Welcome to the Marvel vs DC Universe topic This is a topic where I'd like to know which people think is best and who would win the war. There are many topics on the web, comics, books, etc. this topic it's for you guys to decide and talk among yourselves to see who is the better of the two universes. I mean Spider-man, Daredevil, Wolverine (my favorite), Iron man, Hulk, Thor and the list goes on. DC has also awesome heroes but I like Marvel's a little more... I like them both. I love them both. But as for who has the best characters, or at least my favorite, Marvel wins for shear volume. Batman is by far my favorite comic book character, but after that there's only a couple DC characters I like. Superman (sometimes), Green Arrow, Nightwing, Red Hood and various Batman family members. But when it comes to Marvel, I'm a pretty consistent fan of most of their big hitters. Cap, Hulk, Wolverine, Hawkeye, all of the X-men, Thor, I can go on. My favorite heroes are Green Arrow, Cyborg, and Big Bertha (Is she even a hero? I just remember fighting her in a video game, and I always thought she had a pretty fun power). I like both brands,and I've encountered Marvel more than DC,but I just preffer DC because it's somehow better to me.Marvel has a big roster of good characters,but DC has a smaller roster of characters,but they are very good and interesting characters. DC and Marvel certainly has awesome superhero characters. Love all of their superheroes, their traits and there combat prowess. Together they rule comic superhero universe. I don't find any of the Marvel characters that interesting to be honest, besides maybe the X-Men. The fact that Batman's just a man has always appealed to me, and lends to the idea that perhaps there is someone out-there like him, which is something I'm sure we'd all like to believe. I do like other Marvel superheroes (eg, Spidey, Wolverine) but I simply prefer DC, it might be because (in my opinion) it has way better villains. For Marvel, the style still looks a bit too childish at some part. Yes there have been gritty points in the stories but I really disliked the way they have been pulled off. The whole Civil War thing was too cheesy for my tastes. They, And also I never really cared for Spiderman or Captain America, I find them too boring. But I must say, for a boring character like Spiderman, he sure had some terrifying villains. Norman Osbourne, Carnage to name a few. But other than that? The villains are so uninspiring. Dr.Doom? Pfft. He's just a bad scientist in armor. For DC though? Marvel got boring characters but DC? Plenty more. I mean, who the f*ck cares about Aquaman, Shazam, Hawkgirl, Green Lantern?! There's the only complaint I have against DC, lackluster characters. Now for the praises, Marvel has some of the most iconic characters ever. It's hard not to love Iron Man, Wolverine, Magneto, f*cking Deadpool. They nailed characters and their personalities right. People read comics because of the very imaginative characters and Marvel have that part right. The idea of a very rich dude who uses his wealth to build armors of awesomeness attracts readers. For DC, honestly Gotham City (note how I didn't use Batman) has delivered the most badass storytelling in graphic novels history. Seriously, go read The Long Halloween, Year One or Hush. Fantastic f*cking A reads. Gotham City is a great playground for storytelling. Batman, Joker, Catwoman, Two-Face, Nightwing, Talia, and even more characters. Gotham City has given birth to these awesome characters. The place has a rich history in comics and this fact alone can be the only reason to support DC. So yeah, my favorite character is Deadpool because he's f*cking Deadpool. But my favorite stories has always been Batman's graphic novels. There are always up and downs to each side of the coin. There's a reason this unlikely pair have always been known as "world's finest." Each is the antithesis of the other: Batman is human and vulnerable, compensating for his lack of powers with his wealth and analytic skills that make him the world's greatest detective and the best humanity has to offer, despite his feigned playboy persona critiquing the selfishness and narcissism of the elite; Superman is practically invulnerable save for kryptonite, he is alien to this world, but nonetheless elects to represent "truth, justice, and the American way," while his "secret identity" is ultimately a critique of the frailty and cowardice of the common man. Both Batman and Superman lost their parents, both perceive themselves as defenders of order and humanity, albeit from completely different perspectives: Batman is a mortal, Superman is virtually a god. Don't get me wrong, I love Spiderman and the X-men as well (I prefer their classic runs, essentially Amazing Spiderman 1-60 or so, and Uncanny X-men 94-150 or so). However, as I am obviously gay for Bats and Supes, I prefer Justice League to the Avengers and, other than the aforementioned flagship comic franchises, most other DC and Marvel characters suck balls. f*ck Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Fantastic Four, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Flash etc. Sure, those characters aren't bad, but Superman, Batman, Spiderman, and the X-men will always be my faves, and Bats and Supes will always have the most timeless, epic lore. Bats and Supes are the modern day Odysseus and Achilles respectively. Also, DC has Watchmen, one of the greatest comic series ever. And, frankly, no Marvel story arcs can really hold a candle to The Dark Knight Returns or Knightfall imho. Props to the X-men for the Phoenix and Dark Phoenix sagas, though.
