heist_blueprint
Hopefully this will be fixed. Something small but annoying. I was literally just playing IV and I never thought about posting this until now. When you bump into a pedestrian holding something, such as an umbrella, newspaper, or a cup, the pedestrian drops their item. I don't know if its because of the engine, but hopefully they can fix that.

BlackNoise
The only problem was once they dropped it, they acted like it wasn't theirs anymore. Unless they're running away terrified, they should pick their sh*t back up.

SlappyPwnsAss
I want Peds to drop items when i bump into them but i want them to pick the item back up. Most of them just leave it there even if its like raining and their umbrella is on the ground. I also want to be able to pick the items they drop and if some tough guy sees me pick them up, he tries to take it back from me. (The tough guy is the owner of the item)

blakeney
I'm assuming OPs either a troll or a retard because when you bump into someone in real life, it's not inconceivable that they might drop what they're holding. lol its 2013 and people still wildly throw the troll accusation around .. You have either never noticed or just being picky... but you cannot deny that the way the peds drop their items is stupid. Sure barging into them will make them drop their items, and them picking it up while it would be nice, is a whole different convo... but in all the other gta's (from III, they didn't have items before that, im pretty sure peds had bags in III though), even if you so much as brush past them(in real life maybe the cuff of your jacket minutely touched their arm, so minute they probably never even knew), or toot your horn/wheels make the tiniest of squeaks, they will drop their sh*t, and 9/10times switch direction 180' (for some reason?)... you can't honestly think that's realistic, or even "ok", its my main and pretty much only issue with gta since IV! GoldenBlade
Peds drop the items too easily in IV. One slight touch, and plop!, it's on the ground. It'd be cool if they actually tried to pick it up, or atleast try to do something.

Immediately thought of this. OT: People reacted to Niko way too easily in general. It gets a tad annoying when you are doing a mission with someone and you barley brush into them and they just fall over, slowing you down. If I wanted you to fall over, I would push you down on my own accord. Hopefully this is tweaked in V.

Unless they're running away terrified, they should pick their sh*t back up. Why would the engine even bother to make the AI pick it up again? Even though that's a ridiculous question to ask, I think I see you're point. The thing is, you don't understand anything about R* as a developer. They care about sprinklers that don't actually water real grass, and engine sounds that aren't actually being produced by engines, or any fake detail to make their fake world more believable. Or lets just talk about peds carrying groceries that aren't actual groceries. Why should the "engine even bother" with any of that sh*t? If you only want to look at this from a "this is fake so nothing matters" perspective, fine. Just don't act like I'm making a weird point, and please never become a developer. Anyways, they should pick it up because they dropped it.

Yes but they didn't pick their items up if you just bumped into them while walking. If you drop a $200 dollar cell phone are you just gonna leave it on the ground? Additionally rockstar could take it a step further and have the peds say things like "ah damn you cracked the screen on my phone!"
GTAKid667
I agree that items are dropped way too easily by peds in this game. I too, hope they improve this. Mokrie Dela
This bugged me too. Most of the time IRL this wouldn't happen. I've NEVER dropped my umbrella cos I bumped into someone. It bugged me how this happened in IV - the fact niko can't walk last people is annoying - assassins creed picked up on this and you could slickly move through crowds without this happening - or just punch/ push IMO when you walk into someone, you should slip past gracefully, bu if you hold run or push them then they drop stuff. It's not that small a thing though when you consider that cars have done lights and door open chimes, the fact they overlooked this is surprising That said I spent ten mins once knocking a camera out of someone hand, for them to pick up another from their pockets - over and over Some control (like AC 1/2) over this would be nicr The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.
