I can honestly say that I've never played a gta game and felt that the map wasn't providing me with enough.

Anyhow kids it's been fun, but we are spinning in the same viscous circle here and subsequently not achieving a god damn thing. We will know more either when the map gets released or when the game releases. From what we know so far LC > LS, let's hope I'm proven wrong.

 

@GTAfan786 ; I suggest you re-read the previews again they didn't actually see the map in its entirety, they merely saw gameplay which as has been proven countless times can be very deceiving. Something that looks like it's 1000m away can in reality be 100m away.

and STILL talk negatively about the map? You say that nobody has seen the map in it's ENTIRETY, yet you still act as if you know the map size. Your statements are contradicted by your OWN replies to others.

That's correct, no one outside of the Rockstar offices has seen the entire map of GTA V in its entirety. However, we have seen 90% if not the entire Los Santos area highlighted in countless screenshots and stills taken from the trailers. Which gives us more than enough to accurately map the Los Santos area, which has been done over and over again in the "Mapping Los Santos thread", resulting in the maps that have been posted here countless times.

Of course not, because that's complete horsesh!t. We've seen maybe 50% of the city in detail. The rest has been hazed over or to our backs in the screenshots.

My picture shows why the perspectives are different, and therefore why YOUR unscientific line drawing is meaningless. 

 

 

For the third time:

 

 

The horizontal distances can be compared using pictures from different perspectives when you get similar sized objects lined up.

 

 

 

 

From the whole San Andreas + IV + RDR scale being thrown to us, the map will be a little larger than the speculated graphic you provided there.

 

Then again, we've recently been told the land area will be the equivalent to 3.5x RDR.

 

 

SA + IV + RDR is about the same as 5 times RDR - around 27.5 square miles . That measurement takes the 3-D topography (mountain height and ocean depth) into account.

 

I believe the 3.5 times RDR measurement is the entire flat 2-D map area - both land and water surface. That's about 20 square miles.

Choco Taco, I understand that principle now like I did the first time I ever saw it-- if an image has its proportions distorted, as is the case with a fisheye lens (used in GTA V), your method is completely useless. We need SO MUCH MORE information about the cities to relate them to each other in the way you're trying.

 

Do you see the way the focal points converge in the sky in my picture? That's not supposed to happen, but you don't seem to understand why that invalidates your method, so I'm done trying to explain it to you.

Okay, I'm having a very hard time understanding why this topic is filled with so much unnecessary bloat on something we've gather such little information on.

 

What I really don't understand is why people who aren't satisfied with the city and map size are still here complaining and bad mouthing Rockstar. I get it, you're a die hard fan, but if they've let you down so much, don't buy the game. They won't get your money, so you'll make your point of being dissatisfied.

 

I feel like justify bad mouthing them with the idea that you're the one paying them for their product, but there wouldn't be any product for you to pay for in the first place if they hadn't made it in the first place.

 

If you really are a diehard fan, you'd give the game a chance before coming to a conclusion on it before we've gotten any in depth information on the missions and side activities you can do within the game. I feel like this hate and bad mouthing towards the developer should come when either the game comes out, or more information is released. At this time, you should just be contacting them with request and treat them with respect while they put so much time into making a game which takes into account things people would have liked to see in IV.

 

That's my three cents, now I wait for people to disagree with me and then say obscene things. Hopefully there will still be a few who'd respectfully disagree and state their reasons, but that's unlikely.

In that pic R* was just showing off how great the draw distances was in the game.Also the Observatory is on a high up advantage point so with a great draw distance of course the city is going to look small but its not though.
