Jago
Just picked up Vice City again, and I'm looking to spit shine it with some high quality character models that I'm preparing... only problem is, the mods simply aren't loading. Somehow, despite replacing the proper files in gta3.img, the default models appear in-game. Strangely, the mods do load with the game set to Windows 98 compatibility, but now the game isn't loading the UI tweaks I've made. This also make Steam overlay not work and the game run terribly, so it isn't a good option. I'm wondering... where could these files be? The game is basically loading gta3.img from somewhere else that isn't the game folder. Running Windows 8, by the way.
theNGclan
Running Windows 8, by the way. Windows 8? That's probably the problem. Is your game folder set to read only?
Jago
Nope, I already did the usual precautions. Might be UAC messing with me, in that case I'll have to install a registry hack. EDIT: I also extracted some modded files and looked at them, they're clearly modded. Seriously, where is the game getting these other files? Jago
I checked back up files, old installations, looked in places like AppData and places where Windows might have cached files... nothing. The gta3.img in my game folder is the only one for Vice City that I can find on my entire hard drive.
Jago
Sorry for double-posting but yeah, I completely disabled UAC using a registry edit, though the UI stuff I made isn't loading again. Oh well. I could see this being a big problem in the future.
