Mista J
If your parents don't trust you with violent video games they're pretty much doubting your intelligence and are worried you don't know what is right and wrong.
mulder84
Probably, but not because of age. Both my parents are staunchly anti-gaming, saying they waste time, rot your minds, bla-bla... My dad's in the IT industry, but I have never seen him play any games before, except maybe the occasional iPhone game or arcade games back when I was a kid. So it wasn't until I was quite old before I started playing video games. Lately they've been more lax, probably since I'm still waiting for university to start, but I guess when GTA V comes out they will be making a fuss out of it again. DODI3OG
My mom is not fine with me shooting people, hearing explicit words and seeing adult scenes.Though, I'll play the game when she's still at her office; before she arrives at home. Lol She even played GTA SA before. She was just cruising around, though. It got bad since GTA 4, when she saw me kill French Tom, she was angry because the homo guy didn't even do something to me(she didn't know about the missions) and I killed him. She was more worried about me ripping and running the streets of Oakland. Swag

Six Paths of Pain
I find it so funny how sheltered some of these kids are now a days. My first introductions into video games where all Rated M games like Mortal Kombat, Metal Gear Solid & Bloody Roar. Even with all the blood, cursing, shootings, stabbings, explosions, dismemberments and everything in-between, i've still yet to go on a school rampage or be "extremefied" my a crazy religious group *stupid political argument can go out the window I still remember when my dad surprised me with Vice City for my 9th birthday. We stayed up till 2-3 am that night going on rampages against the military together with the Hunter haha Edited April 19, 2013 by Six Paths of Pain
dagangsta
I'm 15 and my momma can't do a sh*t to me, BTW my dad likes GTA. Once when I came home from school my dad was playing TBoGT and doing the mission Icing On The Cake. He actually succeed. I'm still impressed that he managed to even start the game LOL, but going back to the question, no, my parents will gimme sum cash and I will play it in the sittin room

zeppelincheetah
I am getting to the point where I may have to keep it on the down low because of how old I am. I will be 29 when this game comes out lol. Back in the day my parents didn't care about mature rated videogames. Well my mom did but I got my dad to buy me some (divorced parents = kids get ANYTHING they want) I had GTA 1 and GTA 2 when I was 15 and before that I got Duke Nukem 64 when I was 13. Never had to do it in secret.
John Footpenis
I'm finally of legal age to buy this game (17). However, my parents never really cared what I played. My mom even bought me IV at the midnight release after she got off of work. My dad likes to watch the games I play sometimes and he is always amazed at how realistic they are becoming. He even gets a few chuckles when I jump out of cars or smash into walls at high speeds. Sometimes he even likes to see the type of damage I can deal out with weapons I have. My oldest (26) said he's interested to see V after I showed him a few pics and trailer 1 and 2. I doubt too many people actually have to play this in secret. There's way too many kids online now for me to believe otherwise.
saintsrow
I am 17 years old and am considered underage to play a videogame. Despite this, I'm about to start a career in the military. f*ck logic. Plus, you're going to hear all those bad words in boot camp Good luck. Given that most parents don't mind their kids playing video games with high body count, but they get bent out of shape if they hear their kid playing a game with a string of cuss words like you hear in movies and on cable TV every day, there was a great discussion about how to play GTAV without hearing the usual vulgarities, which might be a way around the hiding and sneaking GTAV as a latchkey kid. I wrote a little story about how this might work. Or maybe GTAV could have a "Mom mode," the way PC games used to have a "Boss mode" that popped up an Excel spreadsheet at the touch of a hotkey. GTAV could have a Mom mode cheat key sequence that pops up a fun little game of rainbows, unicorns, and fields of colorful flowers, and the player is a handsome prince trying to find the golden chalice to rescue the beautiful princess. Blaherman
When GTA IV came out I was 17 so my GF at the time surprised me with it, never had to worry about my parents though they'd have probably bought it me if I'd asked they're not radicalists. I'm 22 now so will have no issues buying it but I seriously hope that parents are stricter than mine because I can't be arsed with a bunch of 13 year old fa**ots on multiplayer telling me how fat my mom is or how they are going to sexually gratify her. Welcome to the new era of gaming, kids against adults. I remember seeing at Walmart once a baby jumper for cod black ops 2 and I was like yeeeeeep no way are games gonna be child free in a few years. Durden
Are there REALLY parents out there who would not allow their 17 year old child to play a 18 rated game ?.. Of course there is. My cousin's mom was like that when he was too young. But I don't really know why you bring this up, considering GTAV is rated M for mature, which means persons aged 17+ may play. Unless you have a different rating system, such as that "Pegi" sh*t.
RedShotBR
Well, to be honest, my mom never really cared about what I've played on my PS2/PS3/PC. She just gave me the games and from there on it was up to me what to do. My dad just thinks that such games are boring, regardless if it's GTA or FarmVille. Although, I recall a friend of mine that can't play GTA whenever he wants because his dad is a cop.
GoldenBlade
I have a friend who plays GTA in secret, though. His mom doesn't want him playing any violent games, but he owns every GTA game in the series. The only time he gets to play GTA is when his parents are asleep. Capricornus
Certainly not. I have my own place and a career, no need to hide something that I like to do. OP: I'm 16 and I'm old enough to get a car and crash some pedestrians in real life (of couse illegaly) but I'm not old enough to crash hookers in a video game world, but hey, it don't matter, I'll just fap until this sh*t comes out. Mista J
Saw the funniest sh*t at GameStop a couple of weeks ago, some kid was in line with his mom buying San Andreas and as soon as the GameStop employee said there was Sex, Drugs and Violence his mom was like "Put it back" the he was like "BUT MOM!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!" I swear he shed a tear. That sh*t was funny as hell especially since it was in a crowded store. xD
JupiterSound
I got gta 3 in kindergarten. My mom took me to Walmart to buy it. I've been playing gta ever since. And don't say I have bad parents or that a kid that age shouldn't be playing gta, because contrary to popular belief, kids can play such games without growing up to be a violent psychopath. I am glad my parents let me choose what to watch/play as a kid, and I will do the same with my own someday.
