El Dildo
I've been hunting since I was 13. mostly small game with a shotgun, not large with a rifle. my uncle trains small game hunting dogs (Beagles) for a living and got me hooked on the experience after he realized I was a natural with his Winchester shotty while picking off clay pigeons. we used to just do that for fun when my brother and I would spend time at their farm. but after he saw me go surgical on those targets he started taking us out to hunt rabbits, pheasants, etc and that's what I fell in love with. now I've also been deer hunting several times and elk hunting once, unfortunately I always found it extremely boring. too much sitting around and waiting. and I still own a Remington 710 for shooting .30-06 when I want to go to the range, but I don't actually use it for hunting. that's a relatively cheap entry-level rifle. for serious hunting trips with the dogs I use a Remington 887 with 28" barrel and (usually) 3" 12-gauge loads. it's that fast-twitch, hair-trigger action I enjoy the most. bagging yourself a deer or elk with huge horns is certainly rewarding and looks cool, but I can't endure the boredom. hunting big game is so tedious. it's also not challenging enough. because the challenge with big game is the setup, not the shot itself. with small game it's like a shooting gallery. the challenge is not about the setup, it's all about the shot. your dogs get out ahead of you, circle around, and flush the game into your firing zone. it all comes down to your accuracy, reaction time, and trained instincts. you don't have 10 minutes to set up the perfect shot and wait for the target to walk into it. you just raise your weapon and shoot. pick up your target once it comes in view, make a snap judgement on its range, direction, and speed, and throw down some lead. this is the kind of challenge that keeps me coming back. I'm wanting to get into small game hunting. I mainly hunt whitetails with my .30-06 here in Sc, and I hunt turkey(only a few more days till season!) with a Mav 88. My buddy I work with has an 887 and all he shoots in it is "3 1/2s. He likes overkill I guess lol. I'm wanting either a 887 or a Stoeger p350 or a Nova. I'm gonna get one to replace my 88 before next dove season. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/549337-any-hunters-here/#findComment-1062326756 Share on other sites
crispypistonx8
Stay away from the 887 its not that great/your better off with 170$ 870ex from a pawn shop, IMO the nova is the best out of those 3 you have chosen. Go look at some Ithaca's you might like them. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/549337-any-hunters-here/#findComment-1062486265 Share on other sites

I'm not going to buy a new shotty anytime soon. you buy a new weapon you gotta' learn a new weapon. I already know the 887 like the underside of my dick. don't fix what ain't broken.
