Concerning car jacking and riding with friends

They say they're just polishing but maybe they have time to slip these things in.

 

Car Jacking

 

We need at least 2 ways to steal a parked car. In GTA4 the only way is to break the window and it seems GTA5 will follow suit. Well how about this?

 

a) Tap Y to break the window. (pro = faster method, con = makes noise so peds who hear call the police)

b) Hold Y to use a slim jim lockout tool. (pro = quiet so no attention is drawn, con = slower method)

 

As for stealing a car that someone is driving, in GTA4 you simply pull them out and then get in. Well what about being able to jack from the passenger side and hold ppl hostage? What I mean is you "tap" Y to just jump in and push them out like normal and "hold" Y to jump in and hold a gun to them making them drive. You could then set a waypoint and your character will tell them where to go (ex. "take me to ______ now!"). This also should come with the "X to go faster" option like the taxi. If you dont push X to speed they will drive normally but if you do pess X they wll drive crazy and possibly attract the police by either running over someone or hitting a police cars. If you want to take over you can just tap Y again and push them out.

 

 

Riding With Friends

 

1) It feels odd that the characters have their own cars but they always ask you to drive them. If I show up to their house without a car by default they should automatically use theirs and I assume the role of passenger with the option to press X and make them speed like the taxi. I mean its their car. Let them drive it. I think this would be better for shooting while in the cars since as a passenger I can put my full focus on shooting instead of having to do it while driving.

 

2) I should be able to make my friends drive like LA Noire. Also, I should be able to sit in any seat of the vehicles. What I mean is if I want to sit in the back like a boss I should be able to choose the back door to get in and the charcter with me drives. This mechanic is already present in GTA4 with taxis. I dont see why they cant make it work like that for friends too?

 

3) A little more variation in the meetings. Sometimes they should come get me instead of me always going to get them.

 

 

 

Its possible that its too late for this stuff but 5 months seems like enough time to add it. I'm no developer so I dont know exactly how long this would tak to impliment but they have these mechanics in GTA4 already so its possible right? Thoughts?

I would like to be able sit in any car seat too, It would also be a cool feature if you have someone that you can call to give you a ride anywhere similar to the taxi,

After thinking about it I agree. No skip option when jacking. So by default they would drive at traffic pace but you could make them speed with X.

We also need 1st person driver/passenger views. I want to be INSIDE the car during car chases and remember how in GTA4 ppl would slump over when they die causing them to sound the horn with their heads? I want to see stuff like that close up like the driver getting shot and dying in the car causing a wreck and being able to witness the wreck from the inside.

Your points regarding "Riding with friends" makes me think we will be able to sit back and enjoy if we are not willing to drive from point A to B when all three characters are riding together. They cant tell who drivies, and even if they do we can simply switch characters.

I think there may be the other sit option. With the heist system, they mentioned you could hire henchman for the job and one of the types listed was "wheelman" which means we may able to have them drive while we shoot. No idea about using it in other scenario's, but at least it's in as some form.

Moderen cars cannot be "slim jimmed"... i dont even think cars 10-15 years old can be lol? But then again i guess they can't be hot wired too, would make GTA boring if we had to rob people for their keys/immobilizer fob every time lol

There would still be a risk of getting a wanted level depending on if you killed them or not. Lets not forget stealing their car would make them call the cops once you let them out.

So what. This isn't real life. The purpose is to add a little depth to car jacking instead of the same ol "break the window and jump in" mechanic.

No I think Taxis would still make sense even with A.I driving you. In some Gta 4 missions, the game required to either use the "friends" car or to find a car and drive them. Taxis were available for some missions but not all.
