maybe we just can see the city of los santos at the front side of the blue map and at the back side there may be the whole countryside visible with all of los santos' surroundings. it would make sense to have a better orientation within the city itself with all its narrow streets and dense places and having one map to see how to get to more distant areas and having geographical features like height of mountains.... ...or maybe not tounge.gif

So i found this a few days ago. probably fake but it looks kinda real.

No, it doesn't. It's based on a fan-made map that was posted in the 'show us your map'-thread...

It's very nice when people get the maps that were made on this forum and think they are real.

I'm sorry if Icome across rude, but shut the actual f*ck up with that "re-imagined" bull faeces already.

Dan f*cking Houser said that they wanted to "replicate the sense of sprawl of LA". Where the flying f*ck are the big suburbs that contribute HEAVILY to that very sense of sprawl.

Yes, the essence of LA has probably been captured. But essence alone doesn't complete a meal.

I don't know, I'm actually happy that Rockstar didn't go all out on the "sprawl." Knowing their meticulous attention to detail, they wouldn't have made a single house look alike, instead opting to design each one separately so the area wouldn't be too boring... but the thing is, the area would still be boring. It's suburbs, street after street, grid after grid of more or less the same thing. I know it's not accurate to the true city, but LA Noire was extremely accurate and that map was pretty boring.

to be honest… it annoys me to see it in nearly every thread in this forum at the moment.

My overall opinion is that Los Santos is more or less big enough for ME, as I will be spending some time in the countryside as well, but it does annoy me when I look at quotes given by Dan Houser that indicate that LS is a truly sprawling city, when it obviously isn't. Like other have said, there just isn't enough room for any 'sprawling' suburbs.

I agree. Had it not been for the countryside, the city alone would have been an absolute joke. What made Dan re-iterate their capture of the "sense of sprawl" time and again baffles me completely.

We're judging the size based on a couple of trailers and a bunch of screens. I've said it many times before and I'll say it again. Rockstar are the masters of illusions. Turn off the mini map, play the game, go for a drive through LS and I guarantee it WILL feel big.

I know what you mean. But I guess noone expects a LS map like L.A. Noire had.

So I think most of those, who are complaining about the (shown) size of LS would like to see at least some more blocks of residential areas with single family homes and small businesses.

I must admit that I can understand these worries a little bit. The map as shown displays an extremely compressed image of what L.A. really is

Well, almost every R* description of Los Santos uses the word 'sprawling', plus in the November 2012 GameInformer preview he said that him and his brother wanted to do a 'proper Los Angeles'.

I'm not at all arguing with the "masters of illution" part, friend - I am sure as hell that they will make it feel a lot bigger than the city is.

But the missing suburbs are more than likely going to be an immersion-breaker. I mean, since when did big cities start ending abruptly without people living around it?

I live in a small city in India, and even my city "sprawls". Sprawls beyond the hills, and the city ends gradually; unlike what we have seen so far of LS, which has 3-4 square miles of city on one hand and country roads and countryside immediately next to it on the other hand.

I dont think it will be like that. You will probably have to take some long highways to get to the countrysides.

This is the deal: South West is the airport, South is the docks, nothing else.

We’ve made something that sort of is Los Angeles and sort of isn’t. And that’s deliberate, that it isn’t an exact replication of it.

This is a quote where Houser used the word replicate, and he used it as a denial.

I do think Dan Houser used the word sprawl somewhere, in the context of something like "the sprawling City of Los Santos", I couldn't find the original source of that though. But never did he say "replicate the sense of sprawl of LA". You are making sh*t up.

And Los Santos does sprawl. So he did not lie.

A sprawling city doesn't necerssarility ential something geographical. It can also refer to cultural diversities.

No it doesn't. Sprawl is an unambiguous term and has only physical connotations.

I'm looking at a scan of the page where he talks about Los Santos and, yes, he does talk about LS giving us LA's sense of sprawl "- if not completely replicate it."

It's good that you took your time to search for it. Search a bit more, and you'll end up reading exactly what I said: "replicate the sense of sprawl".

sorry if already posted, but is it possible that this unknown area is more of Los Santos? If it were about the size of the yellow area I circled, that would be a significant portion of the city that's missing from the Blueprint map revealed earlier.

The red circle basically shows how much extra land in terms of city streets there'd be. I assume these would be "suburban sprawl" type zoning as well judging by the northeast location potentially bordered by mountains.

The reason I am suggesting this is because the city doesn't definitively end before the blocked out portion begins, so it's safe for assume there's SOME extra city that is unseen. How much is there, I have no clue, so my yellow outline is just blind optimism.

Here's what the border between known and unknown area looks like:
