It's not impossible but from what we saw so far, Rockstar would have to do something very wrong to make the game bad in any way. That is why they delay all their games, they take all the time they need and they improve everything as much as possible until the final deadline. Though there are some technical problems like vehicle handling etc., in some different aspects it proved it's impressive mechanics to a whole new level. That will exactly do the same to GTA V as well, much more improvement in their previous title. But the visuals were so improved, it felt like a trade-off. GTA V is shaping up the be the high def San Andreas, so the chances of sucking are near zero. Anyway on topic, i've been thinking the exact same lately. The same happened with Mafia 2, it got delayed several times and there was a ton of hype and when it was released many people were disappointed with it. Many missions and features were cut. Besides, personally it was the best GTA to date, because of the graphics and gameplay, i agree though that the fun was taken away but it was the first HD GTA of this gen, so why blame Rockstar? But people seemed to forget that IV was the first few games coming out to PS3 and 360 back then, R* was unfamiliar with the new engine so they couldnt really push it to the limit yet.
