Elyobo893
This occured on the Newswire sometime yesterday. Whwn Social Club member XXCrimsonXX posted this: Anyway, this guy gets a lot of hate and such. And then R* replies to one of the abusers: "We respectfully beg to differ" R* know that they are the Juggernauts of gaming and feel no fear from competitors. A serious "F*ck Yea" moment from our favourite gaming company.
FrankieP
Well, he only said that the game will not die in a month, and that is an obvious statement. You can't expect a game from the GTA series not to sell judging by the past releases and the potential it has, along with the hype and T2 share expectancies. It is crystal clear that this next installment will bring a broad variety and therefore it will sell amass. Question is how good it will sell compared to other releases and not whether or not it will sell at all.
Finn 7 five 11
That's not really R*, that's a moderating member or tech support, they can't really state they are worried about competition publicly anyway, it would look bad.
EricCartman316
Yeah i'd imagine that R* are pretty comfortable and confident with the success they are having in regards to the popularity of their game, as much as i look forward to the other games mentioned this game still remains my most anticipated title of 2013 and it will remain so no matter how much i see or play from the other games, i REALLY don't think R* has anything to worry about in regards to GTA 5's sales or continued support and long term replay value that those who purchase it will offer. All i hope is that we get something new on the newswire soon as i am growing quite tired of this (admittedly short compared to the other one but still long enough) info drought. BUT THE BENZ
There's only one true competitor out there, and that development team happens to be pals with R* - as in Remedy Games!

œaœa
Watch Dogs will not be as fun as V. Take it from someone who lives in Chicago, there is only so much to do here.
AtomicPunk
I'm tellin' you guys, all it would take is an unknown IP to be announced in October for next gen that is open-world, GTA-ish, with wicked graphics and it WOULD hurt R* and GTA. They would get knocked off their little pedestal. If there were ever anybody gunning to take all those billions away, now would be the time to kick R* right in the ballsh. It would be a clever take-over move.

GarrowsKai
In a way I'm a bit disappointed now that it isn't coming out on next gen. It would obviously mean I'd have to buy a console but we could have so much more with the more powerful processors. I have every confidence it'll be epic on current gen mind. John Marston
Games like cod and bf4? Do people not realize these games aren't even the same style of gameplay, so have no effect on gta? it does, when you have to decide which of two games to buy when you have a limited amount of money. And you fancy both of them games equally.

El Zilcho
It was a courteous disagreement with the idea that the game will die in a month, preceded directly by the defence of the person who claimed that it would; hardly an ostentatious claim of world supremacy. Red XIII
Basically, that crimson guy thinks its a bad idea to make the game better. He wants rockstar to release a game that hasn't been finished, what an ignorant twat he really is.
TakinThyBacon
I don't understand why people think WatchDogs is going to be some major competition for the GTA franchise. I have not heard anyone say " Wow watchdogs looks amazing, so amazing I'm not even going to bother buying V". It may be a good game, but it will never have the charisma and life that the GTA series has, not saying it will not be a good game, it just will not be GTA, no matter how hard they try to make it GTA. Disclamer : I am a HUGE GTA fanboy
jamieleng
We all know the GTA franchise doesn't exist in a vacuum, but it is on a different plain when compared to almost every other game. People view R* as arrogant & infuriating but that's only because they do things differently to almost every other gaming company, except maybe Valve. Just be grateful they haven't got too greedy & lazy through their success.

Indeed. People sometimes take those comments a bit seriously. These comments are probably made by a web team that only gives info when they're told to. They probably don't know more about GTA V than any of us, except when the higher-ups give them material to post. @OT: I think they were disagreeing with the guy, saying the game was delayed for good reasons. Jvmes
We need to ask ourselves: What will it take for GTA V to flop and fail? I don't believe there is anything. I've left school now so I don't know if there are 13 year old kids sitting in class talking about GTA V in the way that we spoke about San Andreas or, indeed, GTA IV. Someone will counter: "But they shouldn't even be playing it!" The reality is that they ARE playing it and they ARE talking about it (or, at least, 18+ games). It it a fact that kids remain the main audience. People can deny that but they are. Every kid in school got San Andreas within a week of release, we all got IV. Everyone who played those games then is in their twenties or old enough to buy V and even if they buy one game a year it will be GTA if it comes out that year. Rockstar don't even have to do anything.

Mr.Moffat
does it matter? if you want to play any of the games coming out in that time frame then buy them. people are acting like every gamer will only buy one game over those few months, fact is they won't, they'll buy multible games, or trade one in for another. even if another game is highly successful its hardly going to bankrupt R* ya maybe they won't get as much sales, but the sales they do get will still be enormous. Anyway what the prob with another game outdoing gta? im a gamer and willl play the game and enjoy it even if i was the only person in the world to buy it. Im not an investor. Dick Valor
Don't underestimate Watchdogs. Mark my words. Certainly, we shouldn't underestimate WD as it is a new IP... But by the same token, I wouldn't underestimate GTA either. I've only seen WD mentioned here on these forums. Out in the real world, everyone is talking about GTA V. I have friends who don't even game who are talking about blowing the dust off their 360s for V. I can't go to a party (especially here in L.A./SoCal) where GTA V isn't mentioned at some point. Also, the only reason any of us knows about WD is because every WD article online throws GTA V in the title, byline, or mentions it somewhere in the article (e.g., "will Watch Dogs be a GTA killer?" derp). Gaming sites do this because people are googling GTA, not WD (Google analytics data supports this). GTA is what gets hits on websites... and it's also what is going to sell this holiday. R* has every reason to be confident in its flagship product.
