[REL|VC] Vice City Neons

Just tried out this mod, and I gotta say, I love it! Reminds me of the Vice City Stories map which in my opinion looked better...

Anyways, I found this strange bug where by the boat yard there is this stray neon out of nowhere:

Another thing, did you literally just port the LED's over from Vice City Stories? The more I play it the more I realize that it's exactly the same as in VCS. At the Hooker Inn hotel there is even the Beachcomber sign there at night, and in downtown there is a stray LED from where the billboard used to be. Will these be fixed anytime soon?

Not a bug.. well it is, but I guess its intended. The mod restore neons from Vice City Stories, that includes neons on things that aren't even in Vice City. :p

@ThirteenAG How to run in Vice Cry? I was able to run without mods, but already the Vice Cry I can not. I tried both the normal version and version modloader.

Well what do you know...I was messing with VCS after a long time and thought those neons on buildings would be great in VC. Then looked for tools, could not find any besides this thread http://gtaforums.com/topic/285544-gtavcslcs-modding/..but almost all links are gone.

 

This mod is great! Well almost great - I got a question: you noticed how in VCS those neons are bright and it seems they got an extra effect to make them such. What can we do to improve this mod and make these neons as bright and shining as it is in VCS?

How to install ? Please help

Download both 3 and 4 zip versions, copy gta3.img into modloader folder, drop neons folder into maps, read ReadMe.txt from v3 and copy those lines into gta_vc.dat. Read this thread, need limiters installed.

Is there a way to restore the neons that are inside of the North Point Mall in Vice City Stories but not in Vice City using this mod?

That's more to do with how the game renders, it uses additional values and effects not present in VC/SA.

That is most unfortunate. So the only option would be to mess with textures or figure out vc light works on cars or lamposts and such. Anyways, was worth asking, thx for the info :)

Something like vcsBloom=1?

 

Well, at least the effect looks like some kind of bloom in VCS when you enable Trails on the PS2.

It's a lot more complicated than that. First of all you have to make the game read the VCS timecycle. And then you have to write a new render pipeline that renders the objects like in VCS (already done for VCSPC) and attach it to all world objects (not needed on VCSPC because SA already does that by its own).
