tomi19
I have a Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 and I have extremely low performance. I mean I can't even watch a YouTube video on it without stuttering/lag. I don't think this is normal, it should be capable of watching a video/surfing the internet. What should I do? These are the specs: Intel Atom N450 1.66GHZ 1GB RAM Intel GMA 3150 Windows 7 32bits. Oh I formatted it a week ago or so, so that's not the problem.
Prometheus
I have the same problem as well, the netbook's an MSI U135DX. I'm not sure if it's CPU related, but it only happens on Windows though, I never faced this kind of issue on Ubuntu.
Stinky12
Same thing here, it's Intel Atom being too weak in the first place. Luckily my netbook has Nvidia ION, so I can enable GPU acceleration and then I was able to watch Youtube. But I do remember when it was running XP, with just 1GB of ram and a 160GB HDD, Youtube worked fine without GPU acceleration. Maybe it's got to do with the OS or something else? Try another browser and see if that helps. My specs as upgraded here and there Intel Atom N270 1.60GHz 3GB DDR3 Nvidia ION 120GB SSD Windows 8 Pro w/MCE 32bits Edited April 17, 2013 by Stinky12
Mista J
It's his specs IMO, I have a laptop with 2GB of RAM and a dual core AMD clocked at 2GHz and I lag on 7.
Stinky12
Majority of Intel Atom aren't dual cores, but single core with HT, giving 2 threads under windows. In other words, it's not a true dual core. They are dual core Atoms also with HT, giving a impression it's a quad.

How does having HT improve performance (If it does) ?
Stinky12
HT does improve performance but similar to a dual core, quad, or multi-core CPUs, it will only benefit if the programs can take advantage of it. HT was introduced back in the days of Pentium 4 and when ripping a entire CD with Windows Media Player, P4 with HT enabled took half the time than with HT disabled. These days, it still benefits, it's mostly for encoding, rendering, photo imaging and other similar applications. For games, mostly not, but also depends on the game and your CPU. If a game runs great on a quad core, then the HT on a Core i7 is useless because the i7 is already a quad core. But if you got a Core i3, then HT may help because the a i3 is a dual core and the HT make it a 'quad'.
