Course there isnt Deff...try telling these c*nts tho...f*ck em all.

Can you actually do something useful around here instead of complaining and insulting people? Like maybe doing some comparisons so your claims seem a bit more valid?

He'll compare the blueprint LS with the real LA. tounge.gif

For glory and for sprawl!

Just don't try to discuss with him the city isn't small. Because he won't budge an inch. No matter how many comparisons and estimations you throw at him.

That's funny because I distinctly remember him saying that he'd like to see evidence that the city is bigger because he hopes it will be. But it seems like he's ignoring pretty much every piece of evidence out there, confirming his role as a troll even further.

All this hostility could be easily avoided if people just stopped trying to beat their opinions into each other.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and they have a right to post it here, but it all boils down to the fact that no one has seen the full map yet so it simply can't be judged as too small or too big as fact. Arguing about it is pointless. If you have a problem with someones opinion, don't take it personally and just ignore it.

If someone else can confirm this, it's where we should start to measure the map. We don't need even 3D tools to start! You can draw a line over it using any free drawing tool and then use it to measure the rest of the city. smile.gif

Really rough estimate.

But that would make LS city 4 miles south to north. And 3 miles east to west.

9 square miles.

Again fast rough estimate.

not trying to be mean at all but wouldnt 4 miles multiplied by 3 miles give you 12 square miles? and i have to agree with some other posters here, los santos looks at least 20% bigger than gta iv.

You can't see the Port of LS, much of Southern LS and Del Perro pier. But to each their own.

I think most will be satisfied with the map size when they actually play the game.

Exactly. There is just the beach, port, and the west part of LS, which isn't much more to the screenshot according to the blueprint. So yes, LS is small.

based on what? are you blind? it is larger than all of gta iv and its a small portion of the map... its huge

I think you are the one who is blind. And it is not larger than all of IV.

It's larger (about 20% or so) than the landmass of Liberty City without the water. And the water is just filler...

This is the non-water area of GTAIV compressed into a circle. In other words, area as big as GTAIV cannot be smaller than the circle.

Angles, they're really deceiving.

That still looks absolutely huge, if you consider the scale of things. Assuming you're in a car at street level and not an aerial view, you're in a vehicle that's about 1/4 the size of that little building on the left of the Dam. Considering the distance between the two landmarks would never be as the crow flies if you're in a car, that's a pretty long journey, especially since the observatory is barely a silhouette at that distance.

Trust me, I know. I'm actually entertaining the idea of it being a bit bigger than Liberty City as it being the same size has already been proven over and over again. It looks huge on the first shot.

How big was Red Dead Redemption in Square Miles?

Impassible boundaries keep you within 6 square miles of explorable territory sprawled over a 15 square mile map.

Guys, the map is (possibly) bigger than MC:LA. Please play that, especially you, GKP, and come back. smile.gif

Exactly, and since the bank tower is right at the center of the city, almost half of the city is concealed in that first shot. The docks are the same distance from the bank as the observatory is. I think Los Santos will considered the best open world city in gaming history. Not the biggest, but the most perfectly balanced for size without being mundane, the most detailed and in depth, the most fun to traverse, the most diverse and entertaining, and this is just the city, we still have ALL that beautiful countryside out there.

That could be the case. I think it still won't be perfect, though, even as far as balance goes. The area east of the canals should probably be a bit bigger to make that true.

But LS certainly looks to have a great depth to it that many open world cities don't have, and which surpasses their previous attempts. I mean, imagine that view of Los Santos that you'll get when driving along the hills surrounding the city. None of R*'s other cities gives you a view like that from ground level. It just looks visually interesting in ways that even IV's Liberty City didn't because there were too many big buildings blocking your view everywhere. Instead in V you get to see the skyline from almost every part of the city, as well as the hills in the distance (with the Vinewood sign visible from the right places). And the way the lights of the city look at night is incredible.

One thing I have to wonder is whether the lack of completely separated sections, the presence of always-visible landmarks like the skyline, the Vinewood sign, and the Atomic Blimp, and the ability to view the city in its entirety from the outside on the road will make the place feel smaller or larger. All three seem to me that logically they would make it feel smaller, but this might not necessarily be the case. Particularly, since there's no bottle-necking going on when going from one place to another (having to cross a bridge), you will be able to take any path to go from one section of the city to another, and this may actually make it feel larger because you will find yourself being able to go through many parts of the city without having to use the same path over and over again.

Youre absolutely right! The city is so diverse, detailed and alive, you wont see this in any other game until GTA VI. Mark my words....

The area west of downtown is about double that of east of downtown i.e. the area in that pic, so Los Santos is not small.

is that a neighborhood under the buzzard, if it is, that might mean there is still a mile or 2 of city behind the observatory.

The Bank Tower is pretty much right in the middle of the city, so it's the same distance to the east and west.

haha lol i know.

I took 25% of because it isn't a perfect square.

But i'm with you on the 20% bigger than LC.

7 square miles seems fair.

Size is relative, the only thing that matters is the vibe, atmosphere of Los Santos. It seems like they captured that, which is very important. Anyone who has ever lived in/been to Los Angeles knows that it is a city like no other, not because of the sheer size but because there is a certain 'feel' you can't find anywhere else, which is very difficult to explain. It's the city that either makes you or breaks you. I've lived in Hollywood Hills myself when I was younger and the latest pictures/stills really show the 'vibe' of the area. Admittedly much smaller and denser, but that's besides the point. Los Santos will feel just like Los Angeles and that's all that matters.

Has someone take on account FOV on screenshots to scale the city or the whole map? Because in GTA IV when you look up you can see clearly a distortion in buildings, they look larger almost 1.5 more.

I know, I was in awe when I first saw this, mainly because of the sky. One of the recent previews said that the 'sky is very detailed' so I haven't lost hope.

I can't even begin to tell you how much time I'm going to waste snapping all these scenic shots around the city with the in-game cell phone camera. This is shaping up to be their best city by far.
