Things you hate/dislike in GTA San Andreas

Keep the topic alive. Some problems can probably get fixed by modding!

_________________________________________________________

1. I don't like the graphics.

They should have kept the III/VC engine graphics style.

I still cannot understand how they could remove things such as:

- Vehicle reflection

- Cumulus clouds

- Water reflection

- Sun flare

- Blood and water drops on screen

- Wallpapers and leaves on the ground

- Blurry blades (helicopters)

The second thing I really don't like is the fact that the map zone cannot be enhanced properly.

At first you think VC's area was more restricted but actually VC's map area can be enhanced to astonishing dimensions. San Andreas is in fact bigger but it is also more restricted at the same time.

3. I don't like the sound bugs.

4. The replay system: It is very buggy and limited to 25 FPS. By enhancing the FPS using programs you also enhance the replay speed. Slowing it down in a video editor, you are back at 25 FPS. Also sparks and everything was removed and the wheels of some vehicles aren't spinning

For the stunting scene Vice City had definitely the better replay system.

The Mobile version fixes most of the graphical issues. The Sun has flare and looks choice on my HD Nexus 7 screen. Car reflections are slick, same with water shine,

IT looks much better on my Nexus 7 than when I played it on my X box so long ago .... I never finished it back in the day either... only GTA I started but didnt finish... hoping to do that now on my Nexus 7.

The fact that CJ is a killing machine and has no problem on taking down the army, and he's a gangster!

Racing missions. Then car handling and physics are so crappy that racing is nightmare.

-it is therefore odd that Rockstar put so many Racing missions into the game. I mean they knew the driving was crap, so why did they torture us with racing, and worst of all, driving school???

Driving is crap? Hell it looks far better than GTA V driving. The races are easy. Only way to be able to lose is modding your vehicle to be slower.

GTA 5's car driving is way better than GTA SA's. Learn it. GTA 4 may have the best car physics, but in 5 at least the cars don't feel like boats.

I hate:

Graphics

lack of realism

The boarder.

At the time of publication (2004) the graphics were top line.

Realism, if you mean the silly and absurd story that's what makes it funny. If you mean the graphics, again. they passed on graphics to make the game playable (at the time).

I don't understand what you mean by 'The boarder'? You mean when CJ boards the jet in "Freefall"?

You must really dislike the prior games where the Character drowned in ankle deep water, couldn't step over curbs, let alone climb over a fence or to a higher level.

In memory I dont recall the graphics being 'top line' I'm not saying that the graphics where awful as yes they were good for the time but I think that other games released around that time did have much better graphics. I think the graphics would of been better though if the PS2 could of handled more, as GTA SA was most likely much more bigger/detailed etc than the other games that had better graphics at that time so R* did have to sacrafice GTA SA in some areas.

(I say this just for memory however)

Did those games have the same amount of gameplay features? I don't think Graphics are an important aspect to any game, it's all about the Gameplay/Quality. In 2004, the graphics were good and yes, they could be improved but I don't think it was much of a deal :p

I agree 100%, Im not a person that really cares about graphics as long as they are passable and not stick men on a screen. I think the graphics where good for the time and like I said they probably could of been better if the game wasn't so big (in terms of content, detail etc) as it was pushing the PS2 to the limits.

FCKING hands- This one is very small detail but to this day make me crazy, why they make fingers of characters look this way ? How difficult was it to make 2 models hands with separate fingers (male, female) and copy and paste it on all main cast .

The hands was a major improvement from the III and VC 'block hands'.

I loved the story, I loved how it almost perfectly went along with the two previous stories. I pee'd my pants when I first seen Rosenburg and Kent Paul. I sh*t myself when I raced against the snake without a tounge.... and I smiled with joy when I figured out Tommy Vercetti was still alive. They did a beautiful job.

I also loved going back to a snowy Liberty City.

I hate the fact the car saving system was to flawed for the game San Andreas was. You couldn't even take your car to a mission without losing it, and you were lucky if you didn't.

I hate there was no factual mystic to the game. No bigfoot, no ghost, no leathface, no sea-monster, no aliens or ufo... nothing. I am guilty of going out and investigating for the things above and for how big San Andreas was at the time, it was disappointing only to find a few body bags in the desert.

There is very few things i dislike about this game, however one thing that always is on my mind :miranda: why is "CJ" so prone to getting fat so fast, i build him up, 2 game days later hes fat.

i dont like that the final version is crap! suicidal.gif

YES. Once I saw what they removed in the final version of the game I was gutted. Really would of loved to see the Beta gang members and other things.

i dislike its more cartoony visuals/feel compared to Vice City, the weapons and cars especially.

The story missions were boring for the most part, (Vice City is really the only that has very good missions throughout, that and GTA1 and 2)

Radio - Vice City is the only good one.

San Fierro and Las Venturas and the desert are very dull and boring compared to Los Santos and the Country area.

cops seem to absolutely tolerate everyone except you, gang bangers are trying to waste you in the middle of a mission and the cops just stroll on by not a care in the world, you sneeze and they call in the swat and straight up try to murder you, also how cops can pretty much appear anywhere, for example, i was recently doing a mission, cant remember the name, where your in venturas dealing with dodgy chips or something, i shoot up everyone in the warehouse, no one is left alive so im sure no one is in there, i go outside with a two star rating, low on health, just about finish of the last of the enemies, im told to go to some checkpoint and then bam, im shot in the back by a patrol officer who somehow came from the warehouse i just cleaned out and mission failed -.- i pretty much attempted that mission 20 times until i finally got through it

Rainbow Party

I hate how stupid gang wars were. Gangs my azz. It was all about being there by yourself fighting waves of purple shirted guys coming at you, all while for some reason the entire state decided to stay indoors. It was incredibly boring ant stupid. Even if you take 3 (as many as fit in a car) grove street guys, they are so useless, missing shots and dying. I don't really get how they didn't try to make it right considering it was apparently a very important aspect of the game, especially since you had to take over tons of turfs like that in order to play the final mission.

