It's probably no coincidence that they are less than halfway done with it on Easter. It's most likely a two day job. One day to prep and start and one day to finish. They most likely wanted us to see it halfway finished and scratch our heads for a day. It's working.

Actually I think the bottom divider line is one straight one from Chop through the V to the right edge, rather than bending, and it's a little lower angle.

It has nothing to do with the artwork. When the game was delayed the marketing campaign was also delayed. This includes the box art. Why is that so hard to believe.

1. April Fools is very unlikely, because this is a very known wall used for advertising, and the owner/previous renter/autority would have caught up with it by now. Removing the previous advertisement, painting it white, followed by black and then the actual box is probably taking more then a day. So if this was done illegally, it would have been stopped by now. If it was done legally by some jokers (which would be very expensive), Rockstar would have interfered by now. Last possibility: Joke by Rockstar, but that seems highly unlikely because they are aware of the general negativity of the 'fans'.

 

2. They are using some pieces of artwork that have already been shown, yes. As was the case with previous GTAs, nothing unexpected here. Some pieces of artwork are new/edited.

 

3. They obviously plan these kind of things very well and the box art release is something special for them aswell. They probably had multiple interviews with artists, and made a planning for how long it would take and probably discussed issues concerning secrecy. This being a public wall and not finishing in one time was obviously planned, since it's great marketing.

 

Not trying to be a jerk, but these 3 questions pop up in almost every single comment (besides 9000x the same picture), and all questions have been answered within the first 5 pages. Most people are probably not reading anything and seem to post the first thing that's on there mind.

 

Personaly, the box art is always nice, there is always a template they use, but I'm most excited about the message this reveal gives: Rockstar is slowly coming back with information and marketing.

Yeah I know it wasn't really aimed personally at you In no way did I wanted to sound like an asshole.

It's just that (mainly these 3) questions keep popping up, where the answers are mostly on a previous page or so. I get it, most people are excited, so was I, but you don't have to read to the whole thread to know current events. The first pages cover it well, and at the back of the thread are multiple quotes with the image fully analyzed. I think we know how it's going to be painted by now. But this thread seems to keep on growing and people keep checking it because we think that something important happened (My day is ending over here but I am aware that the NY'ers are just beginning), just to skip through pages and pages of the same questions and pictures. I'm not even that excited about the full box (we can kinda fill in the blanks) but I'm very curious for the next newswire update.
