The Scottish Guy
So I was reading another thread when I came across this: I think it would be a large yacht with an explorable interior.... I second this. And private/corporate jets with enterable interiors. Which gave me an idea. What if in V, since planes and flying are implemented, we have the ability to use a private jet to get around the map just like the taxi system in IV? In IV, you could get in the taxi at any point, and choose to ride out the journey while admiring the city in all it's glory, or rush the driver, or simply skip to your destination. This could work simultaneously with aviation transport. Of course we had the airports and passenger jets for getting around in San Andreas, but I'm talking about small, luxury, private jets, for a more personal experience. This could be something Michael has the ability to do from the get go as he seems to be fairly well off, and something Frank and Trev can eventually achieve the luxury of as they acquire more cash. Of course we don't have runways on every street corner, but I believe there will be plenty places to make your pilot land. It could even add to the whole comedic humour of R*'s! It could be done really well too. Unlike the cab system, or the coach system in RDR, where you just sit in your ride looking around your environment, on a private jet you could get up, walk around (like you could in the trains in RDR), maybe get drunk at the mini bar during your journey, or take your personal stewardess to the lavatory for a 'Mile High Club' registration. Or you could simply kick back in your leather reclining chair and admire the glorious views of SA State. Hey, V is all about the money and good life, ain't it? Maybe this is a bit too much, but hell, I've seen some crazier ideas in here! If this belongs in the wishlist thread, then so be it. Just thought I'd make a topic first to see what you guys thought. GTAfan786
Yeah good idea. What about normal passenger planes? It would be good to see these features.
DS 17
This depends on the map size and how many airports will be ingame. Imo R* has to do lots of improvement in the public transport system. Like as aready mentioned the usual public passenger planes and so on.
v17
I would love this, I would also love a big rich boys yacht you can control.

Like as aready mentioned the usual public passenger planes and so on. It already has improved as you can see in trailer two. There is now a fully functional bus system and train system along with the usual things from before.
SlappyPwnsAss
Wow, great idea. Especially since R* say the map is really big, it would be cool to be able to not skip the trip (like GTA IV's taxy system lol) and see the views from the clouds. WOW. One of the best topics ive seen in a while, since theres been nothing to talk about lately.
Raavi
Great idea! Would be even better if you could have a personal driver that could take you anywhere including to your jet and vice versa. I know in real life when I fly corporate I usually get picked up by a company car, I rarely have to drive to the airstrip/airfield/airport myself. So'd be realistic if it was like that in V. Kind of like this image. – overeducated wonk who fetishises compromise
Chalance
At first this seems like an odd idea but after you explain, it sounds good. I like the idea of having this mode of transportation. Would the jets be owned by the player or would you have to pay for each ride??
ilovev.city
i would like to be a pilot like you could be a taxi driver before. flying passenger or cargo planes with strict time limit and landing at the right spots. this would be really nice
RichyB
Stupid idea with planes, as you said, it might not be able to land anywhere near you. A helicopter would be much, much better. Although your thought made me think it would be good if you could have a pilot job like you could be a taxi driver in San Andreas, and a bit of IV. It's still a mere hypothesis though – overeducated wonk who fetishises compromise

