iNero
I played San Andreas again in the last weeks and did fly over Los Sanots to see how big it really was. Also watched some screens from the Rage Engine Version of San Andreas. U can also compare it pretty well in this trailer remake at 1:10 : GTA5 Los Santos doesnt look that much bigger. Ofcourse it will be bigger but not as much as most guys think... by far. Then i looked up the screens of GTA5 we have like the one from observetary. And again, imo GTA5s Los Santos will not be much bigger than the original one. Which doesnt has to be a bad thing. But R* said that the Map is as big as RDR, GTA4 and SA together and a bit more. Now even if Los Santos is alot bigger than in SA, we have half SA Map + RDR + Liberty City which is filled with countryside and alamo sea and on the pics we saw that there isnt that much stuff on there ( obviously as its desert and stuff) So I dont see the point of making such a huge map ( if thats the truth) with only one big city. I mean its fun to drive across countryside but even hardcore fans will lose the motivation when driving through empty land for 2 weeks. San Andreas was ramped up with missions in the Cities and in desert/countryside. It had over 100 missions. So, its stated that GTA5 will have about the same length as RDR which was about 50 missions. So I wonder how they want to fill all that empty space on the map with only 50 missions. Especially as its about big heists which are obviously placed in Los Santos ( as we saw on the GI Screens ). I just cant imagine that this can work that well. Such a huge Map and less then half the amount of missions SA had. ( and SA had pretty much variety in the missions, GTA4 was pretty repetitive for the most parts ( caused by the Liberty City Setting i think)

He didnt mean its only going to be yoga outside of the main missions -_- he just used it as an example of the many things that will be available outside of the main missions. Also the large map will work great for just free roaming and going on cruises online.

Mário César Baldessar Moro
But why think that GTA V will have only 50 missions? I guess they will make a city in scale much more real this time. Look at L.A. Noire map and think about the new standard of map for the upcoming games. If the central area of LS is the same of LA. Noire, this will take almost 1/3 of the area that R says GTA V will have. There will be uninhabited areas like deserts and mountains, but not as much as it may seem. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GB1nqnrvnvM/TdwG...marks+Guide.JPG http://files.cadeogame.com.br/hotsites/gta...as/pixacoes.jpg Edited April 15, 2013 by Girish

A map which is as big as SA, LC and RDR together but only 50 missions camt fit imo. SA had pretty much variety in it missions... unlike GTA4. The guy who mentioned that he wants 50 unique instead of 100 which are similar is right. But like I said. SA had alot of variety. GTA4 did not. Official General
So I dont see the point of making such a huge map ( if thats the truth) with only one big city. This I agree with Maybe Rockstar can pull off whatever they are doing real good, but they gotta do a great deal to convince me of that.
CrouchingSnake
The map is gonna be massive, the biggest in any GTA game, but not overly, in terms of spread. A while back, I was reading a interview, I think it was Dan Houser, he was talking about the map size, including the "internal and external areas", so what this basically means, they are also adding the areas of the insides of buildings to the count, this can also include multiple floors. GTAfan786
I don't get people like you. With IV, a lot of people complained that the city was just plain dull and countryside and deserts were needed, now people are saying we need a big city? You are gonna regret a stupid idea like that, besides the city is big enough, deal with it.
ak47andgunnin
Why would R* lie about the map being bigger than gta iv and rdr all together?

zakace
The missions aren't all going to just be 15 minute missions, you wont just drive to one place shoot a couple of people and be done. That is what some side missions may be like but the main missions will use the whole city. Whats wrong with having some parts of the map unused anyway? Exploring on your own and discovering is a part of the game and online cruises will be great with a large map. Cruising around a large city then heading off into the desert up to the mountains. wallis
If the city of LS is roughly the size of the GTAIV map (IF), that leaves a GTAV Countryside the size of RDR and SA combined, minus the amount of interiors, which we know nothing about and can't even really speculate on. I don't think the MAP (City + Countryside combined) will be small. I'm sure it'll be more than large enough.
Dick Valor
So I dont see the point of making such a huge map ( if thats the truth) with only one big city. This I agree with Maybe Rockstar can pull off whatever they are doing real good, but they gotta do a great deal to convince me of that. Where is your imagination? If you don't get the point of a large, diverse map, then why are you even into open world games? RDR didn't even have one major city and it was still fun as hell. V, on the other hand, will have a major city, small towns, wine country, farms, mountains, deserts, the Salton Sea, underwater environments, and probably islands as well. But yeah, if there's only one city, what's the point? Talk about seeing the glass as half empty!
ExtremoMania
Oh no, not another thread like this. Can someone please stop whining about map size? You can't judge the map of V unless you haven't played it yet.

Meezarawcks
RDR: Main Missions --> Side Missions Gta V: Main Missions --> Side Missions x3+? Side Missions take over? It'll be interesting. Dynamic missions, similar to Red Dead's "Random World Events" make a return. Examples include characters with broken down cars, a hitch hiker, or two parked cars with dead bodies around them - which you can investigate to initiate dynamic missions. This above is taken from the main site here at gtav.net. I can just picture how awesome these random events and side missions will be. Imagine being on a country road at night pulling up to a car with dead bodies just laying there. DAMN!
Dick Justice
Even if it's only the size as San Andreas, it'll have the same amount of detail and level design that IV had, which in turn makes it feel larger.
Honest Bill
The thing is OP, that you're basing your opinion on limited information that can't really be gleaned from the trailers. The city will be a lot bigger than it was in San Andreas, and the rest of it won't just be empty land. Both of these should be obvious to you if you really think about it, and therefore the entire premise of your point is fundamentally flawed.
