Secura
*I agree with your points. *No troll that posts idiotic and useless threads will read it since...well as you've stated:"It has too much text in it." *I also think this should be pinned. Thank you for your attention. P.S.: WTF is with the interview and the uncorns???????????????? Meh, it's just a few things that needed to be pointed out, too often do staff have to deal with people being idiots so I thought a bit of a clearer layout would help newer members and guests better understand how stuff should work around here. streetx1xracer
I think this thread should be referenced when the troll topics pop up. Actually, I'd say they're not even all trolls, I reckon about 1/4 or even 1/2 are legitimately ignorant and misinformed people. I seriously hope you are trolling. You have made duplicate accounts, and on top of that, have gotten banned for it. If you are not defined of what a troll is, then I don't know, let me just uninstall life and re-install to find out. You even contradict yourself. You are a hypocrite. What is your problem, guy? You seem to stalk me around these forums with no intention other than to insult me and falseley accuse me of being other people, trolling, etc. 1) WHERE do I contradict myself? 2) Check my post history - it's publicly available. You'll see that not one of my posts are "troll posts". Do you even know what a troll is? If anyone is a troll, it's you who is stalking me just to tell me that I should kill myself. Seriously, you want me to "uninstall my life"? You are a disgusting, abhorrent person. LOL. This post just gave me cancer. Seriously man, take it easy. You are the same user as before. Your posts to the other account are nearly identical. You are even always quoting my posts. I know for a fact it is you. There is no way a random user would create an account, never knowing anything about the site and quote a post like mine. You are contradicting yourself man. And if anyone is a stalker, it is you dude. I don't even watch wrestling anymore. Lmao youre telling this guy to take it easy when youre the one who starts derailing his own topic because he doesnt agree with your ideas/opinions? Because from all the topics i just looked at, youre the one who should be getting reported and not him. Grow up and become mature because this is a forum. If you dont enjoy the fact that someone dislikes your posts, leave. No one is making you stay.

Narrow
This thread's really good, unfortunately it'd be unlikely that any of the newer members (like myself) would actually bother reading it. I know that sounds kind of harsh since it's obvious that you've put a fair amount of effort into making this thread, but it's the sad truth. The only way I can really see this thread working is if it were to be pinned, in which case I'm sure it'd get a lot of new hits and probably do a fair amount of good in the V section, as it stands though I just can't see many new members clicking on this and not being intimidated by that very long opening post. Not that there's anything wrong with that of course (long posts are often a wonderful sight here in the V section and only really made by respected members) but once again it could be rather overwhelming for someone who's joined to forums just to post in the Wishlist or what have you. Anyway long story short: I love the topic, it's really well made and were it to be pinned it could have a very positive impact on a large number of members here but since it's not it's highly unlikely that many members will read it. Andreas
3: Is it appropriate? Now far be it from me (the author of the "should children be killable" thread) to judge what is and isn't appropriate to be discussed on these forums, pretty much anything is fair game but for the few of you that can't quiet comprehend common sense we're not going to be discussing something like Watch_Dogs versus Grand Theft Auto V. All that thread will do is gather hate from a lot of fan boys and it won't end well. At the current stage of development neither game's been released so there's really no way to compare them other then what the developers and publishers choose to show us, and you should never trust marketing and marketing alone, make your own decision on a game when it's released, not from what you've seen in a three minute long trailer. I would like to mention that topics that include comparisons between two games, one of them being GTA V, will appear all the time. However, there is a way to keep these kinds of discussions in one topic. Miamivicecity has created The official "GTA V and its competitors" thread to keep it in this topic. The only way I can really see this thread working is if it were to be pinned [...] Not necessarily. People tend to overlook the pinned topics so it wouldn't really help to pin this topic. It's maybe worth a try but it would be probably better to bump it over and over again; but at some point, this topic would die down again. Narrow
The only way I can really see this thread working is if it were to be pinned [...] Not necessarily. People tend to overlook the pinned topics so it wouldn't really help to pin this topic. It's maybe worth a try but it would be probably better to bump it over and over again; but at some point, this topic would die down again. Therefore why not pin it? Yeah I know it's rare for a topic (especially one that's not made by a staff member) to be pinned but it'd have a much wider impact if that were to happen. Yeah a few people may ignore the topic but I think that it'd get ignored just as much if it were to remain an unpinned thread, if someone's not interested in reading about how they should present themselves around the forum then that's their choice, having the topic pinned wouldn't change that. What it would change however is how many people would get the chance to view it, it'd last a lot longer and have a much larger area of effect as a result of that, don't get me wrong it may still be ignored by the vast majority of people but if it'd help even three to five percent of the user base here it'd increase the quantity of quality posts in this forum. We all know that V section's not exactly renowned for having the best members but this topic could help change that, even if it's a small change it'd still most likely be noticeable. People are so desperate. Jesus Christ, you're a little bit aggressive aren't you? Shoumaker
I've not seen this one before really and I just wanted to give my 2 cents. No, what they'd look for if anything is a well thought out, decently sized, nicely punctuated and grammatically correct post. The thing is that R* barely notice the posts even the good V sectioners make and only thing's like For the <3 of $$$ topic has been noticed by R* when it comes to the things forum members here have made. And you can't blame them, it's not easy impressing R*! So saying something like that wont really help people get convinced that their posts need to be more constructive and well thought out. There are always going to be members like this and I don't think they can be avoided. The second thing to remember is that Rockstar do not own these forums, we're not even sure if they visit as the only official Rockstar account that's been registered here was Rockstar Toronto Good point, this is something that many members do not understand. There are many forum members who think Staff also work for R* like you said but they're normal GTA gamers like us, they will not get their hands on the game before September 17th. Staff like to mess around with us normal members sometimes and they all fall for it. Just look at the 'Find the Blue topic'. Also I believe R* do look at the forum sometimes even if they're only on as guests I'm sure they come here to see what the fans want. I believe R* listened to what the fans wanted right in this very forum. For example when GI said we weren't going to be able to purchase things like Safe houses, this disappointed a lot of us and many forum members expressed their feelings on this matter. I'm guessing R* took this into consideration back then. I mean come on guys, it's not a hard thing to miss is it? Look no-one's got any issue with you discussing what you want in the game but when there are five topics on the front page of the board discussing the same thing, it gets a little bit laughable. I know it's not hard to miss and I've tried to use this as well when I was a new member but many members simply don't know how to use the search function in all honesty. I think what should be done to your little tutorial is that you should add Dutchy3010's topic here. It taught me everything I needed know about this feature. Now for those of you who've come here simply for information and all you want to do is find out about the latest news, screenshots and what have you I recommend that you keep this topic bookmarked, it's updated every time Rockstar make even the tiniest little peep and anything big like a trailer or pictures will be shown and links will be provided to view them/watch them. Even though Indi is doing a fantastic job with the thread it was unpinned for a reason as staff felt it didn't really help people reduce the amount of spam they post. When people make an account here most of the people here are only here for V and for many people it's their first forum so it takes time for them to be established. We were all noobs once. Remember me when I was newer? Other then that I believe all the information in this thread is fantastic for the everyday V section member and I hope more good comes out with this topic. Keep up the great work Lightning!

