I was concerned over the city size

 

The trailer though, looks like I was wrong

It looks big. The zoom out moments and radar imply its big

 

I'm unsure about driving (ot) but MAN I'm hyped

After using these things:

 

 

I came up with this scale (lower left of the picture/map, white lines = based on the Audi A4, red lines = based on the Audi A8):

Keep in mind, it's based on car size, low resolution, .. etc. .., so it's a very rough estimate of the scale. (ps.: all work/calculations done in 3d space)

I got a pretty good idea when they were switching from franklin to Michael, also when they were racing in those two scenes, they were going fast, but they only past one or two intersections!! Like a guy said earlier, I had my doubts, but they were put to rest.

Ok so I looked long and hard at the maps, while watching the video.

 

I was definitely wrong. The city isnt HUGE, but it is bigger than my projections would indicate. I would comfortable say its the size of GTALex's scale maybe slightly bigger. Good job dude.

 

But the city looks so robust, even if it was the size I expected I would be happy. So this is a win/win

I don't see what changed either, the gameplay trailer just showed a city the same size as GTA 4. You could shoot a GTA 4 trailer and make Liberty City look massive. Los Angeles is much bigger than New York in square miles so people should be clamoring for Los Santos to be much bigger than LC and not settling for LC to be anywhere in the ballpark of LS size wise especially with a big ass map.

Los Angeles is much bigger than New York in square miles so people should be clamoring for Los Santos to be much bigger than LC and not settling for LC to be anywhere in the ballpark of LS size wise especially with a big ass map.

People, myself included, are amazed because even the smallest parts of the map seem huge from the ground level. Take this:

 

 

This tiny little block is actually pretty big, and can hold about 8 small houses, not just one like it seemed when you looked at it from above in the blueprint. I'd say, landmass wise, that LS is easily bigger than LS. Perhaps even 15-20% more.

Well if you remembered my comments, I always stressed that initially, Los Santos looked a small and not as big I expected due to the recent screenshots available - that was the truth about how I saw it at the time. And I did not actually say that LS was small as a fact, it was just due to what I could see available to me. And I always stated, that I hoped I was wrong and if I was wrong, I shall graciously accept defeat and admit to it, which I have done.

At this stage you'd have to be pretty barking mad to consider Los Santos small relative to the size of Liberty City or any other city in an open world game. Give it up man.

Today's gameplay video made it clear that Los Santos is bigger than what we expected. It shows that the blueprint map is extremely vague, and Raavi pointed it out perfectly in this post. Even if we don't know how big the city exactly is, which is something we can not know until we get to play the game to do in-game measurements, the city feels huge. And that is what really matters in the end.
