Michael is a boring name,but eh i guess they wanted to go "believable" liek Claude was kinda wierd for Him but it was a shadowy name so it fit his outfit.

im thinking he might of had connections to the italian mob back in liberty... something must of happened which is why he was put under witness protection and sent to los santos

I don't think so... And you know why? Because there was a dude in Max Payne 3 who's name was Wilson Da Silva.

I think the resemblence between these two characters names is too big.. It's almost the same last name. I can't remember Rockstar used a name twice in two different games, but I don't think they will. Because R* can easily come up with lots of other last names to use in games..

Don't know if I'm right, but that's my opinion.

 

You guys understand what I mean?

To start with Albert de Silva is a stupid name, the name have Portuguese/ Spanish origins, and is used in Countries like Portugal, Spain or Brazil, so to be correct had to be DA Silva.

 

Second it's highly possible that was indeed the name for Michael, but because of the "leak" they changed it. The whole leak had plenty of details that look like to what the game will be, the fact that the character have a son, the importance of the money and other details like that.

 

But that was at an early stage, it was in the beginning of the game development, so for sure a lot of things were changed. And don't forget another thing, that guy that was here in this forum that leaked some information, way back before the GI release and when we were still discussing if there would be multi protagonists he said something like this "I think I can say this, there will be 3 characters, Albert, Franklin and Trevor".

 

So while he was doing his tasks for Rockstar, that was the information he got, so either a dummy name or was later changed.

What do I think? I think that it could be true or it could be false. The only way to know is if Rockstar says yes or no, or when we finally play the game. The fact that Michael is known to be in Witness Protection only makes such a thing more likely. I think we should all stop bickering on the subject and wait until the game comes out. Then if it turns out to be one thing over the other, those who are correct can laugh in the faces of those that are incorrect.

I don't think it's fake but rockstar were probably planning on calling him Albert but changed it to Michael for reasons.
