Mista J
Okay, my dumbass bought a used iPhone 5 off the street. The guy said he only used it for a few weeks and that he doesn't want it. Now he gave me the box, earbuds. The phone has some scratches but not too bad, on the box it says it it supports CMDA and GSM. He said he had it on Verizon, now I'm scared it was reported stolen/lost to get a profit and a free phone. If I insert my SIM card will it work since its on a different network? Finn 7 five 11
The stupidity... Anyway, that aside, it depends, if it's locked to Verizon then no, your Sim won't work and you'll need a Verizon sim card. Some companies (Rarely) don't lock their phones though, put your sim in and try it. If you bought a stolen phone, you could be a good person and send the serial number somewhere so it can be returned, or just keep using it, if you get caught, then tell em your story, lost phones very rarely show up again though. winme05
Well, there is an option to do an unofficial unlock, but I don't think it's legal everywhere. I used that on my i3G, and all I was able to get, was the iPad Baseband, which is quite of a battery drainer, but it might be a better case with the iPhone 5. Mista J
I have T-Mobile, and realized the iPhone 5s use nano sims so I'm going to have to risk my SIM card. If anything I might end up iPod. Edited April 18, 2013 by Erebos
JayC
I'm fairly certain Verizon iPhones are sold unlocked so you should be okay. Pop in to T-Mobile and ask to test a sim before you cut your own down.
