The artificial brands are a favorite of mine. Howevdr, R* needs to make some of their cars look a little more realistic like the 9F. That car has way too much meshand even worse is it looks meh. Mesh- that material that makes grill and vents on cars.

Fake, I like seeing what real life cars were used as inspiration for the in game vehicles and I like the creativity R* exhibits with the designs and names.

R* seem to be very good at making parody car's, also saves car makers getting upset about having their car associated with ped bowling

The whole point of the GTA universe, is that it's a parody of the real world, so real car brands goes against that ethos. I like trying to figure out what cars they are based on & the brand names & logos are really funny (especially the Aston Martin badge).

 

I don't think R* would use real cars in GTA, even if the manufacturers paid them.

I remember falling out with a friend because he was CERTAIN that the Cossie was NOT a Cosworth and was in fact a Beetle....

 

I seem to remember the Counthash was the only one we agreed on, I think disagreeing that was a Lambo would be a stabbable offence anyway so it was his lucky day I guess

They can correct errors that real cars have, tweak some things, improve design etc.

 

They sometimes ruin that though, IV's Comet was quite ugly compared to real Porsches. Same with the Presidente and the CTS-V.

 

But on the other hand, IV's Sentinel was just as awesome as the real thing. Same with Vice City's Infernus.

I totally agree. The Comet did a poor job reflecting a Porsche, the Intruder was like a f*cked up Infiniti, the Presidente was just horrid, and the Dukes was a little flawed.

 

But, then you did have the Sentinel, the Oracle, the Serrano, the Uranus, the Turismo, the Washington, etc. that all looks so close to their RL Counterparts. I hope Rockstar keeps doing it like that rather than f*cking cars up like the Intruder or the Presidente.

Totally agree. I forgot about the Oracle, I love that car. It just feels nice driving it, the way it looks and everything.

 

I wouldn't say the Turismo is as good as the real thing. It's nice, but not ruined. It's awesome when it's on its own but next to the real thing, I don't think it's as nice.

Your friend was a bit of a wally back then. The 'Cossie' (clue's in the name) was obviously based on a 1992 Escort RS Cosworth. Every Essex boy racer's dream car back in the early-mid 90's.

 

The other favourite was the Porka Turbo. Oh those were the days. I wish they'd make GTA 1 & Expansion packs available on Android & iPhone.

If R* were to implement real cars and brands, they would have to pay those brands in order to put them in the game, which in turn means: less money to spend on development of the game.
