I'm not really into italo-disco but they made some funky but also nice electronic disco tracks in mid tempo from the early 80's that I really dig.

Italian disco band well known in today's underground funk scene.

This one is about cats driving cars or pre Sonic The Hedgehog ;)

Probably one of my favorite italo-disco track. The beat, rhythm, synths and vocal are very catchy :music:

Some lovely songs brought to you by ze Germans.

Boney M. - "Daddy Cool"

Dschinghis Khan - "Moskau"

Goombay Dance Band - "Eldorado"

Harry Thumann - "Underwater"

If you love K109 like I do, you've likely heard that last one numerous times before.

Dschinghis Khan - "Moskau"

Oh god this song. I didn't knew it before today and I must say that it's very good. The funny thing is that I out with some friends at a friend's birthday party and I didn't go easy too easy on the vine. We had a few more drinks in the club. I danced my @ss off on that new Bruno Mars track because it's totally my kinda new 80's funky sound. The deejay was playing a mix of everything and I didn't seem to follow the music flow or whatever you want to call it. But before I forget, I later saw a chic dancing with a couple but she seemed unaccompanied. One moment she stopped dancing she turned her back and went to the counter for her drink. The deejay way playing the song that goes "hey hey hey I said hey what's going on" and I joined the girl and started to sing the lyrics to her before she started to smile at me. Then for some reason the deejay played Last Christmas by Wham... and I hope I was not hallucinating because WTF? I sang along mimicking that it was meant for her and she played along. Then New York, New York by Frank Sinatra started playing and I garbed the girl by the hand and we started to dance body to body. I asked where she was from and she answered the USSR. She was not bad at all. Unfortunately, there was no funk.

Gay disco ftw...

:miranda::panic: It is well made and probably very very risky to do at the time. I love it. To me the congas are the high point of that track.

I could listen to K109 the Studio all day if it played nothing but Underwater all the time, my favorite song on the original K109, well maybe tied with Till You Surrender.

One of those American bands who knew how to make the people groove.

Lovely catchy disco music by this musician, writer and multi-platinum Grammy and Emmy winning producer.

Another one of my favorites that Mr. Walden wrote and produced. It has that Chic (Nile Rodgers & Bernard Edwards) feeling.

Let's go roller disco dancing. Originally as a trend in the 1970's when the disco craze was at its highest peak and very popular around the early 1980's.

We will start with a down tempo track for the beginners. Keep it smooth and don't hesitate to grab your partners hips :colgate:

For the ones that are very familiar with roller skating, the floor is yours with this mid tempo track. Now it's your chance to show them your magical skills. Who knows... you might grab the attention of someone willing to roll with you in private

Not 80's, but that entire post reminds me of this.

Many soul, funk and disco records have LP covers with beautiful models on them. There will be nice and beautiful artworks too. One of the many reasons I love vinyl records. I have to admit that I have bought records just because I thought the covers were beautiful or freaking hot (European vinyl covers even had naked women on them).

Ok enough BS! The disco train continues with these two tracks from the late 70's.

Updating my sample library and came across this Italo Disco gem, almost completely forgot about it which is odd because the vinyl art is repulsive.

3 great posts from , @Mister Pink and . I neglected that Stephanie Mills song years ago. I realize now that it's a very nice laid back track. The two other posts sound ahead of their time especially the two from 1979. I can imagine that the electronic sound wasn't that popular or liked by many even if there are some popular bands or performers like Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder or Jean Michel Jarre to name a few.

British disco funk that sounds American.

The early 80's New York produced some dope club tracks. Surely played at the Roxy or the Paradise Garage.

There's an electronic album called Hathor by a French avant garde musician called Igor Wakhevitch, released in 1973. You wouldn't believe how fresh it sounds, even now. There was electronic music around, sure, but nothing like this and I've spent ages digging. I'll share a track from that:

However, amazing as it is, it ain't disco so I'll throw this in as well. Sorry for the terrible quality - there are better links floating around but YouTube isn't behaving itself tonight.

@AAR: Ohh the tonal/production qualities of the bass in that Wuf Ticket track.. nice.

And yeah it was just hitting the mainstream, pre-British explosion.

There's a few docs I think all from BBC on this subject. There's others that focus on particular bands and their contribution for synth music, one being Depeche Mode.

More British Disco/Funk...

Nice track.

Sharing my favourite Donna Summer song, Sunset People. This is the extended mix which is nearly double the length of the 7" release, and is also the edition heard on the LP Bad Girls. I can't even bring myself to listen to the single anymore, it's too abrupt and is about 80% less sexy. It's excellent as an album closer too.
