DODI3OG
What's the point of buying cars from Dealerships if you could just break into the building and steal the vehicle ala-GTA?
Chukkles
An idea I like is that if you buy a car, that is your car that stays where it is or spawns at safehouse when destroyed, for a fee.

Freezer89
What's the point of killing people with guns when you just can run them over with your car? What's the point of earning money through missions when you can just kill peds and steal their money? What's the point of this topic when you can just get off the internet? Okay, the latter did not make any sense.. but you get my point. In all seriousness: You don't want to break the window, or you don't want to be chased by the police when you can just legally get a car without damage at all. My guess. Durden
1. Consistency 2. Purpose to spend money 3. Less risk To expand on each point: There is a huge variety of cars in GTAV. What are the chances of finding the one you want? A dealership guarantees this, and in only a few minutes, too. It will give rich endgame players something to throw their money at. R* said it will be more difficult to steal things, such as their example about stealing an airplane -- that the airport security won't take kindly to it. I assume stealing cars will also be somewhat of a challenge. Buying a car saves you this trouble.
straightandfast
If you buy it then you'll be linked to it. So, if you use it for any crimes then the police will appear at your house and try arrest you. Also, they could make it so that car stays in memory for longer so if you go back it won't disappear and if you leave it too long they'll tow it and tell you to pick it up for a fee. If you wreck it or someone crashes into you then you can get insurance to pay for a single PayNSpray visit or give you a new car. Another thing would be that if you buy a cheap car after so long you can get a discount on a better car if you give them back your old car. Just some ideas on why you should buy a car over stealing it. Doubt it'll happen though.

You go to a dealership and buy a car, then suddenly it's delivered into your parking space/garage? Or you go the other way around and buy a car through a website then the same thing above happens? You don't want to break the window, or you don't want to be chased by the police when you can just legally get a car without damage at all. My guess. There's pay'n spray to repair the broken windows and damage. I agree w/ you on the police part, though. Edited April 18, 2013 by DODI3OG
Knife
If you buy a car it could mean a few things: 1. Abandon it somewhere and it will be returned to your safehouse. Maybe you incur a fee to retrieve it. 2. Car gets destroyed? Again, you can get it from your safehouse but for a larger fee. But a fee that's nothing like buying the car again. 3. If car customisation is in, you get to keep your unique car. Spending money on a stolen car would only be temporary.
TheQuestfor100Percent
I imagine buying a car would go down with the dealer saying something like "Pick any car you like!" and you just get into a car, and it doesn't give you a wanted level. I doubt they will deliver it to your safehouse or anything. I actually can't wait to see the exotic car dealership Franklin works for.

But, finding that car and customizing it again(assuming customization is back) would give the game more replay values. Should car customization not return in GTA V, maybe the car dealership/'s website will give us the option to.

It's the only way buying cars would work. You go to www.autoerotica.com (or whatever it was) on your smartphone/computer, and just order a car and it will be shipped to your safehouse. Also, what if when you buy a car, the dealer installs a GPS chip into it, and a companion app on your smartphone will allow you to see where, on the map, the car is at all times, and the car would never dissapear only when destroyed. Cheatz/Trickz
It might be like SA. Repossess cars, then export them. You can buy them on certain days. It would still be good to buy from showrooms too and the net, AutoEroticar etc. If they're realistically priced then its a good reason to earn money and buy them. It would be even more worth it if they came with bulletproof tires etc.

TheQuestfor100Percent
I think cars should be priced according to how it is in real life. I disliked stealing an Infernus for Stevie in IV and only getting $30 something grand. If I buy an Infernus, it should be ridiculously priced. $200,000. Assuming you found the car you're searching for(by buying or searching for it), that car would spawn almost EVERYWHERE on the map because of RAGE's flaw(w/c is a trademark flaw of RAGE). bowling...?
Buy rare cars. They'd have to be really expensive though because then it wouldn't be that rare. I would also like my car to spawn wherever I left it like how in Bully you could alway go back to your bike. If it is stolen then I would want to be able to report it. This adds more to do in the game and makes roleplayng more fun.
AuSsIeThUnDeR36
I think the hidden vehicle thing has to go. My point is, once one person finds it (for example the RS Sultan hidden in IV) and uploads the location then everyone gets it. Makes the game way too simple. I think you should have ten special gold edition vehicles, all super fast and BP/DP/EP and have to earn them, as they are all locked up behind a barred off gate that is impossible to get into. Outside the gate is a guy who tells you the price to buy it, which should be really expensive like $80,000-$200,000 and to go along with those ten beauties you need to buy a ten car storage facility which is $50,000. It would make working for those gold cars a goal to achieve instead of just google searching for hidden vehicles that are easy pickings

I imagine they will be similar to the horse deeds in RDR. You purchase the car at a dealership or online & receive a pink slip. Whenever you want your car, you just select it from your list of owned cars in your inventory or phone & it will be delivered to you (like in EFLC). If this is the case, don't expect them to be cheap.

Yeah and should be a little more difficult to steal too.Could be sites or like SA a ship could import it to the dock. Bulletproof parts would help in side missions, past GTA's have all had bulletproof cars. All this does seem unlike GTA though and more Saints Row like as it expanded on SA. Websites seem the best way if they do it, it could just list any special attributes. The car would just appear as a blip on the map after buying it (like Bruci'es thefts, except not a mission). Who says you can steal them? R* can easily make certain car doors unable to be unlocked. Or maybe you cant physically enter the dealership, maybe you have to walk into an icon to load a 'buying car' segment. Its a game, there are ways to prevent access to certain things. zainzombie
I loved buying cars in Sleeping dogs. There can be many good reasons why cars should be buy-able like if they get blown up, they spawn back at your place. Customization and they also can sell unique cars (that you never see on the roads) that only a player can buy for himself for a LARGE amount. Apart from all of that, it would be okay to steal cars with Franklin or even Trevor but Michael (who is pretty rich) stealing a car wouldnt go with his character. Ofcourse you should be able to steal cars as him BUT it would be a nice touch if he drives his personal cars.
