Laws

Let's talk about weird/stupid/over the top laws around the globe. For example:

In Arkansas, a man can legally beat his wife, but not more than once a month.

What a stupid thing confused.gif

Where I am we have like this totally stupid law, totally harsh, these geezers say we can't drive our 106s over 70mph which is totally harsh and i'm not even lying. That like totally contravenes our human rights and sh*t. Harsh, fam.

I'm pretty sure it's a load of bollocks but I read it's illegal to purchase a car on a Sunday in some places.

I heard there are countries which have speed limits on the highway. But I am not sure if it's a myth.

Here!

110 Km/h and even lower when raining, it's not a big deal though.

No highway anywhere in this big f*ck-off country has a no speed limits except one place in the middle of the desert, some spots have speed limits though.

One of my dad's mates though he could escape a speeding fine so he was speeding through the desert in the middle of nowhere (Not the same road) and a helicopter above slowly flew down and landed in front of him and issued a fine for speeding.

In the province of Nova Scotia, it is illegal to water your lawn when it is raining. Before they abolished the 1 cent coin earlier this year, it was illegal to pay for anything that cost more than 50 cents using only 1 cent coins.

I got out of a DUI charge in 2006 and it was a public intoxication charge in Terre Haute Indiana. The Judge told me I was off the hook as long as I didn't so much as spit on the sidewalk.

Spitting on a sidewalk is actually against the law in Terre Haute, Indiana. happy.gif

Now why couldn't that practice have been in place at my location during Jan '07. Would've saved me a lot of hassle.

Well I reckon its pretty funny that in the North, like in Massachusetts, a man can marry a man. Ha! Gee willikers. That's gosh darn crazy! Ya'll don't see that stuff down in the South. America is a dyin' country. The goverment telling us we have to brush our teeth, etc. My cousin Vinny works in the CIA and he says the apocalypse is coming in about ten years.

That was under the federal Currency Act, and it was 25 cents, not 50.

Speaking of Arkansas, I heard somewhere that it's illegal to mispronounce the state's name there.

It's against the law to wrestle bears, pepper spray hippies, and have the good fireworks in my state. This is just like the Soviet Union.

oh of course, yeah.

you won't get any argument from me on that count.

but at least alcohol is a fun social thing that you can control.

tobacco is just a personal vice that literally destroys your skin and rots your insides.

Fair enough, but tobacco does not affect the nervous system like alcohol/weed.

Here are a few weird ones I found online.

798.02 Lewd and lascivious behavior.

If any man and woman, not being married to each other, lewdly and lasciviously associate and cohabit together, or if any man or woman, married or unmarried, engages in open and gross lewdness and lascivious behavior, they shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083

2C:33-26. Sale of motor vehicle on Sunday

4.Sale of motor vehicle on Sunday.

A person who engages in the business of buying, selling or exchanging motor vehicles or who opens a place of business and attempts to engage in such conduct on a Sunday commits a disorderly persons offense. The first offense is punishable by a fine not to exceed $100.00 or imprisonment for a period of not more than 10 days or both; the second offense is punishable by a fine not to exceed $500 or imprisonment for a period of not more than 30 days or both; the third or each subsequent offense is punishable by a fine of $750.00 or imprisonment for a period of six months or both. If the person is a licensed dealer in new or used motor vehicles in this State, under the provisions of chapter 10, Title 39 of the Revised Statutes, the person shall also be subject to suspension or revocation of his dealer's license to engage in the business of buying, selling or exchanging in motor vehicles in this State as provided in Title 39, chapter 10, section 10, section 20, for violation of this statute.

L.1999,c.90, s.4.

Whereas, there is evidence to indicate the possible existence of an undiscovered species a primate mammal variously described as Bigfoot, Sasquatch, an ape-like creature or a subspecies of Homo Sapiens.

Whereas, reported recent and past sightings, research by anthropologist, Primatologist, biologist, forensic experts, cryptozooligst, independent organizations, private individuals and the famous chimpanzee researcher Jane Goodall support this possibility.

Whereas, the absence of specific laws covering the slaying, taking, trapping or harassing of said specimens encourages laxity in the use of firearms and other deadly devices and poses a clear and present threat to the safety and well-being of persons living or traveling within the boundaries of the creatures habitat as well as to the creatures themselves.

Whereas, for the safety of all, the carrying or dispersing of firearms requires a sense of responsibility to all surrounding individuals and animals. It is the shooters full responsibility to correctly identify the species before the taking of aim and or the killing of a species, therefore ignorance will not absolve the shooter of said charges.

Whereas, be it resolved that any premeditated, willful and wanton slaying harassing or any malicious activities upon such creature shall be deemed a felony punishable by a fine not to exceed One hundred Thousand Dollars ($100.0000) and/or imprisonment, not to exceed ten (10) years.

Whereas, in the event of the slaying or capture of said creature any and all (moneys) proceeds and revenues shall be donated to a state college for future studies and or the protection of said creatures. The rights and physical possession to the said creature shall also be immediately donated to a state college, for further studies.

That's why it doesn't need to be illegal, if someone is stupid enough to hurt himself smoking tobacco, that's his own problem tounge2.gif
