Not that those games aren't technically competition, but their sales won't come anywhere close to V's if history is anything to go by. I expect V to sell at least twice as many copies as the next AC, and roughly four times more copies than SR IV or Watch Dogs.

 

EDIT: OF course, as a new IP, Watch Dogs is a bit of a wild card.

To be honest there doesn't seem to be a true competitor, of course there is Watch Dogs and Saints Row IV but they don't seem like they'll be making as much sales (including Saints Row)

Anyway, Watch Dogs is the only serious threat for me. I don't think SRIV will have much substantial impact, if any.

Naah. Assassin's Creed IV is a completely different style of free-roam game

I'll say nothing. Assassins Creed Black Flag is not in the slightest a competitor, it looks like it'll be a great game but it's a completely different genre and style of game.

 

Saints Row IV looks like a SR3 DLC and with the OTT powers and guns is again completely different than GTA, the only real similarity is cars and being open-world.

 

Watch Dogs could have been a competitor however being on next gen consoles will mean it won't be. It does look good but people will now have to buy a next gen console (circa £300/$450) before buying the actual game. Therefore its sales will be directly influenced by the sales of the next console. Lets say PS4 comes out in October, you'll have a lot of sales initially (a few million worldwide, if PS3 sales are to go by only 1,000,000 had been shipped to the US in the first 2 months) then it'll tail off untill Xmas when it'll pick up again (few more million worldwide) and then from Spring 2014 sales will probably hit a good regular amount. Even if everyone who buys the next gen console buys Watch Dogs it's still not going to be a major threat to GTA, when GTA IV racked up 6 million sales in the first week alone!

i gotta say i'm still not convinced by watchdogs, both of the trailers we've seen so far (on pc) feel very suspiciously "scripted" to me for open-world gameplay, and even then we've probably seen more of gtav at this point than watchdogs.

 

my personal prediction is that watchdogs will be like all the assassins creed games (which ubisoft also make), good, but a bit overhyped and not as good as we were expecting!
