greenrock Posted April 15, 2013 Share Posted April 15, 2013 (edited) in the buildup to the gta 5, we were all discussing, arguign, fighting about who the protagonist was going to be when we first saw the first gta 5 trailer, and we saw Michael for the first time http://www.igta5.com/images/gta-5-trailer-...-los-santos.jpg no one really thought Michael was going to be a protagonist, there was some people that did, but most thought it was going to be franklin.... and then the whole ned luke twitter thing happened, and then more people started to say it was Michael (this happened a few days after the trailer release) then some people started to say the ned luke/balcony guy.... but still the majority thought it was going to be franklin, and Michael more as a mission giver then the whole multiple protagonist thing started to be argued... then remember the screenshot with michael in a jet, then people were confirming it was Michael, then there was screenshots of Franklin so we were pretty much arguing between them two and i think alot of us were suprised with trevor, when the artwork for him was released, most thought he was going to be a secondary character (like he was originally suppose to be until he was recast in the role of one of the 3 protagonists) and then come gameinformer, 3 Protagonists confirmed... On the contrary most people DID thought he is, I was the one of those who thought he's antagonist or the boss who gives missions. I wonder what we would think when the game already came out and we would re read all the speculations. I agree that it is insightful and fun to revisit our speculations in light of new confirmed info. At the time, I also thought that the "Ned Luke guy" in GTAV Trailer #1 was a mission giver / boss and that the narration / voiceover was him talking to the (as yet unknown) protag in a cutscene. Now it seems that the Trailer #1 narration may just be Michael talking to his therapist in a cutscene. That gives it a little different spin. Something just told me that we were not gonna be getting just the Balcony Guy. The constant car chases scenes with guy in the red car added further to my logic. jamieleng Posted April 15, 2013 Share Posted April 15, 2013 I was hoping it was going to be Balcony/Blue Car guy, mainly because Rockstar's older protagonists have been the most interesting this generation. John Marston & Dan Houser's interpretation of Max Payne were great and really got me invested in them, much more so than Niko & Luis. Multiple protagonists that we switch between, is just a natural progression of the 'trinity' diamond storyline of EFLC. Cut the crap or don't post. The news may be old, but it is actually interesting to think about how things changed from first seeing trailer one, to now. There were people who were certain it was Ned Luke or red car guy, we didn't even know Trevor existed, yet it turned out to be him in that screenshot with the helicopter and the gun with laser sights. I wouldn't say we were necessarily fooled, because the answer wasn't completely clear. If you watched both trailers again without knowing anything about the game (i.e. info from GameInformer) I still think it isn't exactly clear, since they are predominantly about Michael since he narrates. I'd like to see more trailers from Franklin's and Trevor's point of view; it's confirmed we can play as we choose throughout free roam and swap equally between them in missions, but in the trailers we'd still forced to believe that Michael is the main character out of all of them. I remember when they released those screenshots in like august and I was tripping out on Trevor. I was wondering who he was and amazed by how Rockstar was throwing us off by sort of concealing the faces of the them driving and what not. So pumped for this game! In fact, somebody on these forums, claiming to be an ex Rockstar Games employee, said that the protagonists were named "Michael", "Trevor", and "Alberto".
