GKP
Its the same with any game. As soon as you get it you cane the sh** out of it for a few weeks and complete it or near complete it. GTA is too addicitive just to do a mission or 2 ...I would tend to do 5 or 6 at a time in a sitting. That said, It's safe to say that come Oct 17th 2013, I will have completed GTAV. Doesn't mean its going to collect dust from then either. Multiplayer lasted me for years and I still race regularly in LC. Still though, its noteworthy that all the years of anticipation / hype and excitement build to a crescendo , only to peter out quite quickly. Its time for a graph. Notice how hype levels rise before the game...reach a peak with a few minutes / hours of play then fall quickly. This isnt how much your enjoying the game, but the 'newness factor'...the spikes are discovering either new islands / game functions. After completing the game, MP play raises things a little, more subtly though as you have seen everything by then. Its a slow decline to disuse then. Eventually you stop playing altogether and 'rediscover' what you liked about the game after months of ot playing. Still not as good as the first play through. This is a protracted way of saying...its all about those first few hours. You wont get that high again for a LOOOOONG time. CaptainCapri
Good creative mind, but, lets be honest... that graph is a complete load of bull***t isn't it? But aslong as you enjoyed making it that's all that really matters I guess!?! I usually do work to kill time at work... I don't know why I do work at work, seems kind off logical i guess. AuSsIeThUnDeR36
Not necessarily, if GTA V delivers the same nostalgic feelings that were imposed with San Andreas, Il be pumped everytime I play it. Its never going to get boring. Years from now, people are still going to be finding new things hidden in there that haven't been found.

milkmansun
Hype or no hype i just want the game soon.. at least some info worth to think abt the game... I never completed any game up to 100%.. I think for GTA V i will go for that.. so it may take more than a month.. i guess.. The graph made me laugh.. sorry

GKP
There you are, only reiterates that your 'hype' or the crazy excitement level you get with a new GTA is a transient thing.
CaptainCapri
Capri - care to expound on your 'bullsh*t' point ? Aussie - your hype wont be the same years later as it is in hour 1 though ... Well for starters everybody is DIFFERENT.... I for instance play my games on and off, one day I will feel like playing GTA the next I will feel the urge to play something else so your 'hype' levels change constantly. I am not particularly hyped up about the game at this moment in time however go back to last September I was seriously hyped! You have also forgotten to factor in the posibilites of DLC which of course always gets gamers hyped up....
GKP
Naturally Capri - it is subjective. Though surely you wont be playing much else on September 17th. Its more of an average across all gamers...as I see it anyway.
AtomicPunk
I think this study is flawed, at best. A person can achieve that same feeling after weeks of gameplay when entering into a new area, or seeing a new thing happen, etc.,--the possibilities are many, and I think V will stay fresh for a few months, atleast. As long as it isn't as bland as IV, we can play in that world happily for a few years---again, as long as it's like the older GTA's and NOT like IV, we should want to keep going back into that world. I can't imagine how many hours I will waste by just messing around with the 18-wheelers.
GKP
Thats what the 'spikes' on the graph are . New areas , but ultimately , it is no where as cool or as interesting to play as the first few hours. You cant re capture the 'high' of the first hour or so with a game. Who cares about the hype this much anyway... hype doesnt necessarily have any correlation to the enjoyment and fun factor, so really the graph is quite pointless. I still really enjoy playing San Andreas and occassionally GTA IV however I am not hyped up over them, I just enjoy playing them. I really don't see what the purpose in the graph is?! caio3771
It's pretty frustrating to get a game with a generic storyline that can be finished within two weeks... Hope it's not the same with GTA V.

GKP
Well hype / newness / novelty factor..and yeah my enjoyment is never as good as the first few hours. It VERY quickly becomes familiar and ordinary. Im not saying people do not enjoy games after a long period of time, its the degree that they enjoy it that changes. Put it this way, there is more point to this thread than 'will there be realistic sh*t in V'..thats another thread at the moment and the mentality of some of the forumers here. GKP
How about you make a point ?...do you think the graphs wrong ? Are you excited with the game 3 weeks later as are on day 1 ? The point is that years and years of buildup for a day of pleasure that quickly loses its novelty factor. Thats the fkin point.

Backfire6
Multiplayer is a load of bullsh*t. And it has NOTHING to do with game play value what so ever. And seeing as how the map is tiny I can't imagine there being too many missions, so ya most people will end up beating it within a month because they don't give a flying f*ck about enjoying it. Those people are not gamers. The real gamers that enjoy these will take their time, explore it play it and that's that. And since your playing 3 people....lol ya I can see loads of missions for each character. So it won't be as short as you think. So no...I can't see how anyone can beat it that fast, but a lot of people out there do that though, they get a game and do playthrough's/streams none stop and end up beating it. Anyways ya I think you wasted your time with a graph which shows nothing at all. So I guess what I said at first means nothing
exmpletree
i will keep playing V for years. I wont play any other game than V until januari 2014. I still play GTA SA every now and then. imagine how long GTA V will last
GKP
It shows nothing at all...right.... It looks like most posters here are children. What else did I expect. Joe Reddit
I think GKP's graph is about the 'general' hype of a 'general' game. Well open-world action games are quite different, where you don't necessarily need to do the missions - you can jump straight in free roam. And with a game the size of V, well, it's gonna take you quite some time to discover all the lil' things and easter eggs by yourself. Of course, it's different for each and every type of person. One might love the new additions of the game [3 protags, desert, forest], others may love the concrete jungle more. Real life can also change stuff. You may not be able to play the game for lets say the first 2 months, so your hype could go even higher. And this is my opinion : the hype is always the highest at the release of a game. EDIT : What I was trying to say : You can't make a graph abut the hype of ONE game. The same as you would not be able to make one of the death counts of 2014. In 2013. Only generally. And this graph is a general game-hype graph. In my opinion, even if GKP specified it's a GTA related one. GKP
for at least understanding what I am trying to say. To be honest , it is for GTA specifically, at least how it was for me and previous GTA games.