Saints Row 2 had gangs fighting for territory too, it was tedious and annoying like in San Andreas but it was done 10000 times better because you could actually see your gang fighting along side you, your homies are actually useless and you just had the objective of killing a few lieutenants of the enemy gang to re-gain your turf, killing every single enemy was optional.

The Freefall mission.

Overall, the game is too over-the-top if compared to III and VC. I'm not being racist or anything, but it was all hood, nigga, gangsta, turf etc. etc. etc, yadda yadda yadda. However, I liked the gangs in the game ;)

Radio Los Santos - the one in GTA 5 is good, but isn't as awesome as the one in SA.

Good ol' memories of blasting the Rifa in Doherty to get rid of them close to my garage, now I have some of my homies armed with Miniguns with edited pedstats so they won't die as easily, taking over all of SA. Yes you heard it right, with SilentPL's extended gang wars you can take over all of SA.

The Aztecas and Triads. They are awesome gangs, I love them, but Rockstar could make them friendly. Isn't it weird having the Aztecas and Families shoot at each others despite their leaders being so big allies?

The story. It started out where you were all gangsta, but in The Green Sabre, CJ killed almost all of the Front Yard Ballas members. But, soon 5 cop cars or so arrived. What did Carl do? Rise his hands up! Come on! Such a hi-ranking nigga gangbanger wiping out the army and at least 4 large criminal organisations was afraid of some cops? Duh. Soon the coppers take you in the desert, forcing you to do their dirty jobs. Soon you'll meet some weird-ass drug smoking hippie forcing you to steal combine harvesters and getting high. In the meantime you rob shops with some Colombian-Mexican bitch who even raped CJ. Carl was way too much of a weakass in that part. Soon you enter San Fierro. You hire a crew to do a car business. OK. Later on you'll be a clown of some pimp and be the main hitman of their business. All CJ does is killing them all later. That's understandable and all. But, I would expect CJ to confront Ryder face-to-face. Instead, he gets fried on a boat. Then Carl goes to the driving school. Wait, what? DRIVING SCHOOL?! A DRIVING SCHOOL IN A GTA GAME?!?!?!? Hah! Nice joke! And what do you do there? You do some barely possible tests which ones you'll never use in the game. Later you'll move out into the desert. You buy an abandoned airstrip. Good. But then you'll get some interesting, but completely illogical missions. Fly a plane while Hydra's are watching you. Why fly? Can't you just get all the stuff in a car and take it there? NO. Etc. etc. etc, I'll skip the part of those missions. You'll get a cut in a casino. Fine. Later on, you'll prepare a heist. Carl already forgot about Sweet. Now, you'll screw a croupier to gain entrance to the casino, but instead you'll work for that casino. You'll have to do some piece of sh*t mission where you have to chase a f*cking private jet, with a damn plane standing there from before World War I! Soon you'll be back in Los Santos and again you are a nigga gangsta caring about the turf.

The Tahoma, Majestic, Blista Compact and other cars with the same engine noise. It sucked :sui:

Male01 and BMYRI - Those two peds got on my nerves SO MUCH! I always beheaded them. They looked gay (my homophobic trends :p) and Male01 kept spawning everywhere! That guy was a mess, he was afraid of everything!

Well that sums it all up :catspider:

I hate how Ryder looks exactly like Eazy E. That totally ruined the experience for me.

The guy above said what I mainly hate about it, but I'm not quoting that text wall so in short, I hated the fact that the Driving lessons and Flying lesson minigames were mandatory and largely involved grinding on them. It wasn't fun, it was f*cking tedious. Because of the skill level thing you could be shafted on the last level of those games if your skill level was too low and driving around for an hour just so you can progress the story is not fun.

In general I hated a lot of the Las Venturas missions for a similar reason.

- I hate how entering police HQ un-spawn my aircraft. EDIT: Only happens while being on a date.

- The bad glitches that may wreck your game.

- How the laws of physics are not the same for YOU as for NPC drivers. A car driven by NPC have immense traction and can not roll over unless they crash with something.

- The cops can only chase CJ or NPCs. Never both.

- Unarmed cops magically get a gun and bust you.

- When you travel by air, why the hell can't the game give more priority to draw trees and other tall objects? They forgot to think about this need. Sometimes when I hover with a chopper, it can take an effing minute to draw that radio tower. It even got blinking lights to warn aircrafts, it should be drawn first not last.

- When scrolling through the game stats, you can only choose between super slow and slow.

- Poor voice acting in some missions.

- On a double-lane road crossing, cars usually turn left or right from the wrong (opposite) lane. They're programmed to make you crash into them.

- Poor sound from the locomotive diesel engines. They could have had nice V16 sound but sounds like a regular big 6-in-line engine.

- No use of the second railroad track outside of missions.

- No suspension on many heavy vehicles. They bounce and lose traction.

I believe the police act differently on consoles and PC. On PS2, a cop will flee if a NPC shoot him. If CJ has 1 star, the cop is less likely to flee. If CJ has 2 stars, cops won't flee.

And a cop will never*) shoot a NPC that hit the cop with gunfire.

*) I've seen it, but it's extremely rare. (Not counting criminals.)

-I really hate how easy it is to acquire cash.

-I really hate drivers in highways who suddenly change their lane to yours without any warning, +pretty accurate for today's drivers.

-I really hate how many features that were present in the PS2 version are not present in the PC version.

-I really love driving a car around the desert while listening to K-DST.

-I really love how easy it is to modify and add stuff to this game.
