R* have removed everything from Rancho Palos Verdes to El Segundo, they've taken out Hawthorne, Lennox, Gardena and Lawndale, practically the whole South Western part of LA they've also moved Santa Monica and Beverley Hills to within seconds of Downtown which is about 10 seconds from the beach, they then removed everything in between the southern border of Downtown apart from Inglewood which has been combined with Compton,Watts and parts of Crenshaw to make a tiny little area called South Los Santos around the size of Bohan and just south of that is the Harbor.

The north eastern side of the city is a residential area where all the Mexican immigrants they talked about live, and the SE part of Los Santos is nothing but Long Beach with mountains to the immediate right.

That's f*cking pathetic, R* f*cked this one up big time, maybe if the stupid c*nts would lay off the f*cking whiskey this wouldn't have happened.

Ifeel people here on the forums are much more fun of desert areas, to each his own, for me i have rather true replica of LA with lots of different neighourhoods then sprawling deserts, ofcourse best would be both!

I agree, I want a Los Santos Urban Area that is a good deal larger than the one depicted in screenshots so far. But not to the extent that I have to drive for 10-20 minutes just to get anywhere.

This is evident in L.A. Noire. Do you know how f*cking annoying it is to be driving from Central L.A. all the way to Hollywood? Half-way through I wanted to shut off my Xbox!

The point is, GTA was never and never will be a game for "patience, skill and a game for wanna-be criminal masterminds". The theme of the game is fast-paced action and not driving around at high speeds and yet Downtown Los Santos never seems to get any closer and you just feel like taking a cab and skipping the trip. It's stupid.

Grand Theft Auto 4's Liberty City, despite its size, takes a good amount of time to traverse from one place to another without the player getting frustrated. Hell, just driving Henrique and Armando from the Homebrew Cafe in East Broker all the way back to Northwood in Algonquin was frustrating enough.

EDIT: And for the guys who keep saying that the whole map size is a lot larger than Liberty City and that there is the countryside and mountains to explore, that ain't the point of the thread at all. The discussion is about the Los Santos City Area. You know, the one with a lot of buildings, people, roads, skyscrapers, strip clubs, dance clubs, restaurants and not grass, trees or weasels hunting deer.

We all know now, that GTA V's world will be 5 times the size of Red Dead Redemption, if you count underwater. That's a big-ass world for us to explore, from the first day, right there.

We're discussing the size of the Los Santos Metropolitan Area, not the whole map. How many times does this need to be addressed?

Fight me?

lol.gif Dafuq you think this is? Ain't nobody fighting.

OT: One thing I really hope is suburbia southeast of LSX and suburbia to the east of Los Santos. I mean what else would lie there? I doubt it all just goes from ghetto to countryside/desert. There has to be some sort of suburbia.

I'm also skeptical that we'll only get beaches to the south of Los Santos. We have Interstate 5 (Las Puertas Fwy) heading down there. And what is 'Las Puertas'? Del Perro Fwy is evidently named off of the pier so Interstate 5 must be named off of something significant - which I assume is a suburb.

What do you all think?

OT: Rockstar themselves told GameInformer that Los Angeles is famous for its size and sprawl and that it wouldn't feel like L.A. if they take it away. So it's either one of the two:

1) Rockstar went out of their minds and created a small and OVER-condensed city that looks like a badly crushed together combination of different distinct areas of L.A. County

2) Rockstar is deceiving us with screenshots and are hiding more areas of Los Santos.

I really hope it's number 2.

But tell me: How does LC/the map in IV looks to you?

Much larger than the one we currently seeing of Los Santos.

Sorry, but I don't see how people can even begin to insist these screens are showing a city the same in scale to IV's LC. Yes, the dowtown area is much smaller, as it should be to reflect it's real life counterpart, but shouldn't that make the rest of the city seem larger, given that one of LC's main islands was basically just skyscrapers?

I keep looking at the distance between the shoreline to the east mountains, and that, to my naked eye, looks around the same distance between LC's airport and the Algonquin Bridge.

I truely, truely prey that I am proved wrong and made to look an idiot for this. Nothing would make me happier, believe me.

@ Scottish

Liberty City in GTA IV clearly looked huge in it's screenshots, and because of that nobody even dared question it's size. Don't these guys think if Los Santos in GTA V looked that way, we would not be saying otherwise ?

How many times does this have to be told to these guys ? We know these things may not sound nice, but I just don't get how their eyes cannot see this in the images.

And like I said, I'm hoping very much that we're wrong, but thee guys just don't wanna hear it, they think we're just whiny, moany troublemakers.

What people don't seem to realize is that Los Santos is not a replica of Los Angeles. It's not even named Los Angeles, it's Los Santos. Los Santos is just a parody of Los Angeles, clearly, that is supposed to give you a taste of LA with a little comedy. This happened with Liberty City, can't fathom why people figure Los Santos would be done differently.

I admit, I am pissed that Ranchos didn't make it. But, I was pissed some neighborhoods, and a few beautiful structures, couldn't make it into Liberty City. I got over it and love Liberty City. I'll be like that with V. Not everything significant can make it into a game.

Who you calling a dummy you prick, do you realize IV was a fuzzy grey piece of sh*t hotdog & bowling simulator or are you that f*cking dumb ?

Now a message to everyone talking about how La Noire was too big, La Noire was one of the sh*ttest games I've ever played it was a f*cking interrogation simulator for f*cks sake, what else could you do in LA Noire apart from 'drive here, drive there, interrogate him, interrogate her' and look for Evidence in a f*cking room ? From what we've heard about GTA V so far a big city would be perfect, you'd never run out of things to do and buy etc.. but R* are obviously too f*cking dumb to realize that, they take 5 steps forward 10 steps back.

Now that looks really accurate. Maybe it really does match the size of Los Santos in GTA 5. If it does, then the size isn't so bad. Imagine the suburbs on the right of the image and there ya go, ain't so bad.

I mean this is how big the area should be, it isn't though and the SF valley area is devoured if you will, by countryside in V.

Please note that the empty patches of land resemble the neighborhoods that are named there. So much more wider.

These kind of answer are what make the whole Los Santos size discussion not good, when people express their doubts about the size a lot of times you get answers like 'dont worry, rockstar knows what they are doing' then if you still express your worries people tell to you to stop whining, nothing has in this whole discussion changed my mind about my worries about the city, the only thing right now which would help was some more info from rockstar because the desertlovers haven't convinced me that Los Santos will be ok, again the city might be big but what do they do with it?

Like 5 years isn't enough to make a decent sized city. The city - countryside ratio is simply unacceptable and half-assed. Just look at that, huge enormous countryside, small dense city.

And that's EXACTLY what I want. I don't need "useless" sprawl which looks the same about hundred blocks. I don't need other neighborhoods if there are already good ones in it and these are important. Sorry if you can't just accept that.

R* is making a city for everyone in the world. They don't do it for Los Angeles residents only or for those who expect a very good recreation of Los Angeles. What part of reimagination don't you understand guys? And why do I feel that I've already mentioned it..?

I personally have no problem with the overall size, the screenshots and trailers just arent doing the city size justice. theres probably more to the city than what we have seen. The rest could just be behind the mountains, dont forget this is a REIMAGINED version. R* could just shove a mountain in the middle if they wanted. Los Santos in San Andreas was extremely condensed the districts wernt even in the correct places but it still had the feeling and vibe of LA. No one complained about that version.
