It's most likely a crane for window washing.

But a dragon would be nice^^

My desktop backround is taken near the same place where the helicopter is chasing the infernus. Kinda disappointed that the distance to downtown looks like it is a half a mile away sad.gif

This is how it looks like in real-life Pic

I agree man. Los Santos is not nearly as sprawled out as I was hoping it to be.

Yeah, me too. Still it looks like they hit most of the right bases/themes with the city though. I think part of the problem is that most of the shots of the city we've seen have been aerial, which exaggerates it's smallness. Another factor to count in is that this game will have to fit on one DVD disc(the singleplayer at least) and they can only compress it so much so I'm sure liberties had to be taken for that. That annoys me to say as a 360 owner, but it's true.

As long as it feels like LA , and i get that vibe i dont give a sh*t about the size. Obviously its not tiny either.

Games try and be huge these days, but have little detail and just feel stale and bland. From what we have seen there looks to be detail in every inch of the city itself. Remeber trailer 1 where you saw those homeless people camping under the freeway. Just things like that. I really feel rockstar have left no stones unturned here,

It can't be too big, the countryside will have to be bigger than the city to keep the scale right. It's either massive sprawling city and little or no countryside or fairly large city and a lot of hills, rivers, lakes and mountains!

I love the detail in this image. Seriously, Rockstar took the time to add all that trash, dumpsters, etc, stuff you'd find outside a real warehouse, and also, you can see a RON gas station, and you frequently see Gas Stations in California near freeways.

Forget a huge map, as long as LS is slightly bigger than LC in IV, and has this amount of detail and activities, I don't care. I love the detail Rockstar puts into the game.

IMO I wouldn't be too concerned about the size of Los Santos in GTA V in comparison to the countryside.

If I'm not mistaken (someone correct me if I'm wrong), GTA IV's Liberty City was around two-thirds the size of San Andreas and by the time all the detail and the like was added in; the city itself felt a whole lot bigger. If Los Santos is around the same size as Liberty City or even slightly larger (people seem to forget that the size of Liberty City is pretty damn big in its own right), knowing the level of detail that will of gone into it, I'd be more than happy.

Furthermore, I'm pretty sure that the Game Informer preview (or one of the other previews) stated that Los Santos wasn't going to have a massive urban sprawl like its real life counterpart.

To those talking size:

Look in the distance, look how f*cking huge the desert/countryside appears

It's not just that the alleways & streets are filled with trash & clutter. It's that none of it is static, or 'glued' to the ground like in a lot of games (even linear games) & each has believable webght & physics to them. A lot of people don't realize how much time & effort it takes to make all that happen, but I'm glad you do. icon14.gif

My Glob. I didn't notice that, I withdraw my previous statement. This means the interstate either goes in a similar path, or the Light Rail runs in its median like the LACMTA Green Line.

GTA IV screens were littered like this, but most of it wasn't there in the final release.

See this image, notice how different the game actually was, in terms of props and rendered image. Also, the sky is photoshopped in in this pic (the sky, but not the lighting on the models), and the depth of field is photoshop as well:

Here in the real game, we see that plants no longer float in the air, depth of field is real, and the props are less varied, and less seen. The fire escape (not pictured here, higher in my screenshot) is lower detail as well. Stop light is gone. Some building-top details removed. And more if you look. A big one is, we were told we "can climb telephone poles" - in the screenshot pre-release, we see a ladder all the way to the floor on the TP, but in my in-game shot, it only goes to a few feet above head:

It looks pretty much the same to me. There are parts of the map that have three times the clutter of that screenshot, like the streets around your second safehouse located in South Bohan. There's dumpsters, a discarded couch & wardrobe, cardboard, metal trolley cage, planks of wood, metal trash cans (off the top of my head) & that's just on one street corner.

I imagine the streets in the poorer areas of Los Santos will have all that & more. I can't wait to find that little hobo village under the freeway in trailer 1 & set fire to their cardboard homes & tents.
