Thats a 4 by 4 block area supposed to represent one that covers literally 10 000 plus blocks.

 

 

I am not asking for a 1:1 representation but SURELY people can see that a 16 block area CANNOT adequately convey Watts Compton East LA etc etc.

The city ( in square blocks) is small. In distance its small..No East LA or Compton / Watts. How are surburbs that are just a few blocks large enough for you ?

 

 

Wait what? If there's no Compton AND Watts then that's just ridiculous. I mean I get it, less focus on gang culture in this game but if you take out 4 of the most important areas of South Central and say you are trying to represent LA, you have failed. Carson, Compton, Long Beach, Watts... absent from a city based on Los Angeles. Add that on with the absence of any type of East LA suburb and wow.. I get that they may have done the other areas perfectly but that's just lame how they left so many areas out. In that case what ghetto area did they include?

im still betting that the horse track is based on santa anita park and that is a one mile track. if that track is roughly a half mile in length then los santos is much much larger than all of gta iv. we will see when the game comes out. unlike gkp and the boys i dont like to throw around numbers i blindly pulled out of my ass

What's with this block fetish? It's the most inaccurate method of estimating sizes.

Considering the blocks (and roads) are much larger than the ones in LC, the area is fairly decent. Well, perhaps not for you...

Quite simply you cannot cram much into a block without an intersecting road...where the f*ck would the access for cars be ? FACT..there is a tiny number of square blocks representing at least 10 districts.

The number of blocks say nothing about the city size. V's blocks could be twice as long as IV's, they could be the same length.

 

But now I see that this discussion is useless since you have the mind set that the city is, and will undoubtedly be too small. Hope you have a change of heart in Sept. man.

@GTAAlex -- lots of folks in this thread like to throw around exact numbers and distances, even though not a single one of them has ever set eyes on the game firsthand. Haha, most of them haven't even been to Los Angeles. They're a bunch of trolls and jokesters, but they just keep responding so we should keep shooting them down. the horse traxk appears to be 4 downtown city blocks long. the ones next to it are suburbs. this would make it somewhere between a quarter mile and a half mile in length. it wouldnt be a half mile long if it was a one mile track. it be closer to 600m than 800m because of the distance used up in the turns. this would fit perfectly and if that track is anywhere near 600m long then los santos is much larger than gta iv.

The runway is based on LAX. Does that mean the runway in the game is over 2 miles long? If not, then why would the horse track be the same length as real life?

Landmass wise, it's quite a bit bigger (20% or so). The water in between the islands is nothing more than filler though. You couldn't really "drive" or walk over it right?

It was critical though to a feeling of moving from one location to another. Of course, thats how NYC actually is. Without this 'natural' benefit, one district will very quickly be another while driving.
