chop chop Posted April 15, 2013 Share Posted April 15, 2013 I'm not going at MP3, because that was a linear game. I'm going at RDR because it's the last official open world game R* released. I'm worried about GTA V with 2 key issues, but I'm more then happy to give R* the extra time it needs to polish. First issue was all the freaking glitches in RDR I'm talking about flying bird people, flying carriages, mountain lion people. The glitches to me were more then GTA IV, I'm sure some people will flame me, I only ran across a couple glitches in GTA IV and it had to with pedestrians walking around in circles, other then that RDR had way more glitches. So I hope GTA V has less glitches, I don't care how many patch updates we need to download i just want the game to run smooth. The other problem im worried about is R* saying "Building everything from the ground up". I actually like everything in GTA IV except for the combat which needed a drastic overhaul. Do you guys think the whole building everything from the ground up , will be a win win situation? Or building from the ground up like GTA IV will hurt the game? DeafMetal Posted April 15, 2013 Share Posted April 15, 2013 I bought Red Dead Redemption on day 1 and played it like crazy for 3-4 months. I don't remember any glitches that hampered my gameplay. There were a number of laugh inducing bugs but nothing that broke the game for me. The more bug free and polished V is the better but for a game on the scale of V it will undoubtedly have a number of bugs. I trust R* not to release a broken game though. I usually hate glitches, but RDR had some awesome ones. The updates fixed all that sh*t anyways, so I don't mind having a few days/weeks of strange as long as R* cleans it up later. I'd love glitches that don't crash gameplay and are fun to play around with. Imagine a shark-man walking around downtown LS? Sounds great right? Jets that are functioning like submarines? Seeing a dog-man tearing ass on a quad out in the country? If there were tons of things like that, that didn't crash the game I honestly wouldn't want to get any updates or patches that would take them away. Committing crimes after that, my crime stats (counts of law officer murder, etc.) remain, even after using a pardon. Visually, I get lots of bugs like people on horses or carriages stuck in the ground, and geometry bugs, like when your horse randomly dies after running over a mound of dirt. Nothing "game breaking" though. I love stat tracking so hopefully R* has taken these extra four months to make sure the stats aren't glitched. Goofy visual glitches don't really bother me. It sorta gives me ideas for things to do, and whats possible within the game. I remember being intrigued at there being a 'Tresspassing' stat in RDR and trying to figure out what triggered it. In fact, it had some of the most hilarious glitches of any game (horse playing poker was my fave). Also, you're only aware of these glitches because they've been posted on YouTube, there is no way you experienced all the ones you listed. I only encountered one annoying glitch in over 150 hours of play & that was my character occasionally getting stuck in (clipping through) my horse when I hitch it. Compare that to Assassin's Creed 3, a game that isn't really open world in the true sense but seems to take a lot from RDR. Not only does it contain numerous graphical glitches, but some that actually mess up missions etc. I only played it through once & witnessed many graphical & a few really annoying gameplay ones. If GTA V is as buggy & glitchy as RDR, then I'll be very happy. While this has the potential to contain the most problems of any game R* has created (due to all the new features & largest map ever), I genuinely believe the delay was them making sure that the single player game will never require a patch to play it properly. Red Dead Redemption is one of the greatest games ever made, and there are NO glitches or bugs that I can even remember. I'm not saying that there weren't any, but nothing that's worth remembering. The only gamebreaking glitch that actually got me mad was when you used to get stuck in the ground, but it only happened a couple of times. Bugs that are annoying are like game crashing for no reason, stuck under the map which is rare however, and so on. And don't expect some minor bugs in the game if not major.
