Deffpony
It has basically been confirmed that there is a mission or set of missions based around a jewel heist. What interests me is what would the protagonists do with jewels. They cant exactly walk into a bank and deposit a bag of diamonds. Which leads me to believe that there will be some outside influences on certain heists and why we pursue them. Ideally, stolen jewels would be better off in the hands of someone of mass wealth, who can buy the jewels from our "heros" and distribute them discretely overseas. This makes me think that not every heist will be about getting cash for the three protagonists, but perhaps pursuing the desires of others. Here is a scenario. Lets say Jimmy gets kidnapped by the mexican mafia. The mexicans will only give him back on the conditions that our three protagonists break into the military base and rob the armory, supplying the mexicans with weapons. What do you guys think? What would the protags do with the jewelry? What outside motives could there be for some of the main heists???
GTAfan786
Yeah i think so too. Most likely obviously making money from it, either selling it to rich people like you said, or God knows tbh, i can't even think anymore
theNGclan
Or, you know, they could illegally sell them like the diamonds in IV....
Deffpony
Or, you know, they could illegally sell them like the diamonds in IV.... Sell them to who. I really think most of the heists are going to involve the interests of others
zainzombie
There will definitely be buyers/black market to sell to. Or maybe a middleman who buys stuff from them and smuggles them out of the country or something like that.
wallis
The Gameinformer interview on You Tube said there would be a series of missions based around the planning of each major hiest. I would imagine some would be bank robberies taking cash. With the diamonds, I would imagine after each hiest there would be a series of missions based around the sale of the goods. There could be missions where you have to move the goods to avoid detection. There maybe missions based on defending the goods from other gangs and the police/fbi. InternetKillTV
I think we're going to be looking at a Breaking Bad type deal again. Sorry, it's just the only thing I know I can compare it too. We'll have our 3 protagonist armed roughly with a similar goal, to make money. We know that the FIB's involvement is there in some way in terms of influencing them to get together. Michael must have agreed to assist them in turn for his witness protection sweet type deal. After all, they're extracting a prisoner FOR the FIB in GI, FIB ordered it. I believe that in the over-arching plot for cash there will be many speed bumps and set backs, unpredicted issues etc like how Walt for a season and a half basically makes very little money due to such setbacks in Breaking Bad. Revolution-XW
You could be able to trade them for certain items. Special, perhaps or "toys". You could sell it back to a different jewelry store, or trade it in for money to the bank or someone who lives in the rich areas near Michael. Passwrd
If your question is what would Micheal, Franklin, and Trevor do with the jewelry my answer is that they would sell the stolen jewelry. Besides the tons of rich bosses from various organizations and possibly kidnappers, there is also the black market... on the internet. It would be pretty realistic and possible for them to secretly sell them online through the black market, the only problem with selling anything for profit whether it'd be jewelry, gold, or drugs, I think the difficult part is how is Micheal going to sneak all of this right under the FIB's nose? Racecarlock
That's actually a pretty good moral choice. Sell the diamonds and/or guns to someone else, leaving your son to be killed by the mafia or get your son back and end up supplying a large group of criminals with firearms. That's a pretty hard choice right there. You really have to choose who you give a f*ck about.
Grand Theft Savage
Didn't think of it that way. I just thought that Franklin would hit the block and sell the jewels, or either Michael or Trevor could have a buddy buy them. I think it'll be interesting to see what else they steal. I'd like to perform a snatch & grab mission in a military base, stealing advanced hardware. That would be epic as hell.
StarFyer
Seeing as how Michael is a professional thief, I'm pretty sure he has connections to unload hot jewelry.
MattyIce
Kinda lost me when you went from jewels to Mexicans wanting guns I think we'll heist a jewelry store so Franklin can bedazzle the rims on his impala, and of course chop's collar.

The point about this thread is to show how its possible that some of the heists arent simply about getting cash in the pockets of the protagonists. The jewels would more than likely be sold to someone else, and I would assume that this person would state he wants them before the idea of the heist even comes to mind for the trio. The mexican example was just to illustrate other means of heists that are done due to conflict with outside sources
IronZombie
There could be a mission after the jewel heist where you try and sell the jewels to a black market dealer or something like that. Perhaps trouble could arise during your sale. Think of it in terms of Breaking Bad. Walter White and Jesse have just gone to great lengths to create a bunch of meth, but now they have to sell it. Do they go door to door to sell it? Do they stand on a street corner? Nope. They let the big drug dealer in town handle distribution. All they have to do is make a deal with him, but that can be tricky.
PutAQuarterIn
Wouldn't feel like GTA if there wasn't some sort of outside mission givers. There should a good balance of rouge government agency mission givers and criminal organization mission givers. Out there thought-Could who ever is interested in the jewelry possibly have something to do with a returning character? Tony? Jerry?
GTA-King
Out there thought-Could who ever is interested in the jewelry possibly have something to do with a returning character? Tony? Jerry? hobodealerr
It's like you said. We'll steal the jewels, then sell the jewels on the black market. Sell em to cops, get blackmailed. Who knows. Rockstar loves exploring the concept of betrayal and corruption. Keeping my eyes on Franklin.

CaptainCapri
I think people need to really stop looking into every little bit of information we know about GTA V, its good to have 'theories' etc and I do respect some peoples 'theories' but seriously just wait until we get the game! Jewellery is easily sellable on the black market as are other things such as stolen art, weapons, drugs etc. etc...

Yes, the Jewellery shop is called Vangelleco hence the V shaped door handle.

Or you can have a buyer waiting to purchase the stones from you before you even start planning the heist.
Los Santos County Sheriff
I really think you guys are over thinking this. What will probably happen after a jewel heist is you will see "Mission Complete" and you will get a cash reward. Thats it. Not everything has to be complicated people. Also, I got a feeling that if jimmy was kidnapped by the mexicans Michael wouldn't care much. I wouldn't. The mexicans can keep him.
Killerdude
I've always wondered why people like to steal High-Profile sh*t, like, most of the country would be looking for stuff like that, so who'd take that big a risk and buy it? I hope any object specific heists will involve weapons or vehicles or something awesome. Like money, Money is awesome.
GourangaMaster
Jewellery is easily sellable on the black market as are other things such as stolen art, weapons, drugs etc. etc... Pretty much this. Question is moot imho, obviously the ends will always be about money wether it be the 3 making it for themselves or some outside parties and since its grand theft auto the means will always be something illegal. In this case a jewellery heist. The motives behind these things is a fairly general topic to speculate on. It is basically trying to brainstorm on possible mission structures and story developements which is such a broad discussion it could easily be placed in one of the numerous mission idea threads.
