Really? I hadn't realized that R* revealed their scale on the game so that we could do this.

 

Wait they haven't so we can't.

 

Anybody got anything here besides what something looks like? Because as objective as that is I'll take what people who have played the game and developed it say over the expert opinions of people here.

I am stating that the methodology that R* used to deduce this 'fact' COULD be suspect given that the city does not appear (from the pics seen) to back up R*.

You keep saying that V's land will be 21 s/miles. How did you determine that number? I think it should be bigger than that based on the 3.5 RDR thing. Even without counting the unplayable areas in RDR.

 

I'd say RDR's playable area is roughly %75 of SA (someone correct me with a link if I'm wrong) and that makes V's map around 35 s/miles.

 

Based on that I believe the city can be around 5 to 6 s/miles. (Based on my assumption that the city will be around 1/6 or 1/7 of the map)

By my diagnosis of this thread and the V section in general, resorting to aggression and name calling is often the only way get a point across. Otherwise you will be ignored by those who are too busy responding to the name calling/aggression brought against them and those who want to conveniently forget your argument as it holds too much merit.

You see, the thing is these RDF guys have very thick skulls that can be hard to penetrate. But I'm pretty sure that your statement and to a lesser extent combined forces well enough to drill the message home into their hard-knock minds.

Here's another thing I don't get. Several pages ago, you were irritated because people were throwing out insults and now you do exactly the same thing. I can see that a lot of people on both sides are also incredibly hypocritical. If you're going to insult their intelligence as a whole, then I don't see why they can't do the same to you. Some people on their side are intelligent and have posted valid points for their respective argument. If you can't see that, then maybe you are just as "thick headed".

If someone has a thick skull, it's not an insult it just means that they are stubborn and hard of hearing, and that is what many RDF guys on here have demonstrated themselves to be. Beside the aggressive and ignorant attitudes and ways of the RDF expressed earlier in this thread forced me and the rest to react with hostility. Right now the stuff I'm saying is that even that harsh, so enjoy while I'm quite moderate on the so-called 'insults'.

 

I've discussed several times in a civilized manner, so I know I've done my part. But attacks will be met with attacks, so once again, that's warning shot.

I did not say that Rockstar said that LS was smaller than LC overall. I know what Rockstar said, they said that LC downtown is smaller than LC, I read all that. I'm talking about the whole city f**k the rest. Just the two whole cities. LC looks bigger than LS when looking at the images.

Yes, but like I said, this isn't restricted to the "RDF" guys. Some people on your side are just as ignorant and stubborn as the "RDF".

There are two sides here.

 

On the one hand RDF aka R* Defense Force that believes the city of Los Santos will be bigger than the city of Liberty City.

In the other corner we have the people that think Los Santos looks smaller (by looking at screenshots) than what R*/previews said.

 

Both parties like to throw around statistics, maps and screenshots with colored lines on it.

I occasionally visit this thread, but everytime I'm reminded why it's only rarely. Can anybody tell me if there is a general consensus on the approximate size of the city. I mean, after all these measurings, convergence points, lines all over the screenshots, there must be a square mile estimation that is common amongst them. I'm useless at maths so please excuse my ignorance.

It looks to be approximately the same size as Liberty City, so around 6 sq. miles.

I was playing TBOGT yesterday & with the increased ceiling height, you can see the entire map. I'm wondering whether Los Santos & indeed the entire map, will seem bigger or smaller due to the fact you won't be able to see the entire landmass, or the edges of the map. Or will we? If the ceiling height is increased, say trebled, would we be able to see the map in its entirety. Will we have to be near the centre to see everything, or will clouds obscure our view above a certain height. Also, wil LS seem bigger or smaller due to being attached to the rest of the map.

 

I guess we'll have to see it with our own eyes because all these screens & short clips in trailers are confusing me.

Still find this topic rather amusing Grown men on here arguing about a city in a video game. For all you. But seriously, this is funny and I'm having a good time at work reading this. Makes the day go by real fast.

The whole map is basically 25.7 sq miles. If you add IV's map = 6.3 sq miles and add 5.5 sq miles (RDR playable area), and 13.9 sq miles of SA's map, that is 25.7 sq miles. But we don't even know if RDR's unplayable area is included. Therefore, if it is included that should be another 6.4 sq miles. So add that to 25.7 = 32.1 sq miles.

 

It is more towards 32 because they aren't going to leave out the waste of space from RDR's map. Even if they don't, it won't matter because of the level of detail. This extra 6.4 would just be a bonus. Either way, we have a VERY big map. Not as GKP expects however, rofl.

The only problem is that most of the suburbs/ghetto hasn't been shown yet, and maybe some other areas, and as well as the improved draw distance, these are what the causes are for the "Small" looking map.