This GTA isn't about living the high life, maybe for Michael, but Trevor doesn't exactly live the high life does he, and he is an ex military pilot, so it's not exactly an implausible idea. Kind of like this image. Excellent idea. It would be perfect if you were in the middle of nowhere, and you just whip out your Ifruit, hit the service car app, and 30 secs later your limo has arrived, ready to ship you off to your jet. I like the idea of having this mode of transportation. Would the jets be owned by the player or would you have to pay for each ride?? Well let's say to start off, you have to pay a large sum for this extravagant form of transport, and then once you've built up enough cash, you can purchase your own jet and crew. Could be a great way to spend all this money we're apparently going to be making. Stupid idea with planes, as you said, it might not be able to land anywhere near you. I don't mean being able to mark a spot anywhere on the map to just land a plane onto. I mean having designated landing areas, a bit like the train stations in San andreas and Red Dead Redemption, but more diverse and imaginative areas spread across the map. For example: Say you want to land somewhere near the golf course. Hey, lets use the f*cking fairway as a run way! Crazy I know, but GTA has never been about doing things subtly. Capricornus
Its a fantastic idea. As much as I hate to say it, I HIGHLY doubt it will be a feature in the game. A lot of the desired or better features/ideas tend to get left out of GTA games it seems. The use of private jets as transportation would be superb. I remember when initially, in GTA IV you were going to be able to use Limousines as Taxi's, and the feature got scrapped.
killahmatic
I cant see it working. Landing strips are usually too short for jets to land which could really limit how many places there are to land. R* wouldnt make that system if you only have 2-3 places to land, it wouldn't be worth the effort. But anyway, just like with taxis, i'd rather just steal it and drive myself
cannabinos
I don't know where you want to land, because in V we will have 2 or 3 airports... Map will be very small, they should put LS, SF and LV, and map 20x bigger than IV+RDR+SA.

Laurens078
Its a fantastic idea. As much as I hate to say it, I HIGHLY doubt it will be a feature in the game. This. Would be nice to have, maybe not from the start but after some missions involving an private jet, and at the end they would say something like "you guys did good work, keep the jet. Whenever you need to go somewhere just call this number" And the number would give you a certain location after calling where the jet will land and you could just go in and explore the plane as an interior with some interactive things (drinking etc) and the jet will land after a while and your on (or near) the location you choose. IronZombie
Switching characters is already fast travel by itself. There's no need for this since I don't think the map will be that gigantic that you couldn't just get in the plane and pilot it yourself.

Rockstar already said the map is bigger than RDR, IV and SA put together. That's pretty much around 20-30 sq miles of land.
Los Santos County Sheriff
*phone rings* Michael: Hello? Trevor: I need you to meet me at the burger shot in (insert name of small desert town here) quick! Theres a drug courier with a sh*tload of cash making his rounds and I need your help taking him out! Michael: Im on my way! Michael leaves his home in the Vinewood hills and starts driving toward LSX. Along the way he hits heavy traffic. An hour later he makes it to the charter area at the airport. He arranges for his flight, boards the plane and looks out the window as the plane spools up, taxis and finally takes off. The flight last about a minute and a half and then lands at a small airfield. Michael exits the plane and hails a taxi. The taxi drives him the last 10 miles and he finally arrives at the burger shot where he sees Trevor passed out by the dumpster - a half eaten cheeseburger in one hand and an empty bottle of whiskey in the other. Michael: Hey! Wake up! (he kicks trevors foot) Trevor (in a drunk stupor): Huh? What do you want? Michael: Lets go get this guy! Trevor: What guy? Michael: The courier! The one you called me about! Trevor: That was over three hours ago! He probably half way to Vice by now! Michael: Dammit! (he pulls out a gun and shots trevor in the head) MISSION FAILED Total travel time: 3 hours 10 minutes Trip cost: $250,000 Cash gained from mission: $0 The morale of the story? Your idea is stupid. Charter helos would be better, but still also stupid.

Habs
That's the reason I'm trying not to read a few threads because I'm f*cking dreamins when I see something like that. Of course I would like to see a feature like this in a GTA... Unfortunately I don't think it's going to be included in the game. I know the map is going to be big, but I also think it's going to be 30% Los Santos, 20% small cities, 50% contrysides... (Don't get mad, it's a personal feeling). It's not like you could use your private jet to go to Venturas or something wich would be crazy, using a private jet to go in the middle of nowhere wouldn't be exactly glamour according to me. The Scottish Guy
The morale of the story? Your idea is stupid. Charter helos would be better, but still also stupid. Where did I specifically say this feature should be limited to mission play? And like I said, it could be a feature that could be skipped, just like taxi's were used to get you around the city (as well as attending missions I might add). It was just an idea, given that everything else has been discussed to death around here. But I guess topics like whether CJ is returning or the 1000th map size thread are more appealing.
