The article that mentions the magic number 49 has mistaken KM for MILES!

49km = 30 miles.

If RDR is around 6m sq...

GTAV landmass is 21m sq (roughly RDR x 3.5)

The water is 10m sq (roughly RDR x 1.5)

31 miles square converted to km is 49.8. The number 49 is close to accurate - the unit was wrong!

City is still too small.

Its not the size of your map that matters, its what you can do in it that matters.

So who's scale was most accurate?

The real map appears to be 5% 3% smaller than my estimate.

EDIT: oops, but good oops.

Is it accurate to compare RDR river size with the ones on the GTA V map?

Boy, you folks are quite the mathematical and geographical geniuses aren't ya?

Is it accurate to compare RDR river size with the ones on the GTA V map?

That's unnecessary because we've worked out the exact scale of the RDR map in meters and feet and the BradyGames map helpfully has a scale printed on it.

Can we get an accurate over lay of GTA IV to the map

If you want a bigger map, try something called "real life".

Just remember that units are not the same measurement from game to game.

Using the two arenas for the scale on San Andreas map:
It's really not that hard.

This is the scale using Magic_Als scale, but it seems like LC is WAAY to small. Can someone check me on this

This guy here at reddit made a very detailed analysis of the map. He scaled them correctly and put all 3 maps, IV, SA and RDR, on GTA V map.

The result you guys can see here.

Anyone else saying that the map is small? hahaha

Good work Deff. I think the reason why LC looks even smaller now is because of those extra pieces of land below the airport and docks which make it look even longer.

Quit f*cking posting that reddit guys f*ckin' bullsh*t. He's a f*cking idiot who did all his calculations in the incorrect scale. That picture is COMPLETELY wrong.

Sorry to say but that guy on reddit is wrong. He used the wrong scale. The line he used wasn't 5,000 feet but 3,000 feet which makes his map 50 % bigger than it really is.

If the mapsize is inadequate and you're not happy, don't play the game.
Simple.

Cry now about the map and then regret it later when it's bigger than anticipated.

Isn't there an official scale in the left bottom corner of the map?! The upper line goes to 5000ft, lower to 1609m meaning 1 mile. I remember being told RDR had a ~50km2 map..

I copied the scale on the map and this tells tha total length to be ~14mi and width ~10mi

Now that the cat's out of the bag, Rockstar should just post an accurate model of Los Santos, compared to GTA IV, RDR, and San Andreas.
