STHeavenHTHell
Ok, here we go. We see that Rockstar is making excellent games but, could be tests? Rage Engine worked very well for GTA IV. New ragdolls and a dense city as LC too. Then Red Dead Redemption released. A vast, countryside open world game with a fauna and flora ecossystem, survive elements and all kinds of american-mexican animals and the inventary system. A weapon whell too and an excellent multiplayer. Snow, forests, deserts and swamps. Then LA Noire. Realistic facial mechanics, an bigger urban map than GTA IV one ansd a cool fist combat sys. MP3. We have shooting mechanics better than RDR and the portuguese language. E And now, GTA V. So, could all the IV era games bea kind of test for a bigger final game to finish the IV era? r34ld34l
Every game is kinda of a test. Next one will be probaly even better than GTA V, probaly on new engine or at least updated.

Dick Valor
The only next gen games I'm confident R* are working on are V and Agent. Why so confident? So far, both V and Agent are only confirmed for current gen consoles. OT: V will indeed be the culmination of everything R* has learned working on IV, MCLA, RDR, and MP3 (L.A. Noire wasn't a RAGE game). That said, I think this trend will continue into next gen. The transition from RAGE to RAGE 2.0 won't be nearly as dramatic as the transition from Renderware to RAGE this gen. Why would R* spend so much time developing its own proprietary game engine just to start from scratch each new console cycle? Overall, R* games (especially GTA and Red Dead) are just going to get bigger and better... provided we aren't nickled and dimed with DLC, DRM, and all that other nonsense next gen. Agreed^ I think every game that has something new is a sort of test, & every game after improves on what they've learned. & if V is the last big game of this console era, surely it'll be incredible. Maggot899
Rockstar did hire on next gen developers so they could be working on anything really. Am I too hopeful in thinking that we may see a Manhunt 3?

GTAfan786
lol if you think Agent is coming out current gen you are deluded. It's PlayStation 3 exclusive as stated by Rockstar But since the New Gen consoles are close, who knows.
Dick Valor
lol if you think Agent is coming out current gen you are deluded. You're probably right, but there's tens of millions more PS3s in circulation than PS4s and this won't change for a couple years, so releasing Agent for PS3 in 2014 would probably earn R* more sales than releasing it as a PS4 exclusive. Of course, this is assuming Agent will be ready by next year, which is a long shot considering R* North has been working on V.
Andreas
lol if you think Agent is coming out current gen you are deluded. It's PlayStation 3 exclusive as stated by Rockstar That is fairly as reliable as the statement that Rockstar made in September 2009; they stated that Agent could release as early as 2010 and it's 2013 now but we haven't heard anything from the game since then. Well, Take-Two mentioned Agent a few times after it, for example in 2010 when they stated that Agent is still in development and still a PS3-exclusive title. It's 2013, we don't have a lot of information about Agent and it's almost the end of the console cycle. I think there are two possibilities of what happened with Agent; either it's cancelled or the game is a PS4-exclusive title. I would say the latter one is more likely and I wouldn't be surprised if the game is the first next-gen title of Rockstar Games. epicluca
Yes Agent is confirmed for current gen, but there's been no info on it for ages, no proper info anyway. With the PS4 right around the corner I don't get why they'd release it for PS3 when PS4 comes out, also at the PS4 event they said that R* were making games for the console. STHeavenHTHell
Hey hey ppl. This is a thread 'bout GTA V not Agent. Please dont desvirtuate. About the thread, i forgot to mention little things like the Phelps flashlight and the way Max carry his weapon. Maybe to we carry a machine gun or two pistols we will need an bandolier or holsters? Maybe we can carry a light at a inventary system? Lil things like this make GTA V more cool.
SeaFoam
Rockstar did hire on next gen developers so they could be working on anything really. Am I too hopeful in thinking that we may see a Manhunt 3? I'm right there with you on wanting to see a Manhunt 3. I remember when the first one came out, went out and bought it not knowing what in the hell the game was about. The marketing they did for it, the fake 'snuff' website was just bizarre. OT: In my opinion it's the same deal as with San Andreas. They had the engine established with GTA III, so by the end of the generation of consoles, they could add and improve so much more to San Andreas. Each game they do is essentially a test in regards to figuring out what works and what doesn't, and what can be applied to future games. The same I presume is happening with GTA V. killahmatic
Every game is kinda of a test. This. Also, obviously as technology changes, previous things become useless. So it wouldn't make sense for R* to specifically use these games to test engines and other things. Its to make the current game as best as it can be and often to add to the next game. but V is in no way specifically being used as a test for a game that is 10 years down the road. Dick Justice
Agent is actually very similar to LA Noire. LA Noire was announced in 2006 and then nobody heard about it for four years.