RedDagger
There should also be some for discussing a topic as well. I see many people quote-nest one inflammatory comment to hell, turning that thread into a bashing of that person and their mother, whilst any serious and well-thought out comments on the subject are overlooked. If a thread is turned against the post topic (e.g. manual transmission) people ignore any comments which make sound statements for the topic, and bash the non-thought out ones. And I agree with S1LV3R_W0LF, those whom this is targeted to are the ones who won't read it, unfortunately. A mix of they don't care if they do read the whole thing, or it's too long and they can't be bothered.
TotesMagotes
Well done, really well thought out post. Unfortunately, the people who did read all of it probably aren't the people you're targeting. All of this will be lost in the numbskulls who troll this forum, or those who hit the new topic button every time they have a question or thought. So great job, might get your point across to a few people, but i'm afraid it's all for not.

SmoothGetaway
Fast forward to July 2014, Wall Street Journal interview with Dan Houser: WSJ: Thanks for granting us an interview, Mr. Houser. We know your time is precious. WSJ: Just to set the stage, we want to remind our readers of the background. In the past 8 months, the video game GTAV has grossed more revenue worldwide than all of James Cameron's movies put together. Everyone on earth (including the astronauts on the space station) from age 3 to 113 is playing GTAV. WSJ: Due to GTAV's unprecedented and phenomenal success, Rockstar Games (RSTR) has emerged independent from the former TTWO and is now a pure play sandbox gaming company with market value greater than Apple Computer and Exxon combined. This is not the same world we were living in, just 8 short months ago. WSJ: Mr Houser, this entire phenomenon is just unbelievable. What led to this incredible worldwide success of GTAV? Dan Houser: We were on track to put out GTAV, the next game in the series, with more of everything that the players want to see -- more crime, more guns, more cars, larger map, you know, all the usual stuff. We expected that GTAV would be big, really big. Dan Houser: But the thing that drove GTAV to become a worldwide addiction, something that no one could resist, something that hooked every demographic on the planet, was when we added the unicorns. Dan Houser: We got this message from a fan: "oH my god rockstar* are teh best gaem companie ever nd id really like to see u guyz add horeses and unicrons to gtav" and it just hit home with us, like a bolt from the blue, like an A-bomb from the mind of god, GTAV NEEDS UNICORNS!!!!! From that moment on, we knew we had no choice, we had to add the unicorns. The rest is history, as they say. This post should be moved into the OP somehow More on topic, excellent thread Lightning, lots of useful information. If I could make one suggestion, could you break it up a tiny bit more? Bullet points, bolded parts...you know what I mean. Might make the difference for more people reading it. Great work man.

Also, you´re a f*cking c*nt on my book, but not for it I despise you. A nice job is a nice job. I'm glad you feel that way. Why don't you f*ck off, we all know that the only part of GTA V you're waiting for is the part where Trevor gets his dick out.
