka and Maria. Basically, you're working your way up and after you have done all the missions for all gangs in Liberty City [except the Columbian Cartel as they are your enemies], Catalina kidnaps Maria. You have to pay half a million of dollar in order to redeem her; Cat is lying again, she just wanted the money and she tells the Cartel to kill you. Claude is doing this what he wanted the whole time; he is able to kill the antagonist. Tommy in Vice City was not just another random mob guy with an uninteresting background story and a terrible worked out storyline. That is dependent on the opinion of every individual so basically, that is the same situation as with the story and protagonist of GTA III and San Andreas. Everyone thinks a bit different about it. I like it how Sonny sent Tommy to VC to let make him the dirty work. When some heavily armed guys at the start are robbing your money, your goal is it to get back the money. The first missions are only about that, nothing else. As time goes and after you have done a bunch of missions, Tommy cares less about it and his target is it to build an empire. He's having his own gang and with all the companies he owns after buying one after another, he is very successful. The tide is turning. Lance seemed to be Tom's best friend through the whole game until it turns out in the last missions that he betrayed him the whole time. Lance secretly worked with Sonny the whole time to gain profit from Tommy's business. Sonny and Lance, both seemed to be the protagonist's friends but in the end, they are the antagonists. There is one guy though who was with you and supported you all the time; Ken Rosenberg. The story in general was amazing and I think it's far better than the one of GTA SA. There are a bunch of things I dislike about San Andreas but one thing that bugs me the most is the storyline which was only one mess. When C.R.A.S.H. brought CJ to the Badlands and Sweet came into the prison, it was like the game stopped to make sense. It seemed like Carl is doing everything just to get Sweet out of prison but think about; you're participating in a race, you win a garage that is located in San Fierro and what do you do then there? You're doing some missions for guys like Jizzy, Wu Zi Mu, Zero, et cetera and your goal is it to take down the Loco Sydicate. It doesn't have anything to do with getting Sweet out of prison whatsoever. The Zero missions added variety to the game but they didn't help you to make progress in the story, in fact it doesn't matter if you play them or not, you could finish the game either way! There would have been other ways to include remote-controlled vehicles in the game. When you drive the first time to the desert, near Las Vanturas, because you get called by a guy who turns out to be Mike Toreno. Mike was involved in the Loco Syndicate and you had to kill him in SF which wasn't successful, apparently. He seems to know what is going on and he also knows where Sweet is. In order to get him out of prison, you have to learn how to fly and you have to kill a bunch of CIA agents in the desert who are heavily armed. Oh no, that's not everything! You even have to steal a Jetpack from a military base in a random mission that doesn't fit to the storyline in any way, and you have to fly with a fighter jet to blow up some communist boats and destroy two fighter jets that are flown by experienced fighter pilots! Hell, Carl can even kill tens of thousands of people but he is not able to simply drive to the prison and liberate his brother. If you think about it then these 'small mistakes' in SA don't seem to be that bad though. The amount of them is what makes the story relatively bad compared to other GTA games. Not only are some missions contradicting what CJ says during the story, it seems that some of the missions, that were a bit out of place, were just space filler. Although, like I said, that's dependent on the personal opinion whether you like the story of a certain game or not.
