When you add the amount of interiors with V it will be massive compared to GTA IV

One fear:  GTAV might be less detailed environment-wise when compare to Watchdogs, or even GTAIV . Size might do that.

To me, LS seems just as detailed if not more detailed than LC, look at this.

As for watch dogs, we'll see when the ps3 version is shown

Yeah, I forgot about that ammunation pic

Look at all the graffiti on walls and stuff, they really make the game world pop out

What kind of detail do you think would have regressed? I don't see why it will be any less detailed, everything we've seen shows the same quality benchmark we've come to expect from GTA IV.

I'm pretty sure that V will be a marvellously detailed game for it's size; but how are they going to surpass the rich details of GTAIV?! panic.gif

You mean the beautiful city that had nothing to do in it?

Did nobody believe Game Informer when they said that Los Santos "definitely covers more square mileage than Liberty City"? It took 300 pages to finally believe them lol.

That quote is in the past tense because it was in a GTA V article. Maybe they referred to GTA IV + EFLC where with all the gang war and drug war locations, there were pretty much activities around most corners, so that wasn't that significant of an exaggeration.

This is a good example of GTA scale vs. real-world scale: GTAV packs landmarks from a whole region into a small area while L.A. Noire recreates a small area (compared to the whole city or region) at full size. You see GTAV's parody version of the Chinese Theater is re-imagined quite a bit smaller.

never knew the map of LA NOIRE was that huge o.o

Ya LA Noire's map is huge! And it's all practically city.

OT: I think the size of Los Santos is perfect! I only wish that Franklin's hood was further south from downtown.

Didn't have much time lately because of my job.

If someone wants to test if my new scale fits to the recently posted new scales of the other members feel free to do so and let me know if it fits.

It's based on GTA IV tennis courts, GTA IV cars and the GTA IV golfing mini game.

First i played some golf to see if the ingame distance values are correct and connected to real life sizes. They are, at least in the european version with meters used for distances.

Then i did <something> (too much to describe).

Last step was to see how it was working out in the 3D app.

I got the following results:

- car size still fits (compared to gta iv and even to real life cars)

- tennis court size fits (again, compared to gta iv and even to real life tennis courts)

- ingame distances (comparison between GTA IV/real life and GTA V golfing) are still different, but i got a better - more clearly - result this time, the difference should be exactly (not just at least (link)) "1:2" (half the distance) or "twice", depends on which way you look at it. Example: While GTA IV would show correct "distance = 168/169 yards" on screen, GTA V would show "distance = 336/338 yards" on screen. In other words: If you see "distance = 168/169 yards" printed on screen in GTA V while golfing, it's not "168/169 yards", it's just half the distance actually.

That's within 5% of mine. Or, in blueprint dots, my mile is about 18 dots and yours is 19 dots. Scaled to 1m resolution the difference is about 1 pixel of tennis court so it's hard to say for sure. I thought my tennis court measured 11x24 pixels at what I thought was 1m resolution but at your size it, I can see it's bigger, but it's blurry enough that a correct measurement might still be 11x24 pixels.

I have a serious question. Whats with the pixel counting. Dont pixel values change depending on the resolution of an image(in reference to the image of course)

The runways in GTA tend to be half a mile in length....that scale is off.

Once again, you provide a rebuttal, with not content to support the evidence.

San Andreas for example had 3 runways, and I'm fairly sure each of them had different lengths and widths.

Oh, I actually forgot about that one (I was only counting the ones from the three cities). So 4 different runways. The San Fierro airport one was definitely the biggest.

Although it was adequate enough to cater for a huge cargo plane. Both its landing and its apparent turning circle to taxi around full circle.

lol

I was just about to ask this very question. It doesn't make sense at all confused.gif

I think they use it when they change the resolution so both images or maps they are referencing have equally sized parts.

For example, re-sizing the images until roads are 5 pixels wide, so if the scale of the roads are the same in both, they can extrapolate and presume that the scale of the entire images are the same, and therefore comparable to each other, but it's not totally accurate.

I think its pretty innaccurate because it doesnt take into account depth of field and elevation differences.

A pixel at point A might be 1 meter, but at point B it could be 5 meters.

f*ck sorry for double post. Bad Pony anuj_cop.gif

Im gonna be honest with you guys, and please dont flame me because im just voicing my opinion.

But from what we have seen of the whole map of V, its hard for me not to get the feeling that SA felt bigger. Yes I know that V is much bigger than SA, and it IS huge in terms of detail. But after looking at the mapping topic, it feels like we have seen just about all the map has to offer and Im really not blown away.

The last ray of hope was that "Paleto" was something significant, but it seems pretty meh.

There are desert like areas, but not really a baron desert. There are forrested areas, but not really a dense forrest. And Im still not sold on the whole one city idea. There doesnt appear to be an airport far north, which sucks because theres one in LS and two in blaine county close to Los Alamos.

Im not the spoiled brat type, but im just not as excited for this map as I expected to be when trailer one came out.

And where the f*ck did this mountain range go???

@Deffpony I have to agree with you completely. They say the map is diverse but I can't see it. Sure, it may have different areas to it but oh well, we'll see come the 17th.

And this is where that mountain range went..

Honestly agree with you here. I really hope Rockstar has been hiding something large up their sleeve that they won't reveal until Sept. 17, but I highly doubt it.
