Pantera2198
After writing my own thread, and then reading others threads, I realized people get some kind of tunnel vision and then smash the idea because it sounds to hard,or it wouldn't fit etc. etc. then I realized it's just filled with simple minded ignorance. Yes a small feature of parkour would be great. Not meaning extreme parkour that certain individuals practice their entire lives to achieve, but well enough that a fence or certain obstacles could easily be tackled with little time in between the flow and speed you were running at in the first place. It seems this thread however got littered with what spawned out of a ignorant narrow minded kids mouth stating that parkour is for running away and in GTA you stand in the middle of the street and shoot till you die... narrow minded and ignorant. Sometimes I want to get a wanted leve and get away, sometimes I want to get over a simple obstacle with out the hassle of a grandpa who has to exert all his energy to get over. GTA.net is a great place, for ignorance and narrow minded people come to talk about their ideas and thrash those of others whom tend to sometimes bring out a good point and follow through with a decent amount of logic explaining in detail the simple request that they would like to see happen. For those of you narrow minded and ignorant mustards...go back to the "what will you be doing when V is released" thread.
UncleVlad
Pretty sweet. Hated the slow movement in IV. Getting over fences and even some interaction while touching a wall would be cool. Not too much parkour, just some basic stuff.
meson1
It doesn't even need to be actual parkour. All it needs to be is the elimination of the sluggishness, improved responsiveness and the addition of some fluidity, so that the player can transition smoothly between different movements. That would be a basic improvement over GTA:IV anyway. If some players then want to "role play" some parkour, they can. Everyone else benefits from the improved controls and gameplay. Surely, everyone wins here.

Durden
couldn't you just play sleeping dogs or assassins creed? I should just play RDR for the animals, GT5 for the cars and f*cking roadrash for the bikes. In fact, I shouldn't play GTA at all. This, exactly. We (most of us at least) play GTA for the variety of activities & plethora of options. Its a good thing we have free roam games like GTA or we'd have to buy a new game for each type of gameplay/genre that we seek. Why include Tennis in GTAV when we could just buy R*'s Table Tennis game? Or Golf, when we have Tiger's PGA? What's the point of driving trains; GTA isn't a train simulator. Why include a strip club/prostitutes when we could just torrent some really f*cked up Japanese games? Options are good. You don't have to do something that's optional. The only valid point against 'optional' would be if it ruins the game's reputation. For example... If there was a zombie DLC for V. Optional, but very unfitting and facetious when looking at GTA's direction, tone-wise. Parkour is f*cking awesome, and the above point of it 'ruining the game's tone/rep' is invalid, since Parkour serves as an extremely useful tool for escaping police on foot. Although there are 40-50 year olds out there doing splendid parkour (just search YouTube), I can understand some complaints since Michael nor Trevor seem particularly athletic. But Franklin has no excuse not to be able to do some advanced parkour. You've got to be pretty damn dense if you dislike parkour -- Its a form of art/expression reverting back to our primal instincts, but above all, a hell of tool where you're constantly running away/running after people. If, before it was said by R*, someone would have even mentioned yoga or tennis they would have been laughed out of the forum haha. It doesn't have to be full blown parkour moves, whatever they may be, just some additions to make hopping around a bit flow with the gameplay better. If it were up to some "THIS IS GTA NOT ____" people, all you would do is steal a car and see the victory credits roll. Maybe in the future these people will get their wishes, you enter Michaels house, walk up to the ping pong table.. You're then prompted "Press Y/Tri\ to play Table Tennis".. you press the button and it then sends you to PSN/XBL Marketplace where you can then buy R* Table Tennis. Nemesis2252
i cant picture michael, in his early 40's doing parkour. neither can i see a trailer trash trevor doing it. franklin, eh not really. besides, as a whole i cant picture parkour fitting into a gta universe.... its always been a straightforward shoot em up and run em down type of game, as opposed to a..... whatever the best way to describe parkour is kind of game. TheQuestfor100Percent
Fluid movements like this would completely change the way the game is played. It can be a good or bad thing based on what you like. I don't think it would be considered an "optional" way of moving around. I don't think I would like it in the game, I just prefer traditional GTA movements, including IV's sluggishness. I would like to see the ability to slide over car hoods/roofs, and jump small fences without having to come to a complete stop and then jump. Until San Andreas arrived, GTA games did not have vaulting over fences. Until Vice City came, we only had cars. Until GTA IV came, mobile phones were non-interactive in a sense, ie, no text messaging, no outgoing calls, etc, etc. How do a 40 year old ex-robber [and] a 25 year ex-gangbanger flying a f*cking airplane sound like? Yeah, retarded. But we love that retardness of GTA.

Secura
Parkour's the natural next step for Grand Theft Auto in general, if Rockstar just sat by and watched as every other game's company started producing games like Watch_Dogs, Assassin's Creed and Sleeping Dogs then Rockstar is going to be in a bad position. Do you think that people are going to be stuck playing a Rockstar game like Grand Theft Auto when they get a much better more fluid experience elsewhere in the market? No of course they wouldn't. More then anything else a Grand Theft Auto player wants the ability to better toy and interact with the world around them, and parkour's such a huge change to the game as it forever changes how we'll go about getting from point A to point B and that's what Grand Theft Auto's always been about. Reinventing the wheel as it were, adding parkour to Grand Theft Auto V or VI would vastly improve the enjoyment players would get from simply being in the world around them. Grand Theft Auto's always tried to be the game that offers you the most options to do anything; for example let's say that you're sitting on a bench in Los Santos just admiring the beautiful city and you notice a nearby skyscraper that looks to have something of interest on it, imagine having the option to scale it. Just that word right there tells you just how much it would add to the game, the ways and means of travelling around the world (were the feature to be properly implemented of course) would be nigh on endless. You could go from being on the edge of your seat swerving in and out of traffic to avoid the SA:PD to jumping out of your car grabbing onto your door, ripping it off and using it to surf down the street using the momentum you gained in the chase to propel you forwards. You could then leap from said door (keep in mind that you're currently surfing across the road) onto another vehicle, building or grappling point. That, as I've said before would add so much to nearly every aspect of the game, the choice to be able to truly do a mission the way you want to do it (which seems to be exactly what Rockstar are striving for here) or travel around the city leaping from car to building to tree would be insane. It's a feature that needs to implemented sooner or later and when it is expect it to be the biggest and best one in a Grand Theft Auto game since their transition over to 3D. IAmFairbrother
We can run, jump, leap and grasp on to ledges already. So what R* might do is just make it abit more smooth. Any it's all there just needs tinkering with.

The game itself is "bullsh*t" - if I go by your standards - considering the fact that Trevor just nonchalantly fired using his figter jet...just over Vine-f*cking-Wood. Parkour, or at least more fluid movements, is not[/b] some supernatural/sci-fi stuff. It is very much there in the real world.

ugotsmoked
I do not care for Parkour, I do hope they improve the running animation so we can run a lot faster and get up to top speed a lot faster.
