Travís.
Now let me start of by saying I never really gave IV a chance so I started playing properly. Now as I drive a car in IV I think the same thing as a lot of people. 'Why the f*ck am I driving a boat' I personally don't want this to be the case in V. One way I think they could make driving in V great is to setup one of there workers to just watch hours upon hours of cars driving. Not just a random car, the car they are basing there own of. When I drive in real life I don't think i'm driving a boat. please R* don't do it to us again!
webbo254
Im sure R* have already said they know about the boat like driving in GTAIV and will be improving it for V "Car handling in Liberty City wasn't perfect, and even Rockstar supremo Dan Houser admits that vehicles could feel a little 'boat-like,'" notes Xbox 360 Magazine. "GTA V, however, will feel a lot closer to a racing game -- with your speeding Infernus hugging onto the corners."
CaptainCapri
All cars need to be different... The older cars in GTA IV such as the Emperor, Peyote etc... handled realistically, older cars do handle like boats! The dukes handled like a proper RWD muscle car, crap handling, wheelspin for fun and it felt heavy! I agree some cars were slightly unrealistic however the driving overall was fine, I find the only people that moan about the handling are the people who could not keep a car under control in the game, compared to SA the handling was amazing. I have no issues with the current handling of cars, I dont want them to go back to handling that makes you feel like the car is on rails... ALeSsAnDrO
I noticed some of us really like the more detailed approach of GTA IV to car physics, other not so much. However, if they want to implement more racing missions, the boat-like handling has to go. I agree that it feels better than in previous, PS2-era GTA's... the cars feel like they have some real weight. Still, if I stumble through some trash cans or more elevated sidewalks and there's a chance of my car flipping over, I can't call that realistic. IMO, they should just take the handling from GTA IV down a notch, just a bit.
stiggy83
They could get some help from the team who worked on Midnight club LA, it was a really descent game, for sure not the best physics but it was a good balance between realism and arcade, as a hardcore Gran Turismo player, I did enjoy MC LA, and I would be thrilled to have quite the same physics in V. aaronimpact
Now as I drive a car in IV I think the same thing as a lot of people. 'Why the f*ck am I driving a boat' I've never said this when playing GTA IV. The thing about IV, all vehicles handled differently compare to the PS2 era all vehicles handled the same. Pegerino
GTA IV driving was alright but it could have been more faster and less drifts
Jewstinian
Too much drifting, and the way the car tugged over to one side made it kind of annoying. If it stayed flatter on the ground, and the drifts would only come at higher speeds, then I'd say the driving is pretty tuned.
RichyB
I've said it before and I'll say it again, don't blame your bad driving on 'boat-like' physics. Driving in IV was fine, most of the fa**ots on here want GTA V to be like San Andreas driving which was absolutely awful.

Capricornus
GTA IV's driving physics were superb and I loved it. Speak for yourself OP. I never thought I was driving a boat. Some of you lot just are sh*t at driving.
GrandMaster Smith
San Andreas actually has surprisingly good physics for being last gen. I've been playing SAMP and am really surprised at how well they hold up for being such a dated game. I've realized the graphics are just the icing of the cake, what really matters for R* games is the power going on under the hood, the strong engines that allow for so much to go on. IV's handling was actually really good, Ilove it's feeling, it just has a learning curve to it. Tighten up the suspension tweak the torque for more powerful cars and I think V's driving mechanics will match or top that of the top racing games out there right now. Some of you lot just are sh*t at driving. I think most people that complain about the physics are the types of people who like to hold the accelerator down EVERYWHERE they go! Expecting they will turn corners perfectly, dodging every single obstacle and getting from A-B without spinning, hitting something or destroying the car! They're is an amazing thing called a 'brake' which you can use and if you're feeling slightly adventerous you could even use the 'handbrake'! Francis44
I liked the driving in IV, very realistic. You do know that when you turn a car at 60 + miles per hour it wont exactly turn where you want it to turn without some sliding? Plus most front wheel cars without proper braking wont even turn just to give an example.
Diesleman
Op, I respected you until this thread. Nub your alright mate, but I disagree with you on the driving. And no offence but if you're just giving four a proper go for the first time your opinion is quite frankly invalid...

Drifting was really hard to do because you can't speed up while doing the turn(why manual transmissions are used for drifting irl). Drive in Mafia 2 and then drive in GTA IV and you'll see how bad it is. Mafia 2 doesn't have a perfect driving system but the 40s and 50s didn't have the best cars either and they must of had a hugely reduced budget that gta too. rare.steak
It's amusing how some members think IV is the flagship of driving simulation in video games. It doesn't compare to the likes of GT or even Forza, let alone actual flagship simulations in iRacing and rFactor. Makes you wonder how many people pose as drivers IRL when they probably can't even get their automatic transmission licenses, and it's a norm of past generations to get their manual licenses. Nobody said it was the most perfect driving in any game you genius . Most of us are comparing to other sandbox games but of course you had to make another negative comment at the expense of GTA because that's all you know to do isn't it ? There's no advantage for you to try and seek, really. So take it from me and save yourself any more effort.

Shane_Dbns
The driving is bad? No you just suck. I mastered the driving in iv, I could drive fast from hove beach to the suburbs in alderney under 2mins without crashing with the f620. Iv still has some of the best car physics for an open world game today. I only want more acceleration for certain cars + super cars should be able to drift easier

Gilly1987
I also like the driving on this game. I will be so annoyed if its anything like Saints row or Sleeping Dogs. Need for speed has worse handling than IV.
Racecarlock
Just because it has the best handling out of all sandbox games doesn't mean it's perfect. Yes, I got used to the driving, but I still think it feels like driving on a wet road when you're driving on a dry one. So make the dry road level of traction in IV the wet road traction in V, then increase the dry road traction in V to about 50% above what it was in IV and call it a day. epicluca
Dude, GTA is about the freedom of doing what you want. I don't think anyones ever said it has boatlike driving (Apart from R*) people like easy driving because it's easier to do what they want. Personally I'm annoyed about the changing to the driving system, I don't want it to be like a driving game, I want the driving to stay the same but less drifty and more applying to the laws of physicsy
