We'll likely see them walking around, ordering/eating food. using phones, maybe interracting with each other (talking, taking pictures with phones, etc)

 

I'm sure we'll see the same Pedestrian activity as GTA IV, maybe a bit more variation added. IE: Interracting with players more.

I hope we see lots of different pedestrian activities so the games' 'life' doesn't become stale. I just hope we DO see the people going to work, doing their job and then going home. I'm going to follow 1 person and see if this actually plays out. Then I'll kill em

I want to be able to have small interactions with a wide varying range of peds, like in rdr but expanded on, and less annoying. By less annoying I mean the interactions wouldn't mostly consist of, "Hey, it's John Marston!" or "Some fella that John Marston", and of course, who could forget "Howdy Mister Marston!!!".

I'd like to see Peds doing a lot of sh*t man. GTA IV started it out nicely with peds walking around talking on their phones and what not. I want to see a ped talking to someone on their phone, tell the person to meet them at the current location, they arrive, the other ped gets in and they actually go somewhere as opposed to them endlessly driving around.

 

I'd also like to see peds robbing gas stations, concenience stores and liquor stores. sh*t, bring back the III-era type peds that used to randomly carjack people. I want to see peds coming out of their respective house, getting into the car and going down to the beach. Later in the day you see the same ped return to the same house, and he/she even comments on their day saying something like: "Damn, I can't wait to hit that beach up again!"

R* confirmed that every AI has a dynamic state machine coded into them they gave us an example too "youll see a man at the bus stop in the morning then at the work place the. Him going home later in the evening !

I wouldnt get too excited about the peds. Basically they need to be doing more activities, common ones.

IMO if there is one franchise that does this right it's Assassin's Creed.

How many times per day/week/year do you actually see someone robbing or carjacking IRL? Would it make sense for the player to be constantly stumbling across this?

If they could work on the colective AI, that would be a real step up. Meaning:

 

- different peds and behaviours depending on the time of day; doesnt make sense to see an executive going to the office at 3AM. Makes sense to see chicks going to the disco;

- peds gathering on certain areas; example: at night, like in TBOGT, waiting in line to enter the Bahama Mamas. Btw, the whole night life aspect of TBOGT definitely needs to be present in GTA V;

- at night, bars/pubs are crowded, music playing loud;

- assuming there's public transportation in the game, during the day, bus stops/metro stations are crowded with people going home/to work/school.

- different types of groups need to be present, not just the regular single ped or couple. Tourists walking together, 3 or 4 people going somewhere together, couples on a date, etc.

dont know bout cali.but gta iv got the ped thing correct.in manhatten people are antisocial as sh*t an dont talk.they missed freshmen colledge,uni students with backpacks.they r friendly and are everywhere.the english ped in iv was cool though.even though english people are normally better mannered than americans.

I'd like to see the same kind of thing we saw in Red Dead Redemption.

 

I remember watching a NPC chopping up wiid, then going off to wash himself at a faucet and then joining another group of peds sitting around a campfire listening to someone play the violin.

 

Was crazy, couldnt believe what I was seeing.

 

And on these "systems" that R* have mentioned, they've been saying we can follow peds throughout their day, watching them work and go home etc. as early as Vice City, but it's never been the case in the finished game.

 

Hopefully this time around it really is the case, especially seeing as they've said GTA V will be a representation of everything they've learnt over the years about open world games.

Talking on the phone, talking to friend or gf next to them, sleeping/sitting on benches, homeless people laying around under trees, running from cops, jogging listening to music, hitting on women, picking up hookers, dealing/buying/using drugs, loitering, eating, fighting, drinking, yelling at people drunk, shopping, waiting for the bus, sitting on their porch, smoking outside their house, celebrities walking around with shades (oh please we need celebrities in this game), walking their dog, chilling on a building, doing construction work, dealing with car crashes
