Wow, what forum were you reading after GTAV Trailer #1? I thought that there were thousands of posts ranting about how he was too old. On topic, it seems to me that it might be fun to play as Franklin because Rockstar may give him most of the good wisecracks about what he is seeing, about modern society in general, or reactions to both NPCs and the other protags. I love the way he says, "Yeah, whatever..." in GTAV Trailer #2. I'm hoping to see and hear more of that. The point of view of protag humor is a very fine line and it interacts with the way the protag is positioned in the story. So for example, I like the wisecracks that Luis makes in TBOGT, but on the other hand, the cynical humor coming from Niko is harder to get in sync with, because the story and the character are too heavy. And the wisecracks by Max Payne are just plain self pitying. Based on what we know now, it's also a bit difficult for me to imagine Michael or Trevor having the same kind of detached and fun sense of cynical humor, each for different reasons. The trailers have mostly been Michael and Trevor focused so far, so all we really know about Franklin is that he's ambitious and has a dog. In the short demo previewed by Game Informer, Franklin was driving around Vespucci Beach (GTAV's equivalent of Venice Beach) in his 9F (equivalent to Audio R8). He goes hustling now and then, and he met Michael during one of these events (through a repo job). He's a skilled driver and sniper. Michael is his mentor. That's your Personal View on him. Franklin: Is the rags to riches character Michael: Michael seems like the guy who would be giving you missions in the previous gta's like Phil Or Jimmy pegerino. Before trailer 2 Trevor was the least liked simply because everyone thought he was just some dumb redneck, but trailer two showed his humor and tenacity. Once we see and learn more about Franklin Im sure that people will love him just as much. For me I think Michael is the least likeable character. His character model is gross, looks like an old raisin. And out of the three he seems too much like a sitcom character, not a GTA protagonist. "An ex convict on witpro decides to get back in the crime game while still juggling his life as a family man and his friendship with a loose cannon drug addict. Hilarity ensues" Sounds too gimmicky. I'm very interested in playing as Franklin because of what we know from the GI article and the screenshots, but I found what little dialog we've gotten from him thus far to be a turn off. "Yeah whatever" just sounds irreverent and immature to me... like something some punkass twelve year old kid says... Me: Want some ice cream, Billy? Billy: Yeah, whatever. *Billy resumes playing with his phone* Me: I'm not sure I want to experience this awesome world through little Billy's eyes. To me, that appears quite interesting development in his story so far. I don't see what's so interesting about Trevor just yet. Okay he's a crazy, psychotic and unpredictably violent guy, wow. He randomly destroys things, shocking. Show me something I have not seen before. I'm not saying Trevor is boring, I don't know for sure if he is, but so far he don't excite me a great deal. Michael interests me, I wanna see how he balances his family life and I wanna know more about his snitch status. Trevor interest people of this forum because a large segment seem to be the type of people that gain a sense,(false sense) of manhood from doing outrageous(or at least in their minds), dangerous, unnecessary and quite frankly dumb things in the vain of the show Jackass.(i'm sure you know the type of people I'm talking about.) A further element is that some people associate those who support Franklin as being SA fanboys. Of course we barely know of his character, and so its too early to judge. But i'm worried that Franklin will be a bit preachy like all recent Rockstar protagonists, as long as they add the caveat that they've done bad stuff too, apparently that makes it fine to be condescending to others. Like him having a go at Lamar for slinging dope and throwing up gang-signs, maybe Lamar likes doing those things... perhaps Franklin should worry about his own predicament. Of course this may not actually be the case, as i'm basing it on limited information and very little in terms of context.. But it would be consistent with their most recent characters. Another thing that worries me is he seems to be determined to get out of the hood, while i will be determined to get him back to it. I want to experience all the ghetto business.
