ShadowDog94
GTA 4 was too toned down. I miss the exploding heads and bloody footprints. There needs to be more gore in this. I'm talking Mortal Kombat 9 tier gore. I want to be able to grab a chainsaw and slice a man's limbs off, and bash someone's brains in with a baseball bat. This is what GTA is supposed to be about. splintercell4eva
i'd be okay with the return of some of the more brutal gore as long as they keep it fairly realistic. I definitely think they were a little too easy on the blood splatter in IV. But i'm not really a blood splatter analyst either, I suppose I could just be watching too much CSI. Maybe if they added a feature where you get blood on your clothes if you shoot someone up close. I think max payne had something like that, That would be really cool. Make it so you have to change clothes or wash your hands to get it off (sleeping dogs)

OT: If it was RDR's level of gore I'd be happy, blowing a gaping hole in someone's head in that is forever satisfying.

Plus I love how the blood splatter works, and how it goes on any surface and stays there. Sometimes it stays there longer than the dead NPCs do before despawning. It gives a real sense that something chaotic and violent went down when you look around the room after a gunfight, with all the dead bodies lying around and blood painted all over the walls and floor. I'm not really expecting dismemberment, though.

But the thing with that is whenever you'd shoot someone in the head you get that f*cked up tumor looking thing. I saw what they were trying to do and it looks kind of cool from afar but when you get close it just looked kind of laughable. I just hope that if they go a similar route that they either make the exit wound of the bullet more realistic or just get rid of it all together. Grand Theft Savage
No one needs gore to that degree. Chill the f*ck out.
Evil.Tim
To be honest, I was quite happy with Max Payne 3's system. It didn't exactly make heads explode, but I think it was a good mic of realistic and satisfying. But considering some of the crazier weapons we will probably be given in GTAV, I guess there's still place for dismemberment and exploding heads. rare.steak
Don't see the big fuss of it in the modern era of gaming. Look at L4D. Kids and girls play it and they have no problem with all that blood and dismemberments.

Kids and girls play it and they have no problem with all that blood and dismemberments. It's because the Grand Theft Auto games are set in a city, oozing with life and gives you a sense of believability, so people get all worked up because it's convincing violence, L4D is an unrealistic zombie scenario so people don't seem to care so much. It's all stupid in the end, the game's are rated mature for a reason. -__-

MyDog
What I want is realistic response to wounds. In GTA IV, when you shot someone in the leg they'd still stand up and run. I don't really want over-the-top gore because this is neither Mortal Kombat nor Saints Row.

Redneck Shotgun
The blood splatter that hit the wall behind the person you shot in the head was great. Hope it returns.

Heads don't explode, they just crack in pieces. I do remember the spilling blood. If You wanna see exploding head watch movie 'Scanners'.

Then again, speaking of M-rated games, there are plenty others that have more and stronger suggestive themes and content than GTA, imo.

There are still bloody footprints. They're just more feint and the blood spatter is far more gruesome than the other games. Shoot someone through a car window. Not only is there a bullet hole, but blood all over the windscreen. Maybe it lacks bullet wounds like RDR and MP3 and you can't cut/blow off someone's head, but overall it's still more realistic. The blood looks like real blood rather than that rich, bright red blood in the others, Not a tone down at all. GTA IV is as violent (maybe more) as alot of its counterparts. golf wang
I agree. The blood in Max Payne 3 was a step in the right direction, but I think GTA V should have some dismemberment as well. If I shoot someone with a shotgun close range, I wanna see their body tear apart. Sounds gruesome but it would make killing so much more intense. DODI3OG
I don't like OTT gore, I'm fine with GTA 4's. AFAIK, there was a bug preventing the bloodied footprints in IV from appearing after stepping on a blood pool.

eclaireN7
I don't mind gore, but i don't think Gears of War level of gore is needed. A bit more blood would be fine with me, with maybe the occasional single arm or leg being blown off, but nothing too much.
the nameless
A point blank shotgun shot to the head should take off at least part of the head, 50 cal sniper should take off limbs, and if the kitana returns it should take off limbs also. That said, if none of these things happen, it wouldn't ruin the game for me - if the game plays well, I probably won't even think about it. ilmurtino
Yes, V definitely needs more gore than we got in IV. The violence in Max Payne 3 comes to mind, especially when you go berserk with dual .357 Magnums. Dismemberment is also a must, a body simply cannot stay intact when you attack it with .50 cal of goodness. The Katana should also return, along with the meat cleaver and maybe addition of spiked baseball bat and jaws of life. But apart from gunplay I also would like some more attention payed to fighting. Sleeping Dogs was quite good at this. It would be very nice if we were able to use nice moves along with damage such as flying teeth, broken bones, crushed skulls etc. That would be perfect for the times when you get hit by a sunday driver and just want to get out, throw him out of his car and really beat him to death with pure savagery. tator1
I believe as the technology advances like it has with the updated engine, maybe limbs blowing off, heads being shot off etc.... It adds a more realistic effect to the game.
caio3771
I don't think it needs more gore {or anything else you have in mind) if it doesn't enhance the gameplay or at least a significant change. Adding something just for adding is pointless, huge waste of time and work. Why not suggesting something that hasn't been added yet, that would also change this franchise for good? GTA is a series about crime, not cannibalism.
TellEmRye
I love the physics in GTA IV, when you shoot people they fall down or go flying backwards from the power of the bullets, but I would like this to be touched up in V so when you shoot people in the legs, they don't get back up so easily and lay down screaming until you finish them. I'm not too fussed on the gore, their was a nice amount of blood in IV but their could always be a bit more, as long as they don't go over the top and make it look like a Saw movie. meson1
From GTA:IV, the best pistol execution cut scene was the very first one when Niko kills Vlad. Realistic or not, the spray of blood from the entry wound was very cinematic. None of the other pistol executions seemed quite as good after that. If they do something similar for GTA:V, they should add more variety by including cut scenes for weapons other than the pistol.
GTAfan786
It can definitely be improved from GTA IV, but who wants a 1980's horror film gore where blood floods the whole room when you get stabbed?
