I don't see what changed either, the gameplay trailer just showed a city the same size as GTA 4. You could shoot a GTA 4 trailer and make Liberty City look massive. Los Angeles is much bigger than New York in square miles so people should be clamoring for Los Santos to be much bigger than LC and not settling for LC to be anywhere in the ballpark of LS size wise especially with a big ass map.

It might be similar in land area, but i'm still convinced it will have a much smaller footprint than LC, which is rather poor considering that size ratio between NY and LA.

I tried to explain ages ago that the length of the beach was about 3/4 of the length of Algonquin but nobody listened to me. To me, that's a pretty big stretch of map, and there's so much more underneath/around it too.

I was definitely wrong. The city isnt HUGE, but it is bigger than my projections would indicate. I would comfortable say its the size of GTALex's scale maybe slightly bigger. Good job dude.

 

But the city looks so robust, even if it was the size I expected I would be happy. So this is a win/win

Seeing how you were the most dependable source of information concerning Liberty City vs Los Santos size comparisons, I would love it if you elaborated on this statement so we can understand what has changed for you and what your estimates are right now. Why would your earlier scale that compared the size of buildings be incorrect?

 

That would be a lot more valuable than this whole choco taco vs rdf cockfest.

Even if that's the case, which I doubt (I think the boundaries of Liberty City and Los Santos will be comparable, talking about the complete areas of both), Los Santos has so much more density throughout the entire city that it's hard to even compare the two. Look at Faustin's neighborhood from IV compared to the residential areas in V:

I agree with you. V looks great. Much more dense and far more detail. But this thread isn't about the quality, rather the size. But now that we have more detailed info showing the roads and cars, maybe we can get some closer map comparisons. I look forward to some convincing evidence.

Well I already stated why the building reference was wrong. The Los Santos bank tower is obviously not to scale. In RL the LA Bank tower is alot larger than the other buildings around, yet in LS the Westin bonaventure and plaza buildings are well over half the size of the tower which just isnt right.

 

However, my supplemental scale used cars referenced to streets, and its clear to see that the argument GTALex was making is correct.

 

I was apprehensive to admit that the highway lanes were comparable between cities since we did not see much proof for that. The character switching scenes in the gameplay trailer shows that alot of the roads are actually larger than those in IV.

 

I would say now that GTALex's scale is pretty accurate. But to be modest I would assume the LS is equal in size to LC, possible larger. But I doubt its smaller.

My final estimate which is in my signature. I already told you that, but I have to remember you're a little slow and have to be told things multiple times before you can understand.

 

As far as my earlier pics, you're not including any context. Those earlier estimates are from last year and only include actual urban city areas which were revealed. I didn't include any hills or mountains to the north or east. Also, that was before Rockstar showed most of the southern areas including the airport location and the eastern part of the city and west coast. I guess you don't understand context since you're slow as I already mentioned.

 

One thing I'd like to point out to everyone is that kjacked had to search over 1,000 of my posts to find those images. He actually took the time to look through that many posts of mine. Over 1,000 posts! He's obsessed.

Today's gameplay video made it clear that Los Santos is bigger than what we expected.

 

It doesn't look bigger than I expected.

 

Watch the video starting at 2:11 when they move across the city in the zoomed-out view. Don't let the blur trick you. It didn't seem to go very far, did it? That covered an area this long:

 

 

 

If anyone wants to point out that a small area on the blueprint has some small houses on it, look at the image below and realize there are multiple 5-floor buildings in the red area:

 

 

 

One more -

 

 

That's the distance from downtown to the eastern edge of the city which is the same distance from downtown to the ocean on the west side.

So we're at the same place we were yesterday. LS is maybe a bit larger than just the land area of LC. But at least we have some clear roads and car info. We should be able to get some closer estimates now.

im still puzzled as to why you are terrified to take my bet that los santos is larger than the landmass of all of gta iv... you show los santos at about 1/3 to 1/2 the size of liberty city in your comparisons. either you were dumb enough to think you were correct in your size of los santos or you were trolling.

 

your estimates were waaaaaaaaay off and the map you have in your signature was made after seeing numerous trailers and hundreds of screenshots... as i said earlier, are you wanting a gold star for your finger painting?
