Ify24
Hy guys... I was wondering if there is a tutorial on the internet on how to create a real cutscene, I am not talking about cutscene that Dutchy explained how to create in her tutorial, I am talking about a real cutscene, you know, like when the mission starts, the yellow text apears and then the cutscene starts, it look more like video (is it?)... If not is there anybody out there that created a new cutscene (real one)??
TheGodfather.
Do u mean creating a custom cutscene somewhat like this: CUTSCENE Tutorial Or u mean like what R* did ..??

Somebody once converted cutscenes, Example = Put GTA 3 cutscenes into SA. But everyone should just face the facts, unless we get all the voice actors from the games into one room, Rockstars programmers and buy some motion capture tech then nobody will ever be able to recreate cutscenes to Rockstars standard. fastman92
It would be possible if you did a deep research on cutscenes in GTA SA and write a plugin for Maya that would allow to view, edit and save cutscenes in GTA SA format. You'd probably need to load part of map and write plugin for TXD and DFF too. It's a long research to do anyway.

He remade VCS cutscene for VCS PC Edition which runs on Renderware (San Andreas). These are converted, nobody would be capable of making them by hand that well The cutscenes are nothing more than a basic IFP - theoretically, all you need is either a Motion Capture device or some serious animating skills. But, facing the truth, no one would be capable of making such natural looking anims by hand - perhaps not even R* devs.

deltaCJ
Sorry to bump the thread, but GTA Cutscenes are ALL mocaps.
universetwisters
Mocap stuff isn't that hard to get, you just need the space and assets for it. I use IPIsoft and two kinect cameras for my motion capture, I'm just lucky enough to have a large enough room for it. But then the question is how to get it from motion captured stuff to a GTA format.

DK22Pac
But then the question is how to get it from motion captured stuff to a GTA format. There are good tutorials on yelmi's site (the guy who created another IFP IO for 3ds max) about creating and importing cutscenes into the game.http://yelmi.com/modules/myarticles/article_storyid_42.html http://yelmi.com/modules/myarticles/article.php?storyid=43 http://yelmi.com/modules/myarticles/article_storyid_44.html If you would like to try it I think I could find a time to help you with this. Bigbossbro08
I was able to convert first cutscene GTA:VC animation to GTA:SA(due to cutscene bones, I decided to make it ped version). But I faced a big issue. Whenever I put the camera directly to the animation actor, the actor just disappears. But when I again put the camera on the spawn point, I saw the actor again and animation is still running. Is there anyway to see the actor with working animation without keeping the camera on spawn point?
Lancerator
I bump this, I really need to keep reading. What about joining a couple of elements (objects, actors, weapons, vehicles, etc.) in 3D Max, film the animation (Fraps or anything), and upload that file into SA game files? Would be that possible? ThePrince
I'm not sure, the cutscenes are just models and animations, you can notice that when you change the player's skin or a model in the scene for exemple, but the game does support videos: the Rockstar intro and the game titles are just videos i have no knowledge in Coding, but if its possible to launch a video (like at the start of the game) instead of the animation, that would help you! Lancerator
Just figured it out, cutscenes are what you've just said, Prince, they're all displayed by the game, so I'll see what can I do with 3dmax. -EDIT- Edited July 18, 2016 by Still Madd Bigbossbro08
Kickassasarus
Also there's a mod for GTA SA called GTA underground that's taking all the maps from the rockstar 3d universe and making them into one map and even connecting them with landmass and even making custom cities and assets to fill the world. So if someone could figure it out we could have entire modded campaigns with original characters that run around all over this map! And man, would it be the best mod ever... I forgot to mention that it isn't going to be done anytime soon, but it's got betas, samp, and modded minigames you could mess around with right now

As far as I know those cutscenes are being animated in 3DSMax, later converted and compiled into a compatible file then added to the game trough the main script (I think). I once thought about making one for my GTA SA copy. But I wasn't sure how to add it to the game. 10 hours ago, jayd00 said: sorry for revive this old topic, but I was searching and searching how to create a new cutscene as Rockstar style but without succesful, then I found this topic but unfortunately the site of @Yelmi doesn't work for me anyone knows were to find a tutorial or something releated to this topic?? thanks! Thank you for answer Yes, exactly, the last year I could enter the @Yelmi site, and I downloaded their tools, in his tutorials explains how "cutscenes" work, they consist in create three files: .cut/.dat/.ifp Then there is only need to start the cutscene with 02E4: and 02E7: in cleo. The problem is that the animations must be done in 3dsmax with an specific camera and the exact position in the game and such things... The tools for 3dsmax generate the .cut/.dat and .ifp files. Unfortunately I can't remember exactly what he did, that's why I'm searching this tutorial again! And it seems that he was the only one who did this :( If someone can help me, I'll be thankfully LeoTheFox
