drdre_37
Hello everyone! I've recently been having issues with both GTA IV and ELFC instantly crashing to the desktop. The copy of GTA IV that I am running is a retail version, while the ELFC copy is through Steam. I should preface this by letting you know that both games have ran perfectly fine on my system before. I haven't installed any new hardware, or re-installed my OS since the last time I've played both games. All that I have done is update graphics drivers, and made different software changes, which would be to long to mention. Also, every other DX9, DX10, or DX11 game I play works perfectly fine. With that said, both GTA IV and GTA: ELFC now give me a similar "Grand Theft Auto IV/Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City has stopped working" error when I try to run them. The screen goes black like it would before the Rockstar logos, but instead, I see a loading pointer icon, that isn't spinning. The following is the info I get from the problem details tab through the error. GTA IV's Problem Details Problem signature:Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: GTAIV.exe Application Version: 1.0.0.0 Application Timestamp: 49189a0c Fault Module Name: nvwgf2um.dll Fault Module Version: 9.18.13.1422 Fault Module Timestamp: 51427a06 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 00100bba OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 4105 Additional Information 1: f3e1 Additional Information 2: f3e1c545334f99014357edb974de5504 Additional Information 3: 6942 Additional Information 4: 69425851e67598d8b7b73da0e6355fcf GTA: EFLC's Problem Details Problem signature:Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: EFLC.exe Application Version: 1.1.2.0 Application Timestamp: 4bda136c Fault Module Name: nvwgf2um.dll Fault Module Version: 9.18.13.1422 Fault Module Timestamp: 51427a06 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 00100bba OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 4105 Additional Information 1: b910 Additional Information 2: b910a1ea4e8c5d8d321a2936ca5377a7 Additional Information 3: 3a63 Additional Information 4: 3a63ffdf67a3e45d4dd54b47891c5fe3 As you can see, the common issue here seems to be the Fault Module Name: nvwgf2um.dll. Everything I've found through Google points to this being an Nvidia related issue, specifically in regards to a driver issue, more often that not. What really confuses me is how EFLC ran perfectly fine just the other day, and no all of sudden won't, while every other 3D game runs perfectly fine. For recent changes that I could only begin to assume might be the cause, I had installed an ENB plugin for ELFC, (Not GTA IV) which worked perfectly fine last Thursday. No crashes, and everything was working as expected. The only other change I remember making was through the Manage 3D Settings section via the NVIDIA Control Panel to EFLC. (Again, not GTA IV) Specifically, trying to change any anti-aliasing settings. I'm not 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure I was able to load up EFLC perfectly fine after that. Before adding in the ENB plugin to ELFC, I had made a complete backup of the Grand Theft Auto IV Episodes from Liberty City folder in Steam's "steamapps/common" folder, just in case something didn't work. Since I started getting the issue mentioned above, I had removed the existing EFLC folder from "steamapps/common", uninstalled EFLC through Steam, then placed in my original fresh copy of the EFLC folder into "steamapps/common", and installed it through Steam again. Just because this is getting quite long, here's a brief summary of everything I have tried: Added ENB plugin to EFLC (Steam version) Edited 3D settings for EFLC via Nvidia Control Panel Game ran fine until later when I started getting errors Removed edited/ENB series EFLC folder through "steamapps/common" folder Uninstalled EFLC through Steam Reinstalled EFLC through Steam by placing original backed upped EFLC folder in "steamapps/common" folder Completely uninstalled and removed any reference to my Nvidia drivers Installed latest available NVidia drivers I honestly can't think of what might be causing this issue now that I have done a complete fresh install of new Nvidia drivers as per the walkthrough at http://www.overclock.net/t/1150443/h...ia-gpu-drivers, which removes any reference to Nvidia from ones computer. There's no old settings or profiles from before, and my copy of EFLC is as Vanilla as it possibly could be. It's only affecting EFLC and GTA IV now, and not any other game, which is ridiculously strange. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!
