1st Playable Character?

I think it has already been said that we start off with Michael. He's looking out over the city from his house then he grabs his bike and cycles through the city to go meet Franklin.

I guess it starts of like San Andreas, you get the cutscene and when it ends you walk to the garage to get the bike then you go through the city for the first time.

 

I could be completely wrong though.

I wonder if, instead of 3 islands as it usually is, it's 3 characters. Play as Michael for a bit before unlocking Trevor, then do some of Trevors missions, then you go back to Mike and bump into Franklin, then all three do jobs together.

It's been confirmed by GI like people have said before, Micheal is who we start with. There's a scene with his family, his wife takes the car out to shop, so he takes the bike to Franklin or Trevor, can't remember.

Edit: I just rewatched the 2nd trailer and there is a big chance it's Michael, because he arranges the meating between Franklin and Trevor. (And you see Michael and Franklin meet for the first time. And apperantly GI confirmed we'll start as Michael, so no debating there 8))

KHM we already know this. GI already said we watch 3 cutscenes with each character, and lastly we watch Michaels intro and he goes for a ride on a bike or something so yea... micheal

It's an interesting question and I wonder how Rockstar are going to do it. If we start off as Michael when do we first get to play as Trevor and Franklin? It can't be when Michael first meets up with them because that would mean Michael is the main character and the other two are supporting characters. One thing that Rockstar keep trying to promote and all the game magazines/sites keep reiterating is that there are three protagonists in GTA V. You don't only play as Michael. Aside from the missions that feature two or all three protagonists, you will be doing individual missions as Michael, Trevor and Franklin.

True. But i thought they also said it was further into the story. I could be wrong.

That was a hands off demo though. Everything in it could be completely different by now. Plus, after these new trailers coming up we may have a different opinion on who the main lead character is. We just say michael because we have a little more info on him than the others. It could change

Someone pointed out in this thread that they meant that the Demo starts with Michael. Idk if that demo was the actual starting to the game itself. I doubt it was.

 

Still, I am 100% sure it will start with Michael and we will meet Franklin and Trevor when Michael meets them.

Shot in the dark, but I have a feeling that we'll begin with a 'just another day' mission for Michael, he goes out on the bike as the wife's taken the car, (as referenced in the GI preview, I believe, it's been a while), take us on a little scenic route through LS, go back, meet the family, have an argument, Michael goes out on a stress-relieving walk, and then guess who he meets while sitting on a bench? Franklin

Think of Pulp Fiction, when we first see Butch it's when Vincent and Jules arrive at the pub. Butch isn't a supporting character however. That's just a way of introducing the character. A more recent example can be found in the film: "A Place Beyond the Pines", the first time we see Bradley Cooper's character is later in the film when Ryan Gosling is on the run from a few other police officers. Cooper most certainly is not a supporting character

 

 

Even if the first time we met Franklin is through one of Michael's missions, it doesn't make Franklin seem like a supporting character- unless of course Franklin is less important and has less missions than both Michael and Trevor.

 

Rockstar has a film-like editing style to their video games, which means Michael may be thinking about Trevor, or talking about Trevor- something of the sort, you get the point- then the frame will cut to Trevor doing something in the desert and we'll start playing as him.

 

For Franklin, Michael could be thinking: "I need a getaway driver", and bam, the next frame cuts to Franklin driving a car fast and whatnot, and we start playing as Franklin. I'm sure something like that will happen.

 

I'm also pretty sure the intro will introduce us to all three characters before we even start playing the video game.

I think we will start with Michael then the other two will be introduced staggered like island's 2 and 3 (using the old islands format), but will be in a shorter amount of time.

 

I think we start as Michael and the first mission will be that mentioned one where you ride your bike into downtown LA... meet quest giver one, do some missions (5-10) that eventually leads you to the beach area where you stumble across franklin (shown in trailer 2), then both Michael and franklin will have 2-4 individual "main" missions to do, before a mission that either can do appears, which will be meeting Trevor at the hele (also shown in trailer 2).

 

Either that or franklin and Michael will have more individual missions (side and main), then Michael will get an extra "main" mission line relating to Trevor then the meeting mission will appear.

 

I personally cant see them introducing them all really early, in the same way they never introduced all 3 islands "that" early (I found it happened waay to fast in IV, in III getting to island 2 was a huge chunk of game!)

Michael. We saw him first. Plus, in trailer 2 he bumps into Franklin when being asked a question by him, and Trevor obviously needs convincing because of having to 'swing by to sign the contracts'.

I think you're all misunderstanding him! I assume he thinks we'll get to choose who to start as.

 

As for me, I think Trevor, cuz no one's expecting it.

If you look at the poll results then look at your logic, you'll see that there is a huge gap
